Welcome to version two of my guide! Thanks for reading! So, as of recently, I noticed more and more newbies have migrated and/or visited FF from time to time. As well as the common species know as "Troll" and "Failtroll", these newbies have not yet learned the rules and ways of our tiny FanFic community. They see a story and are compelled by misterious forces to-the horror-Comment on the story! :O These terrible posters have no respect for a clean story, and voice their opinion on the story! These horrible creatures disregard all Feedback/Discussion threads and tell the OP just how their story is--RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY! :0 So, I came to the conclusion that there needs to be a FanFiction ettiquette guide. Here it is! FanFic Ettiquette Posting on the Story Most experienced FanFic authors DO NOT like it when they are posting a very good story, and then smack-dab in the middle, some annoying nublet decides, "Oh, look, a story! I'll go read it and say what I think of it on the story itself! I don't care if the OP doesn't want me to! I don't want to post on the Feedback/Discussion thread!" And so, the ignorant little noob goes right ahead and posts on the story. HOWEVER, some posters WILL SAY in the first post that you CAN post on the story, they don't care. IN THIS CASE ONLY you may post on the story. Most to all other cases, the original post will say to comment somewhere else, like a Feedback thread. Doing this helps the OP keep track of where he/she is in the story, and most often they don't look for comments on the story (unless, of course, they said to comment on the story.) and will mostly miss your comments. Leaving Comments When you leave a comment on the Feedback thread, most OP's want actual FEEDBACK, not just a small comment. For example, this is what you might say: "Story was crappy, don't read it." Instead of just giving that, it helps the OP if you say something like this: "I didn't like it very much; it was confusing and dull. Maybe you could add some more detail and description?" This is called constructed critisism, and it would help the OP make his/her/its story better. TROLLING Yes, this subject IS important enough to get its own section. (Plus, I dedicate this section to d_bo  ) Trolling is funny to most people. A good enough troll can even get the OP to laugh along with everyone else. Anyway, I digress. Trolling in FF is not really funny anymore. People seem to think that posting "TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL" is funny. NEWSFLASH: It's not. I think a good troll (Hinty hint: d_bo) is funy once and a while, but only in moderation. I am asking all trolls to stick to funy and smart-aleck comments, nothing absolutely mean or any bashing or stuff like that. Heck, do it as much as you want, but ONLY ON THE FEEDBACK THREAD. Really, there isn't anything else, besides that, about trolling. Thanks for reading my guide! Post any suggestions or anything else on the thread and I'll get around to updating it!
that's only because FanFic is only used by a mere handful of people compared to AT. if the rest of the forums were as pointless and unpopular as here, it'd be without "chaos"
I've told you. I'm no troll. I'm an ombudsman. but. in the regular part of the forums, there tons of trolls, fail trolls, noobs, newbs, freaks, emo's, attention whores, etc me not being there wouldn't change a thing.
ombudsman     I'm flipping doing somersaults laughing at that. nice guide hun... If you add some more to it, then I'll pop a sticky on it....
@belle my ombudsman status is no laughing matter! I take offense to such amusement. shame on you. why would you sticky such nonsense. FanFic don't get there own special little rules! they already get there own special little bus.
@d_bo You're not an ombudsman. You're just some kid who likes to make everyone a bit depressed because you just 'hate' everything they write; whereas probably you're just a bit sour because you fail at writing and they don't. Just saying -Swag x
@swag I'm not entirely sure how many times I'll have to say that I have no desire to write, have no skill at writing, could care less about writing. I'm simply judging from a readers point of view. your old tired out insult of calling someone a 'kid' is lacking and unoriginal. besides the fact I'm probably older than you. as I said, I'm just an ombudsman here to state the truth and address the concerns of the majority.
whys it do hard to believe that none of you can write a good story? I'm sorry but not everyone can be successful at what they want. you guys should maybe build star wars Lego models or something.
