    Year: 2015

In 1979, George Miller made the cult film Mad Max, an action movie that is structured around car chases in a post-apocalyptic Australia. The film was successful enough for a sequel two years later, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, which is still seen by many fans as one of the best action movies ever. Then follows a third film in 1985 called: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Thirty years later the remake of the succesfull mad max series is a fact. Unlike many other remakes Mad Max: Fury Road is a great piece of work.

Tom Hardy is the new 'Mad' Max Rockatansky, who is seen in the post-apocalyptic Australian desert landscape driving on lonely roads. Flashes of visions reveal a past to which he could not save a young girl, possibly his daughter. In the prologue he is captured by foreign white looking men employed by tyrant Immortan Joe who is a powerfull leader as he has the control of the only bit of water in the area. Charlize Theron is Furiosa, one of Joes captains who runs off with a truck full of water and takes the "boodwomen" aswell. Max gets involved in the chase by the army of Immortan Joe but managed to join Furiosa.

After this short introduction, Max Max: Fury Road is one long, spectacular chase. George Miller made a movie with a great set and gives you precisely enough background information to the characters without interrupting the story line or add an unnecessary complicated story. Miller, for example shows enough striking images of how Immortan Joe operates and how his followers react to him, and tells you what you need to know about him, his city, personality and cult. Mad Max: Fury Road is a pure action film, simple in structure and design, but rich in details that make a fascinating world.

The film is more or less one long chase, which is broken up into several parts which give each chase exciting action scenes. Furiosa and Max have to deal with multiple enemies, each with their own types of vehicles and weapons. The army that Joe brings is very impressive, including a wagon with drums and one with an electric guitar, a lot of amps and a blindfolded guitarist. Both intended to boost the fighters and make the opponent scared, done just as armies in antiquity. The dutch artist Junkie XL made the sound of those instruments which is a big part in making the movie scenes so intense.

The guitarist is also an example of the unique and sometimes crazy world that George Miller has created, with very original ideas and weird, deformed figures. The world is different than in previous films, but looks on course. Foreknowledge of those films is no requirement to enjoy Fury Road. An explanation of how the world has become one big desert, is not given, except for vague allusions to a nuclear disaster. More is not necessary and not important. Miller throws you in the deep from the start and immediately starts the engine for the good old-fashioned action scenes.

In this area Fury Road can compete with illustrious predecessor, The Road Warrior, and that is quite a high score. For two hours, Miller keeps the pace and tension high, while Mad Max, Furiosa and her 'women' help to keep their enemies from their car and keep the monster running. They get as much attention as Max in this thundering action movie full of violent men. there is room for many different experiences and female characters.

This not only proves that Miller in his old age (he was already seventy) is still full of great action scenes to deliver. Ripping cars, lots of explosions and shooting scenes, but he also moves further into new territory. He does so, moreover, with fine bright colors. While most post-apocalyptic movies have a pale look, Miller chose a beautiful yellow and blue palette for respectively day and night scenes. in addition to the bizarre world of Miller that was filmed on locations in Australia and Africa. Mad Max: Fury Road is the work of an artist whose art shows a long chase through the desert.

I hope you enjoyed reading my review of Mad Max: Fury Road. I used some of the information from a website in my country

    Have a great day!

  2. Nice read ️

  3. You have to see this movie

  4. Thanks IMDB

  5. Thank you for the compliment! =)

Glad to hear you liked it!

  6. TL:DR. But as a huge fan of the Mad Max series since a kid when first released, I'm all about supporting to see this new movie.

  7. I hear it's a major chick movie. No female nudity? No reason to go unless it's for fruits.

This is also typical present day Hollywood. Can't think of any thing original so let's recycle some 40 year old crap my grandpa used to like.

  8. I understand your point of view but I bet many people in the younger generations never seen the original. Like I said, unlike many remakes I think this one turned out pretty good.

Also, when producers see a good chance to make a buck on a remake they will always go for it so there's that aswell. ^_^

  9. I admit. I've never seen the original or the Tina turner one. I did see road runner. Good flick but they didn't say one damn word in the whole first half hour.

  10. Had breasts in it tho. 

  11. I'm just saying instead of getting all these old dudes making their old dude movie remakes, how about giving that cash to some young writers with some new ideas and junk that wasn't all old, smelly and limp?

  12. I do agree I like your point of view with giving others a chance with fresh ideas but as long people want to pay money for popular remakes the movie veterans will always go for the safe ways. I'm just glad they put some efforts in this movie, looking at special effects and full of action to keep your attention.

  13.  It has Zoe Kravitz in it! Awesome! 

  14. The movie isnt a remake its a continuation of the story

  15. Oh yeah sorry you're right, a reboot of an excisting series. You of all people should know I'm not that great with words Atro xD

  16. Good review but I wish Hollywood would make good original new stuff not remake or rehash classic films.

  17. Thank you for your opinion. Every opinion counts! =D

Anyone else who seen the movie or will see it anytime soon let me know what you think of it.
