Neuroxandia

  1. This is a series that will eventually intertwine with Sword of Death, and it plays a significant role. After Sword of Death 2, this will start merging in. I will try posting later. Something's wrong with my iDevice.

  2. Prologue:

The storm rumbles far and near. Somewhere in another dimension, a great evil has been unleashed. The world of Neuroxandia is in danger. Word has yet to reach the king in his court at Neurox, the capital city.

  3. Chapter 1:

"Hurry, Grace! The Royal Court's alert bells are ringing!", my sister yelled.

I leapt out of bed, got dressed and rushed downstairs in about 3 seconds. The Royal Alert bells were rang only when danger threatened the entire nation.

Arriving at the city square, the king was there with his bodyguard. King Seth ruled with kindness, and the trust of his subjects, unlike his tyrannical predecessors.

"People of Neurox! Danger from another world has put our nation in critical crisis! It is reported that a girl, around 13 years old, has come from another world. She has a black aura, with a sword of black steel. Her pupils are red. My mage soldiers in the coastal towns are all dead. It is clear that girl's magical capacity exceeds ours. All Mage battle schools are held into high training and standards". The King's voice seemed to echo into the distance.

A girl around my age, with extraordinary power..... This could be fun, I thought. I went to Neurox' top Mage school. I was top of every class, and I could defeat the strongest of the King's mages no problem. Sure enough, I was sent to where the girl was reported to be heading. Victor, a boy nearly as strong as me, accompanied me.

    Two days later....

We reached the village that was suspected to be the next target. The King's orders were to see the girl's power and send one of us back to report. Hiding in a tree, we watched. Indeed, a girl with a black aura and a black sword appeared. The Mage guards attacked, and did not even touch the girl. The girl held the black long sword with such ease it was obvious it had become almost a natural extension of her. She carved her way through the guards. Her eye's red pupils glowed, and houses blew up, trees fell down, and everyone died.

"Victor. Go back and tell the King. I will go stop her"

He didn't argue after seeing what the girl could do. Stepping out from under the tree, I approached the girl.

"King's Mage!", I yelled. "Who are you?"

    The girl turned around slowly.
"My name is Lisa. I am here to destroy your nation."
    "Not on my watch"

I sent a wave of magic to steal her life force. It came back with nothing.

"It will not work. I cannot die. I cannot be defeated"

Summoning the strongest of my power, I hit her with every element of magic in existence. She stumbled, reacted, and cried out in pain. I smiled.

"No one defeat me eith- AAAAAGGGGHHHHH"

I slammed into a still-standing walk of the village. Right onto a spear stand. As my vision cleared, I suddenly lurched forward, the spears coming out of my body. Lisa grabbed the collar of my shirt.

"You have talent. But you cannot defeat a god"

Next thing I knew, her sword stabbed through my chest. I screamed.

    "You're pathetic", Lisa said.

Flicking the blood off her sword, she walked away. Angered at my defeat, my wounds and my weakness, I drew my sword. She turned around, amused.

"So. That is the Sword of Heaven you hold"
    "What?"
    Lisa smirked.
"Maybe another day. You obviously can't fight right now"

She vanished. Wounded, I staggered back to the Capital.

  4. Chapter 2:

As I reached the gates of the Capital, guards recognized me, and the medics got me onto a stretcher. Giving me a sleeping potion, they waited for it to take effect.

After my wounds were treated, the King himself came. I struggled to bow, and nearly fell forward to the floor. He rushed forward to steady me. He knew me very well, from the Mage school I went to, as he was the headmaster.

    "Grace, what happened? Where's Victor?"
"The girl....... She's a god. As for Victor, I sent him ahead to report."
"He never came. He may have been caught. Get some rest. I will look for a solution. Maybe something in our library of legends. If you are feeling restless and can't sleep, maybe you can write down something describing the girl's power"

I nodded. I doubt I could sleep without reliving the moment when Lisa threw me back onto spears. It had pinned my two arms, and through my chest. Yet something wasn't right. I didn't feel like myself. Not after her sword stabbed me. It felt like it stole a part of my life force. I felt weaker. I had to mention that to the King.

I went home. My sister lay on the floor. Her blood pooled where blood flowed out of her punctured neck. She was dead.

    "Damn you to Hell, Lisa"

A slip of paper was taped on to the wall, with a map. The paper read, 'If you wish to take revenge, follow the path marked'. But I knew I was no match for her. I folded it and put it away. Taking my sister to the cemetary grounds, I had her buried. What did Lisa mean by the Sword of Heaven? I had to find out.

  5. Chapter 3:

The neighboring nation of Acaxandia was in ruin. Everyone was killed. Only a few survived, and fled in fear of being killed. Houses burned. The Acaxandian army was still fighting Lisa. She dispatched them all with ease. Except the battle champion of the country. Lisa, tired from fighting an entire army, was badly wounded. She fled to heal. Now the entire continent of Xandia was in danger.

  6. It elevates a bit fast doesn't it... Much too fast for my liking. It wouldn't get much pages in a book would it?

  7. I'm nowhere close to done. If you have anything to say, please do so in the Feedback thread

  8. It's still very fast paced... And ok fine 

  9. Chapter 4:

"Bad news. The girl has destroyed Acaxandia"
    "What?!"
"It all happened yesterday. The girl is deliberately sparing our nation."
    "But why?"
"She may have a purpose in mind in which she needs us."
"She's invincible! She's a god. A demon rather, but the point is why would she need us?!"
    "We don't know"

The King was talking to his advisors. People were being evacuated into the Capital, and the King's army concentrated in the Capital.

Running past the guards, I found the King in his advisory room.

"Yes, what is it?", he asked, not even offended that I entered without permission
"The girl. Her name is Lisa. Her sword can steal life energy", I gasped, out of breath.
"We know. We found the legend that describes her exactly. It is impossible for us to defeat her. We will be killed. But you must escape. You must find a way to kill her. We will distract her. Find the world she came from"

    I nodded.

"You must leave now, before she comes to destroy us"

I nodded, and left. I felt like crying. I grew up in Neuroxandia, and now it will be destroyed. But the King was right. Perhaps if I escape and manage to kill Lisa, I can rebuild this nation, maybe even this continent. All my memories played on fast-forward. I left the city through the back gate. It was closest to the border leading to unclaimed land. A wild land, where animals roamed. Lots of trees for cover. And so, I left. Watching as explosions ran through the Capital city Neurox.

    Neuroxandia has fallen

  10. Good I like it!

  11. Chapter 5:

I was in shock. My hometown destroyed, everyone I knew dead. It has been 4 days since the destruction of Neurox. The only nation still standing is Ruaxandia, the most powerful country in Xandia. I fled there to warn their King. Now I watch as the girl summons an army of skeletons. The defenders are hard-pressed. Concentrating my magic, I removed air from Lisa's lungs and the area around her. Sure enough, she started suffocating, not knowing what was happening. She went unconscious. The skeleton army disappeared. I ran towards Lisa's unmoving body. I had to find out about her while she was knocked out. Searching her, I found her clothes tattered. It looked as if she once wore a brown jacket, with a pink shirt. Only a bit of the jacket survived. Her shirt was ripped and torn. Her jeans burned. If it weren't for the black aura and black sword, she'd look like someone good. The city gates opened. A troop of mages came. Bounding Lisa in anti-magic chains, they took me into questioning.

"Where are you from?", they started
"Neuroxandia. It fell to this girl 4 days ago"
    "Why did you come here?"
"To warn you of her. She is a god. She can't die."

At the word 'god', the Mage guards looked nervous.

"Well, you are welcome here. Ruaxandia will not fall to an unconscious girl"

    I wouldn't be so sure, I thought.

The next morning, the chains lay on the floor in the escape-proof prison. Lisa had found a way out.

  12. Chapter 6:

Ruaxandia fell the day after Lisa had escaped. This time, she had summoned an immense army of swords masters. I was out of magic for the time being. I had to fight my way out by sword. The soldiers were no match for me but did not allow me progress through the battlefield. An arrow slammed into my arm. I gasped, and dropped my sword. I looked past the soldiers holding swords at my neck. Lisa was 50 meters off holding a bow. Now I was in a cavern, tied to an iron cross.

    Lisa came in
"We have a score to settle, Mage"
"I will have nothing to do with a demon"

Every element swirled around her and I knew what this was about. For what seemed like forever I was engulfed in flames, electrocuted and tortured. Then everything went black.

I woke up. Glancing around, the cavern was collapsed. There was no sign of Lisa or her army. The cross I was tied to was gone. A boy stood before me, sword drawn.

    "Where's Lisa?", he demanded
"I won't tell you anything. You're working with that demon", I said

He laughed. It was harsh. One that showed signs of sorrow and desperation.

"I'm not working with her. I'm trying to stop her. This is clearly not the world she and I came from."
"What kind of world do you live in? You let a demon like her get loose?"
"She has the power to destroy worlds."
    "I figured as much."
"You have no use to me anymore". He sounded bitter.
    "Wait", I said
    "What do you want?"
    "What's your history with her?"
    "That is irrelevant"

    I drew my sword.

"Tell me, or you won't be leaving"
    "If you insist."
    "I do"
"It started in my hometown over 2 years ago. Devils attacked our school, and everyone was slaughtered. We fled, and we were thought responsible. We were on the run from both the devils and the government. She died in a battle. 6 days earlier, I led an army to bring down a tyrannical government. Her sword was there. It was slammed into the ground, and she rose, same, but different. She said in 10 days, she would destroy my world. She tried preventing this. She wanted me to kill her before. I refused. I loved her. Now it seems I will have to kill her"

    A long silence stretched out.

"Going to kill me, eh?", said Lisa from behind us.

  13. Chapter 7:

I scrambled to my feet, reaching for my sword. The boy did the same. I barely had time to parry Lisa's sword. Everytime my sword met hers, sparks flew. The boy was about to attack when Lisa dropped her sword. She clutched her head.

"I can't keep my demon self out for long. Listen closely.", she said to me. "You must give the sword you have to him. With it, he can defeat my demon form and end this. If you kill me now, my demon self will live. I will bring myself far away, so when the demon retakes control you will be safe."
    "Wai-"
    She vanished.

    I looked at my sword.
"What's so special about this sword?", I wondered out loud.
"That is the one weapon that can defeat Lisa."

I handed the boy my sword. He accepted it without a word. He handed me his own sword. He vanished and left. I wondered if I would ever see him again. But I had my own goal. To rebuild the fallen continent of Xandia.
