Quick intro: This is just a random chapter type thing I came up with. I forgot all the grammar rules and stuff over the summer, so sorry. Shadow gasped, sinking to his knees. His mind a blur of memories, visions, and images. Suddenly, the world whited out, and an evil scene unfolded in front of him... The small town stood no chance. Raiders had come swooping in like hawks, sweeping aside all resistance. Screams, battle cries, and crying all reached his ears. "I have to watch this... Again?" he said in his low, raspy voice. Suddenly, a dark form seemed to glide down the hill towards the village. Knives appeared in it's hands, black as the ninja like outfit the figure was wearing. The memory faded, replaced by a low brick house, old and ragged. Two burly men kicked in the door, hefting their swords. "What do you think we'll find?" asked the bigger of the pair. "Maybe some women, a bit of money, you never know. Let's find out." The smaller man strode in the door, a sneer on his face. The larger man was close behind, casting a final glance over his shoulder. He didn't see the dark figure, hiding mere feet from him. It seemed to glide in the door, knives in hand. The scene changed again, a dirty kitchen of red brick and mud. Four unmoving shapes laid crumpled on the floor. Two had been hacked by long, brutal blades. The others had had their throats slit open carefully. The persistent dark figure searched the room, obviously looking for something. The figure found it, a girl about 15 with pale skin, black eyes, and ebony hair, streaked with red, that cascaded to her waist. She was barely conscious, having been hit on the head with the pommel of a sword. Again the scene changed, the girl and dark figure sitting in a damp cave next to a small fire, eating. "So, Raven, what do you think our next move should be?" the dark figure questioned. "Well, you're the expert, Shadow. You tell me." she replied. Her voice was soft and quiet, smooth, and otherwise beautiful. "We cant hide forever. They'll be looking for us, you know." The cave faded, replaced by a small creek and a sandy shore. "So that's your curse huh? I don't think it's much of a curse." Raven said, hiding a small smile. Shadow looked down at his hands, mask and hood taken off. "It is kind of a curse. For people to see what they want to see. I look different to everyone." he said slowly. "Well I liked you long before you showed me your curse." Raven says quietly. She leans over and kisses Shadow softly, swishing her feet through the water. Suddenly, they are crouching in a corner of a dripping old warehouse, Shadow feeling the cold clutches of something he has not felt his entire life. Fear. The two hold each other, glancing around the warehouse. The door is broken down, harsh sunlight pouring into the room. "Raven, listen to me, I will find you. I promise." said Shadow quietly, slipping his hood and mask back on. She nods, to afraid to speak. Suddenly, tall figures surround them, clutching various weapons. It takes eight men to drag the two apart and throw them into the trucks. Shadow suddenly is back, softly breathing, laying face up on the ground.
