So the 2014 Hunting season is ending soon and I come across a lot of players that love to hunt game for sport and fine eating. This thread is for those men and women out in kaw who sacrifice their mornings sleeping in, on days off or before work, too freeze or swear their sacks off, in hopes to harvest that 200lbs 10 point buck. This thread is for those who spend more time in the woods in a treestand, playing kaw, than they do in a 40 hour work week. Does your wife/ husband complain about you giving more of your undivided attention to hunting and kaw? Do you see all the deer or turkeys in places were you can't shoot them but never where you can? How about the hours of tracking the beasts blood in the dark and it seeming impossible to find. Or when you been sitting in your prime scouted spot for 3 to 4 hours knowing a doe is coming out soon with a buck following that you have been seeing on your trail camera all week and suddenly a yard ape half wit of a man comes crashing through the woods, walking his dog, and talking so loud it sounds like he has a mega phone to his mouth. Well anyways I haven't seen a sports thread posted yet for the dedicated hunters kaw. I was hoping that we can get one going by having you players tell us your hunting stories (funny or awful), your trophy buck size
One story I'd like to share to get this started is my dad was pushing a known bedding area in my direction. As I waited I suddenly heard the sounds of stampeding doe come barrel ass down the hill right in my direction. There were three of em and I was perched in an hourglass of trees. As they ran towards me on almost trampled me as it ran by it brushed my leg on my right. The other two big does ran by on my left parallel to each other. As they past me I pulled up my browning 308 and took aim. Following em with a scope I lined em up perfectly and took the shot. That one shot took down both big does with a double lung hit on one and a heart shot on the other. WITH THE SAME SINGLE BULLET!!
one shot filled both my doe tags for the season and butthurt the hell outta my ol man and the rest of the local hunters!!! I honestly say I was excited as hell
Shot a decent 6 point 3 days ago, then shot a monster 8 point 2 days ago. That 8 point dropped, and didn't flinch. Watched it for a couple minutes, and never moved. Decided to text the other ppl hunting around me, letting them know what I shot. After sending the text I looked up to see the deer running off. Was a high shoulder shot, but should have broken the spine. Still have not found that deer. Today will be last day of looking before I have to head home. Did some trailing this morning with luminol, so have a better idea of where to look, but wish I had more of the stuff. Will still be like finding a needle in a haystack.
marinated backstraps on the grill..... i do believe that is all that needs to be said... just those tasty lil morsels alone are worth whatever it takes! gee thanks dirty.... now i want some damn backstraps!
Nice first buck trixx And for the second Lol man I'm sorry bro At least you did the honorable thing and gave it ur all to find . The good ones always seem to get away from us it's a major bummer. Had that happen once during archery season and I ended up finding it the next year as a skeleton in the middle of the swamp Ty for sharing bro
Lol nutz, after posting this thread I got the drool in my mouth for back straps so I pulled a set out to thaw for dinner tonight also pulled out a bag of shavings and scraps and a bag of fat back to throw in the grinder for sausage patties I'm planning on using for a cookout tomorrow your the man nutz and Ty for your post
Ground deer burgers on the grill ooo man i luv it i hunt with a bow i love the chase and the tracking.the smell of the blood from a fresh kill.i am good with my hoyt raider 55LB pull til about 40 yards many seasons i came up with a big 0. I think tracking the deers movement durning the summer on foot going thru the woods and attempting to learn there habits is the best part. i don't bait the deer or feed them i keep it fair.i love it (great thread op)
Ok so I personally don't hunt by a friend of mine does, so he was driving home from work and he hits a dear well this is a 275lb 10 point buck he has been chasing all season and he finally got it.
Hell yea Ryder , I love archery too bud And the Inital scout preseason always makes it that much better esp when ya finally get in the treestand and notice that all your plans and scout ideas for setup are actually working and playing out thank you for the reply Ryder
Lmfao!! Squirtle!! Haha I guess he was destined to get that monster one way or another at least it was him and not someone else Great ironic story Ty for the post
