Anyone have a spare 2.5 inch internal hard drive? My laptop's is failing fast, and I need to move my photos off it, then music if I can. I don't have an online backup or a USB key that is sufficient. Sata 2 is fine, etc. Thanks in advance. P.s. This is the only online forum I use, I don't have, nor know anywhere else to seek help.
Lol very funny. But seriously I need help. It's failing for sure, bad sectors (14 percent), space is disappearing, windows 7 is becoming more unstable, and random programs keep starting. So if anyone does have a spare drive, please let me know, send me a wall post etc.
I'm going crazy grabbing photos before mine self explodes, I got Windows 10 about two months ago, so I saw this 'Windows.old' and me being a programmer and wanting as much space for work as possible. Deleted it proper' only to see it blew my system to pieces and left me with a non bootable laptop (BIOS can obviously load but no use as of yet) Technology -.-
When you say no online storage, are you sure? Cause there are quite a few free ones online. They might not offer a lot of storage individually, but combined you might get a enough for the important stuff. For pics you can upload to google plus for free. And chrome/google also have a free music app that you can upload your music to. Not positive but i think i read some people are storing up to 20k songs. That might of been for premium members though. Either way, you need more than just a new hard drive cause you cant transfer your files to the new one without removing the old one. See what im saying? A cheap external hard drive would be a good idea first. Then flash an image of your current one to it. Dude, deleting your "windows old" folder wont do that. It shouldn't even be accessible after one month following your upgrade. It contains a back up of your previous version of windows with all your files and stuff. Something else is the issue. Is your bios the only thing you can boot into now? Or can you still load windows/safe mode/boot mode? Sadly you cant use the f2/f8/f12 keys duriup pre boot up on win10 unless you have already set it up. If you havent yet, you can... If windows will load, (google for the exact info) -turn on "view hidden files". -open exporer, or whatever win10 may have replaced it with. -user>your user account>windows-sw or windows-rt?>%appdata%>local>roaming>...(yea, this where google comes in)>eventually to the iso of win10 stored on your computer. You can burn it or run copy it to your desktop and run it's setup option from its folder. If you can get into boot mode highjack a freinds laptop and download the iso from Microsoft. You can then burn it as a bootable disc or thumb drive and reinstall. I hate to ask the obvious but have, you checked your back ups and restore points? Id hope you did since you labelled yourself as a programmer. That should be normal routine for you.
