I think most people have the idea that indian people consider cow sacred. Now, how do ordinary people go about this? Do 100% of people refuse to eat beef? Or is this a thing that people declare in public but in private they actually do the opposite? What do poor people do ( being that cows might be available and that their resources for other kind of protein are limited)? Ty in advance.
Its a hindu/indian cultural belief. Cows are sacred because they give milk. Over the long run it is more beneficial to have milk than to kill the cow. that being said, im sure there are people in india that eat meat. Just barely anybody.
Ignorant much deadly? The cow is primarily worshiped as it was a mount to a god, ergo considered a god like animal too. Nandi, she's worshiped by the Hindus. Why some Hindus rather not eat them. WWhilst a majority of Indians don't eat cow, 20% of India's 1.2 billion are not Hindu and do partake in eating various kinds of meat. Heck, a lot of my Hindu conservative friends have come out of the traditional beliefs that their parents followed and do eat meat. Maybe not cow. But the usual like chicken etc. So not really a biggie.
Lots of Indians eat meat, although there are plenty of Hindu vegetarians as well. It's easy to get vegetarian meals in India.
So they consume meat( beef included) but it is not generalized? How do people with moderate to strong religious belifs see people who eat meat? Also, I doubt foreigners are deprived of meat while they are there so my next question is how is the industry there? I mean, is this industry demonized, important? Do indian people see it as a job source or as a neccesary evil? Maybe I'm going a little overboard but I rather ask than being ignorant.
Yes its considered a shared animal, throughout most of India it is not considered or available as available food.. In those places beef is still rarely available, but it is sold under the table as a black market. I have heard of cases where people who have killed a cow to eat it, have been bashed by a mob of religious zealots. Other parts of India, including Goa, and some other tourist hot spots have beef available. ( the quality is sub standard) * many Indian restaurants ( outside india) including mine, offer a range of beef options as as this is what the customer wants. * pork is also a rare meat to find in India, but not as rare as beef. ( not muslim friendly) * McDonald's, pizza hut, dominoes and subway do not offer any beef/pork options in North India at all. ** I love a good porterhouse steak
You gotta remember there are so many different religions in India, sects within Hindu and Muslim as well. Although they coexist, they don't mix well or get much into each other's business. The caste system is still in place in much of India, and the work of killing animals is definitely the work of the lower classes. Untouchables
American Indians wear cows. Irony is sometimes hilarious. But, I used to work at McDonalds. That was my very first job. And the manager there, Vitoo, used to take a McChicken patty, and fry it 3 or 4 times to completely obliterate anything that could be considered chicken. He was very religious.
Sakage, it's obvious that you haven't been to India. Beef is a actually available in a lot of places, quite common. Like I said, they're a lot of Muslims and Christians who live in India. Google what a metropolitan city is, Bangalore for instance. India's silicon valley, people don't really care about what you eat or don't.
Working of killing animals is that of the untouchables? Lmao. Honestly y'all. India is way different from what all you picture. For one, untouchables? Almost extinct. India's all snake charmers and cows lol, the stereotypes don't really exist anymore. Neither does anyone care about a caste system. 50 years ago? Yes maybe. The metropolitan cities like bangalore, Hyderabad are quite advanced. Google it your friend.
