Name Exploit Response This was posted in the other thread, but highlighted here as well: Definitely cannot to respond to all of the questions and issues brought up so far, but here are some general responses: 1) Although we have the ability to change the rules of the game at any time, we made this decision because it was beneficial to the community as a whole. This was an exploit that we did not foresee, and therefore, we did not make a rule against it initially. Upon seeing what players were doing, we realized the consequences of this and moved to stop it from happening. 2) On the matter of a free name change back. It is clear that the players who did this, did so because they wanted to gain a clear, unfair advantage in Estoc Trials. If that was not the case, you would not need to change your name, since you aren't playing in Estoc Trials. You are allowed to keep the rewards you have earned so far, which is more than fair. In the future, instead of trying to gain an unfair advantage over your opponents, rise above that and help us make the system better. Exploiting it for your personal gain, at the cost of others, is your choice. We are not going to help you when we change the rules because of your exploits. War #11 Signups: 27 No Match: 3 A Team Corp. - Your BFA was 3X lower than any other possible matches. Legionaries Asylum - Your BFA was 2.5X lower than any other possible matches. -RCA- - All clans near your strength level and BFA signed up with more members War #12 Signups: 47 No Match: 5 The French Knights - A high member size and low BFA made it hard for us to find you a suitable match. WarLoR - Very high BFA, with only one possible match. However, your clan size was too small to match with them. DRAGONS SANCTUARY - Your BFA was over 2X higher than anyone near you in strength. Middle Earth 1st Regiment - Good strength and BFA! But your high member signup size made it impossible for us to find you a match. S.O.T.R.A Folkvangr - Your BFA is over 3X larger than clans in your range. Numbers Breakdown War #11 War #12
Devs must really need the money because they have to resort to basically forcing people to change their name
@KaW_Admin In the Apoc vs. ZAFT war a whole clan basically change their names to M and W names to avoid being tracked. They were not taking control of that exploit for an unfair advantage in EE, but a need in war. How will you give these people compensation if they still war with their war names?
Devs blew a perfect opportunity to gain respect from the community on this long name decision... instead they end up looking greedy and pompous, all for a few dollars. Bad form
@kaw_admin.. PC users have the advantage over phone users for tracking barcodes.. Why the discrepancy?? why can't phone users Copy and paste names from clan chat too? or better yet, simply tap the update in cc for a link to that players profile page.
or an even simpler way to even the field for everyone would be to add clan member list rank number to the cc KO updates.
Haha this is such a joke... "Hurrrrr we decided to change the rules on something that has been going on for months and was clearly within the scope of the game. Now you have to give us money!" Good one.
Most of you are misunderstanding. Barcodes and names like the worms are not being banned, only names that use large letters like M and W so that the names go off the screen. This makes it impossible for iPhone or computer to track, because the name is too long to be copy/ pasted. Take the Kings for example. The name might be WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWKINGW What we would see is: WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW... This makes waring extremely difficult, so I have to agree with the devs here, as much as I'd like to call them greedy bastards again.
Adding your clan rank number to even the field would certainly take a lot of the strategy out of the game. As was the decision to ban long names. A better way to even the field for players, would be to just flip a coin to call the winner, don't you think.
