Fix for tower farm abuse by kaw_admin on Sat Apr 24, 2010 10:24 pm It has come to our attention that a number of people are using 'tower farms', essentially farms of towers and a small number of army/spy buildings. We are making changes to prevent infinite farms of this type. ____________________________________________________ Anyone have thougths on this? What does "making changes to prevent infinite farms of this type" really mean? Does the statement mean that existing tower farms will remain but there will be a cap on the number of towers that can be built for future players? Or does it mean that all builds will soon have a max number of towers including existing tower farms (so some towers from existing tower farms will automatically be destroyed)? On a related note I get the feeling that lvl4 towers are coming soon... (and the max number of lvl4 towers will be limited). Just a hunch.
Ppl don't complain about osf's, but they complain about giving spys a leg up. I'm not even a spy, but they still need a steady way to grow
Spy farms feed a HUGE number of players either directly or indirectly via OSF. They killed the old all-towers spy farms like LordDroopy/iiillliiiilllliiiiillllleureka some time back, but all you had to do to bypass that kill was put up at least one guild. The current game mechanics (as of hours ago anyway, not sure about just this second) work such that as long as a defender has at least one guild, ie at least one offensive spy building, you can steal from them indefinitely, even if they have $0 out. Stealing those type of farms is what pretty much every OSF I've heard of does to fill up on gold to share with the whole KaW community. It's a shame if they change the mechanics to take this away. It will force people who like to grow a kingdom in peace to either work harder to do it, or give up on peaceful kingdom building. It will also force those who want to help out spies to either stop, or to work hard to do it, as OSF's do. I like things the way they are, hope they won't change.
I feel a hit limit coming soon. With the war feature coming out, during wars they may lift the limit to unlimited. Maybe mccc's 5 hit rule may become a kaw law, not a theory.
It may be like 15 hit and hour or something along the lines, just guessing as I can't think of any other way to nerf this besides deleting these accounts, which would probably be impossible as they have fake ids.
WFirEith out the spy farms spys are going to grow alot slower because of these new potions, i feel warrior builds have a way larger advantage to grow and make money faster! Maybe they need to make it so warrior builds don't get money from other warriors unless they have money out to even the game out a bit!
Benny, they already fixed it in the most obvious way, which is that now you can't steal from someone who has $0. The old tower farms and these newer tower+guild farms never have money in them. That's what the devs wanted to stop, I think, are accounts that have no money and don't really do anything at all except sit there and generate money for OSF's.
Hrm. Or at least that's what I thought it was. Lol. Just tested by stealing someone with $0 and it let me do it. So I dunno how they killed Spyboot exactly, but he's still there and still has the same build but doesn't pay on steals anymore. So I'm not sure how exactly they changed it. Hrm.
New spy towers will probably need to just be defensetower/attack build mix, with one guild... just a guess
That's exactly the description of what they just shut down. Lol. Def towers, attack building, one guild. Exactly describes what was just killed.

The primary reason for doing this is to prevent zombie accounts (i.e. accounts primarily opened for farming and completely inactive). If you're an OSF or tower farm, you need to be active. Infinite farms that don't need to be maintained aren't part of the spirit of the game (which is why we don't have automatic income generating buildings either). Most of the inactive farms we've seen are from single users with MANY alts (which is a very big violation of TOS).
The new fix has made it very difficult for me to grow, especially with the new spy defense items that ad 7m spy defense for only 1.25m and buying spy attack items would mean I turn 0 profit, especially since I can't make money off of ally plunder bonuses. They have killed the lower level spy build.
