Nature vs Nurture Well, to discuss this, we should have some background info about it. What is nature? In this context, nature basically describes a person's natural characteristics and traits from birth. They have not been shaped by experiences.Things like eye color and height are natural characteristics. They cannot be taught, they are natural. What is nurture? Nurture is basically the opposite of nature. Nurture describes characteristics and traits that can be shaped by others or through experiences. So, for example, core values can be instilled by parents, or can they? Well, that's the discussion. So, what's the issue? I ask you guys, can certain things be taught? Or are they just natural? For example, can another LeBron James be in the making as we speak? If we were to put a man through all of the training that LeBron endures, would he end as amazing as LeBron? Or can that not be taught.. Is LeBron just a naturally amazing basketball player? Can athleticism really be instilled onto someone else through countless hours or training? Or are some just naturally more athletic.. It's not only for sports either. Are certain people just naturally more intelligent than others? Or are those people nurtured through learning and experiences.. Can less intelligent people be nurtured into brilliant rocker scientists? Could another Einstein be born as we speak? Or is another Einstein being formed as we speak? Another issue arises with this, Are people born killers? Or is it nurtured through life? Yes, I understand that this is a large topic, but I also think it is very interesting. Personally, I believe that athleticism is natural, not nurture able. No matter how hard someone tries, I think that there will always be someone born better. Yes, this probably sounds crazy, saying that life is useless because, no matter what, practice won't get you anywhere. But, is it? I also believe that nobody is born a killer. That urge to murder is formed through rough experiences and rough values. Everyone is born well-natured, but life can taint that innocence. I also believe that intelligence can be nurtured, if one were to work hard enough towards it. Alright, now you guys have my opinions. What do you think? Nature or nurture?
some people are born with serious mental issues and go on a killing spree someday in their life. but there are a few that can deviate from that path with proper education.
Some things are -- by definition -- nature. You're NATURAL hair color (looking askance at all you toupee wearing dudes and hair coloring ladies), genetic proclivity to certain diseases, etc. Other things are -- by definition -- nurture. I grew up speaking English because I live in the USA (alright, alright, all you anglophiles can argue it is not proper English, but focus people). Had I been born in France, I would have grown up speaking French. Apart from these examples of absolute nature or nurture -- I believe most things are an interaction of nature AND nurture. Your example of a Lebron James (pardon me, I threw up in my mouth a little bit) might be instructive. Even it King James was born with this innate talent, if he had never been coached, drilled, etc, he wouldn't be the player he is today (pause for boos/applause/Bronx cheers--depending on your team loyalties). So while you could argue there will ALWAYS be someone with more "natural talent" than someone else, it requires discipline and training to hone that talent, be it in sports, art, architecture, whatever . . . . IMHO -- nature AND nurture FTW.
All the professional sports players and geniuses you see have a combination of nature and nuture. For example: Lebron James was given the natural characteristics to be an amazing basketball player, but he also has endured serveral thousand hours to be the best he can possibly be. Another example: Albert Einstein is an absolute genius. He was born with the characteristics to memorize, and given the ability to anylyze conflicts, but like Lebron, he had to study for several hours. So in conclusion, Nature and Nuture are both involved to make someone the best they can be. Conflict answered. /lock
U gotta have a good balance yo if u nurture something too much it gon die. U leave it to nature, probably the same. And die-inging is bad mkkai
