Now that the title has drawn you in I would like to ask the kawmunity a question. I have already googled this but I can not find a satisfactory answer. I'm looking for responses from people who have gone through something similar or can provide a link to possibly aid me. First I would like to say that this involves laws in the state of California. My question: If it is not possible to attend a court date can someone besides a lawyer go in your place and represent you? Is it possible to have a friend or a significant other go in your place? Some details: * it is a misdemeanor * it's in California * it is a domestic violence case * the perpetrator was bailed out before an arraignment hearing ( bail schedule) * the court date is a month from now * a lawyer would be the best choice but the purpose of this question is to explore other options DISCLAIMER: The above mentioned details do not involve me or anyone real and are only given in a hypothetical sense. Cailfornia courts website points to several free or low cost legal services, so legal advice isn't just for the rich. The hypothetical individual should pick the best option for them.
I was under the impression that "if you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed to you". Would they not be the legal advice you should seek?
Maybe the hypothetical person should stop doing stupid crap, they should use their god damn brain and stop asking a game forum for advice. Hypothetically of course.
If out on bail think u have to be at court incase they arrest u However depending on the reason u can't make it might be weighted in but no lawyer I would push nothing unless your willing to be hit with failure to show up to court ?
I would schedule an appointment as soon as possible and seek professional legal help. They can review the facts and give guidance. Just my opinion tho.
The lawyer would be appointed on the set court date and you have to be present there to say you want one which defeats the purpose of having someone go on your place.
What could possibly be more important than showing up to court? If you did something stupid, own up to it and meet it head on. Might save you from doing it again. What do you learn by having someone else stand in for you? Hypothetically speaking of course.
I wonder how many 9 year olds on this game think they know the answer to op. Funny to think a fully grown criminal adult is asking minors for legal advice. My two cents is hire a dam lawyer.
I would find a good attorney here on KAW. Preferably a know EE WC since they can battle your way out of trouble and eventually to a not guilty judgement. And make sure he/she is playing KAW while defending you. As the above statements are so ridiculous, they follow the pattern of your post.
