I highly recommend all Kaw warriors to watch the bar-fight-comedy skit by the 90’s comedy troupe, The Kids in the Hall (can be seen on Youtube. Search Kids in the Hall-barf fight). In this skit a loudmouth little jerk decides to pick a fight with a Goliath of a man. The little dude gets pounded, thrown in the dumpster, and tossed over the roof, but he keeps coming back for more, until the Goliath just gives up out of boredom. This skit illustrates the core problem OSW: there is never a clear winner. Sure there are apology threads--Osiris has made two, AAH has made one-- but does this mean their opponent won? Perhaps they were just bored of spending months pinning ally-less spy clans. Osw starts off with a bang but finish with a long, agonizing whimper. Boredom of course would be a big problem for the devs, if more high-paying builds like 1ATE7 or Os-Ares continue to reset or quit instead of playing the osw game. The fact that ATA made changes to its system to limit the effectiveness of stripbanks (no more instant 60% refund) shows there is some concern over these never-ending OSW. Is there any hope for the OSW? Is there any way we can make OSW end with as much excitement as they began? First let’s address the problem. OSW and the Comanche Indians The main problem with OSW is that it forces us to fight like the Comanche Indians did. In case your history is a bit hazy, the Comanche Plains Indians were the most powerful military force in the Americas from 1750 to 1850. They are reason Spanish expansion stopped at Mexico and it took 200 years to settle the West. The world’s best horsemen who could fire 15 arrows in the time it took one army foot soldier to fire one musket shot, the Comanches absolutely devastated any force that came up against them. If they were so powerful, why did they not drive the Europeans back to Europe? Well, for all their military power, the Comanches were basically thieves, not conquerors. They would attack frontier forts and homesteads, scalp the men, **** the women, kidnap the children, steal anything that wasn’t nailed down, and then wait for the white man to come back so they could do it all over again. They had no desire to drive the Europeans off their continent, instead they valued them as a supplier of things they could not themselves obtain, namely metal, paper, and whiskey. Unfortunately for the Comanches, new technologies such as the Colt Revolver eventually led to their extermination. They should have driven the Europeans out before they had the chance to adapt to the Comanche war style. The mistake the Comaches made is the same problem we presently face in KaW, all we can do in OSW is pin and steal. We cannot conquer no matter what we do. This is why small spy-centered clans eventually win apology threads over bigger clans. No matter how hard they get hit, those troops just keep on coming back, and the boring pinning game that is OSW goes on and on. My Solution: Building Strips I believe there needs to be a mechanism that allows clans to strip not only gold, but buildings as well. After all, eliminating the ability to war is a huge part of actual war. Why was the A-Bomb dropped on Hiroshima, for example? It’s because Hiroshima was the leading manufacturing city of naval warships. (The legendary Battleship Yamato was built in Hiroshima.) KaW needs a way for clans to minimize their opponents ability to war other than boring pinning. This is my proposal. For every 1000 attack or assassin loss, a player would have one building randomly destroyed from their kingdom. In monetary value, it would be the equivalent of stripping 175B off of a player. The affects of this proposal would be as follows: 1) Attack builds would be useful again in OSW, instead of sitting around while the spy troops do all the stripping. 2) Big clans could then pound annoying ally-less spy clans to a size where they no longer cause a threat. 3) As people fear losing their builds, OSW apologies would come a lot quicker, with no one leaving a secret spy alt in a strip clan while their main EBs somewhere else. 4) There will be no more of players hitting osfs or inactives. Inactives would quickly crumble in size after being farmed too much, and the amount of gold gain from hitting your own osf would not equal the 175B you lose when it loses a building. This would force players to put all their troops on the enemy or EB. 5) We can see decisively who actually won the osw, because the losing should be significantly smaller in size than the eventually winning clan. In conclusion, real war has real loses, not just losses in gold. To make a more exciting and satisfying experience for all involved, let’s stop warring like the Comanche’s did before Kaw as an app is exterminated as well. Thanks for reading. Please give me your constructive criticism below. Cheers.
Your logic is flawless but don't support merely because a loss of that size, especially buildings would probably drive me away from kaw (I don't have multiple banks like some)lol, sorry no support I love your threads bro
Remember than my proposal calls for 1000 attack or assasin losses for a building to be destroyed. Not an easy task. I clan would have to really zero in on a player to achieve this. For example, this build would have lost 5 buildings over the two years of its existence---Not a great loss.
I have a question. How long will it last for the 1000 hits? Forever? So if I was on 900 2 ears ago and got a 100 today, would my building be destroyed? Or is there a time limit until it resets
I was not thinking of any time limit. Hit a thousand losses? bye bye build. Of course 1000 is an arbritary number, could be either more or less depending on what the devs feel is appropiate.
I support this, as I myself have thought it would be good to have buildings destroyed. Hope this actually is seen by devs.
Support. Should be random. Destroy a stable or a t5 build. Would make war fun but, think of the rich kids who nobbed up. Devs lose money if they complain cause 5 clans took 5k$ in nobs away
OK fair enough bud u have my :support: ,I just hope there would be a limit to buildings that can be destroyed like no more than 10-15 I know it's going away from ur main point but u don't want players losing so much they actually quit, surely u want them to come back for more to gain some pride and possible victory?
Once a build becomes too small, the mechanics of the game make it DTW to bigger builds. This should stop the building strip.
Good thought put in this idea. Props to you phil. But the ramification would be devastating to everyone that people will eventually lose interest in the game. Case in point is that people will continually have disagreement because that is how we are psychologically built. The ability of someone to reduced an opponent to a point where he will have a hard time recovering is absurd specially if he has put a lot of money in it. Imagine a group of crazy people who suddenly decided to destroy someone in the LB or a high paying individual? Do you really think ATA will do something stupid as developing something that can affect their bottom line income. Anyways, no support Phil.. The only chance a small clan can defend itself in todays KaW is their ability to grind the war to a point where the other side give up or ask for a CF.
@Philosopher I think you give yafi a bit less credit. Yafi wasn't a small spy clan. It was a big spy clan. The only only thing was that it was outnumbered. What would you expect when you have AAH,Osiris,Zaft,iG,WAR,Voodoo on you? I dont think there is any other clan that could do what yafi did. Yes i'm in yafi. I'm not praising because i'm in yafi. I just recently joined. But in way was yafi a small clan.
I think it's an interesting idea but seeing as the devs can't fix something (you'd think would be) as easy as EW clan matchups and lag times, I can't see this going anywhere. Props to you for having such a detailed and well thought out proposal though! You have my support though
Philo ur on a roll lol but great ideas I don't see them goin anywhere as someone else said the devs can't even get ee wars right or improve lag time but keep the ideas rolling bud they may catch on and hire u
