Interesting discussion? Skip to tl;dr if required So nowadays I'm delving into topics I find interesting and stumbled onto this... With todays technology and implementations, biometric scanners are becoming common. Specifically in smartphones. By biometrics I refer to fingerprint scanners. Now this adds an extra level of security to your device/s, of course there is a flaw. There can be two or more people with the same fingerprint. ^Source for this claim is here Anyway, what is your take on this? I don't expect many to take this seriously but I do feel no one could possibly make a joke of this. I encourage you to try. Thanks and good day Tl;dr There is no tl;dr, got u noob ~Kas
Chance isn't super high. As metrics that avoid error, biometrics are generally on the "very little error" end of the spectrum. Perfect? No, and maybe it won't ever be. But "really really good" is better than "sorta good, I guess" like 4 digit pins. To clarify, I'm talking about quality systems, not necessarily just...smartphone systems of it.
They also use it in the workplace now to stop people clocking in attendence for others while absent. http://www.clockrite.co.uk/fingerprint- ... -354-p.asp
On the topic of biometrics and fingerprings. A couple weeks ago Grant managed to unlock another person's phone with his fingerprint. Suffice it to say everyone really freaked out.
I've seen biometric scanners fooled by prints and a bit of fluid on the print. They are no where near as safe as people imagine them to be. And there are simpler ways to do it than using an actual print of a targets fingerprint. It's just another overpriced gimmick that is a total waste of time.
It's been proven that biometric prints will never be used for monetary transactions because studies have found that potential thieves will just chop off your finger or thumb
I can sign into my bank account app with my fingerprint, and then transfer money without any other authorization.
Let's hope a thief doesn't chop off your finger or thumb then ,otherwise your bank account will be less than what you remember before your appendage was amputated
If you talk that way. Wouldn't it be logical to do away with the person instead of just steal a finger? I mean as soon as the person is attacked and lose a finger, they'd realise someone is trying to do something fishy and report it. In turn would lead to anything that requires biometric scan to be removed or changed to another method of identification. Regardless it makes no sense.
I'm not so sure that "doing away with someone" is the same as lopping off an appendage. I'm suprised that someone like you who clearly has a superior intellect to the average person would compare the removal of an appendage with murder. You must be having an off day. I'm sorry for making you so mad
Ugh, no buddy. I mean why mug someones finger? To enter a bank account or whatever else because biometrics. Once that person is free they'll report it and the police/whatever will inform them that fingerprint sensitive accounts will need to be changed immediately. That is my train of thought. It would be a whole lot simpler doing away with the person instead of them putting the pieces together and locking you out before something happens. Also I didn't say murder This is a 9+ game, be a little more sensitive lmao
It seems easier to simply steal a credit card, stealimg a finger is just to much work. People are lazy.
Ah but zorkay, you're missing a key concept. People will swiftly notice a missing credit card and call to have it cancelled (how's that for a bit of alliteration?). There goes that opportunity. Naturally, nobody would miss a finger and report that. Preposterous.
^Hah. I must admit though, some guy with pliers beat me up then chopped off one of my fingers. It happens all the time. So I didn't say anything and patched it up myself. I used to have 5, now I have 2.
Hey man take it easy. Don't get so upset and defensive and start quoting rules and stuff. I thought this was just a friendly discussion. Once again I'm sorry. You don't need to get so upset over a simple forum.
