Like many people in Kaw, I have at times fallen under the temptation of writing a Kaw guide of some sort. After all, since I have been playing since the beginning of 2010,I must know much about Kaw. There must be thousands of noobs dying to hear my wisdom. However all desire to ever write a guide was destroyed after reading Moose's mediocre guide to attacking clans single-handedly. Basically, this was a guide that nobody asked for and nobody needed (but thanks for answering the nose-picking question, Moose!). However, there was one very profound thing saidon this guide on page 6 by Swabia. And I quote: "Been there/ done that. Didn't make a guide about it though. I was gonna write the 17th guide for hansels..." This statement was pure brilliance, and was exactly how I felt. Moose hadn't really discovered anything new or anything that even needed a guide. Even if it did need one, Moose is not the one to write it. Sorry Moose, but when it comes to getting your arse kicked in Kaw, you are still a tee-ball player compared to Swabia. The same goes for me too. Even though I think I have this wealth of knowledge about Kaw, I haven't been able to keep an account in the top 200 for an extended length of time. Perhaps those who can should be the one's writing the guides. I basically have 3 main beefs about writing guides. First, you may think you are helping your fellow Kawer, but actually saying "I'm smarter than you, so listen to me". This is especially true for all these hansel guides. Look at the forums guys, making a hansel is not brain surgery, no matter what you write, your hansel guide will never be as good as Val's so why bother in the first place? Second, guide making is actually self-destructive. Long ago, baseball legend Ty Cobb was watching a rookie with his coach. The rookie was always shanking the ball foul. The coach told Cobb, "You know, you could probably teach him to correct that." To which Cobb replied, "And have him take my job? Do you think I am an idiot?" Moose, Wulf, Havoc, and all the other idiots out there making guides: This is Kingdoms at WAR. We are at war with each other. Why are you revealing all your tricks and tactics to your enemies. You don't Swabia making noobish mistakes like that. Think about what you are doing before you make your guides. Think of the consequences before you make your silly threads. Do you really want to make these mistakes? Especially Havoc, your ally buying guide has helped thousands of players become much bigger than you. Imagine how striong you might have been if you kept that information to yourself. Finally, guides suck all the skill and fun out of the game. Lots of players are whining about how EBs are not fun. Well, perhaps they would be more fun if it was not for wulf, for some bizarre reason, insisting on telling the kaw world all there is to know about the EBs the day they come out. Remember when FOD came out and no one knew how to do the final pots? It was exciting to see so many clans desperately trying to find out the secret to suceeding. The wulf came along and sucked the fun of of the pots stage, making FOD into any old EB. Sure the thread is well-done, but it ruins the EB experience for anyone not named Wulf. Get rid of these guides already, Wulf. Let kaw players think for themselves for a change instead of being a pompous idiot who feels we smaller people could not wipe our own butts without your direction. In conclusion, I propose all how to guides that are not written by the devs be locked and thrown away. Let's play the game the Swabian way instead of running to some guide for help. Also don't make guides that no one asks for. Sorry for being so harsh on moose, but he wrote a guide on a topic that didn't need to be guided, and Swabia was the better man for the job anyhow. How about this Moose; if you really want to write a guide about your "orignal" clan farming, please first go hit Zaft Corporation. . If they end up making an apology thread to you then I'll admit your wisdom. Until that day, you are just a smaller player who thinks they must share their power with the world at large. Let's make Kaw a funner place. Let's place a ban on all forum guides.
Wow. I didn't know you were such a Swabia fanboy. However, I agree with your thread; there are guides about everything and its really uneccessary.
Except he did the "look at me I'm smarter than you listen to me" thing as well as Moose, Wulf, and others have.
Moose did roll against cr, but turtled after an insignifigant amount of time. The best player to write this guide would have been -wanderer-.
From Webster's Dictionary: Definition of GUIDE: 1: something that provides a person with guiding information This post is written to guide and persuade others not to write guides, and its just a whimsical point to note as such.
I believe my hansel guide was, if not the first, proper guide on becoming a hansel in the shortest time. It was simple, and I don't see why people have to recreate it. I updated it to T5 hansel, and I believe fluffes re posted mine.
Bloo, It's not to 'guide and persuade' others to write guides. The proposal is that all non-developer-written guides be deleted.
As always philo. Your threads are well thought out and nicely written, and as usual, I disagree with you . I'll address your points as I'm able, but I'm under the gun right now. As for being harsh on me, I have broad antlers . I can take the heat
Yes Val I did. I honestly didn't like the t5 guide it just wasn't clear enough so I rewrote the hansel guide word for word.
