Estoc Trials Season 1 - Week 2 - *UPDATED*

Discussion in 'Past Events' started by admin, Apr 7, 2013.

  1. Week 2 Begins!

Week 2 of the first season of, Estoc Trials - The Rancor Wars, begins!! A few important notes for this week:

    * We are monitoring the match ups that are happening, and may make adjustments to the allowable ranges for week 3. However, we still need more data to make this happen.
    * Wars #3 and #7 are now back to the original time. War #12 has been moved earlier by 1 hour
    * We will not be adjusting the sign up size restrictions based on the poll that was recently run.
    * BFA Post Match adjustments - We have looked into solutions for this, but each one opens up the door for alternative exploits. At the end of the day, this is NOT a practice we feel is within the spirit of Estoc Trials. Effectively immediately, we will measure the BFA of the clan at matchup and at regular intervals throughout the war. If we find behaviour that shows that clans are exploiting this, the clan will forfeit all of the winnings of that war. If you are a victim of this, please reply to our no match war threads and we will use that information to investigate.
    * No Match info for weekends - This is something new we are doing for the community, and we are looking into getting additional support such that we can provide this data for you on the weekends as well as the weekdays.

    Updates to Rancor's Curse

We have made some subtle adjustments to Rancor's Curse. It will now expire if you leave a clan. This was done to prevent some potential exploits. It will also be cast on all winners of Rancor War events, this is also done to prevent another potential exploit. Rancor's Curse does not actively give any benefits, aside from allowing you to attack phase 2 of the new No Match Eb.

The Vanished Paladins - Epic Battle

Starting today, whenever you receive a "No Match" from signing up in an Estoc Trials, you'll be given two new super powers. These spells lasts a short period of time, but enable you to successful complete an Epic Battle against the Vanished Paladins. The reward for completing this? Mithril of course! The amount rewarded will not be the same as if you had warred, but it will at least help you prepare for the next battle with Mithril. We will be releasing this before the first war this week.

    Q: Who can participate?
A: Only players who opted in and then received a no-match scenario would be able to participate in this EB. Other players can join, but they will not be able to perform any successful actions

Q: It's not fair that only people who opted in can hit this EB! I'm stuck in this clan until they are done!
A: This is the same scenario if they had found a match.

*NOTE* We are doing this because we feel it is a fair compensation for players who receive a no match. We expect all clans to war honourably. Thus, if clans are intentionally abusing this system by intentionally signing up with clans which will generate a non-match, they will receive a warning with an explanation as to what they need to adjust. If their behaviour does not change, we may:

    * Exclude the clan from future Estoc Trials
    * Remove Mithril earned and/or reset equipment enchanted using this Mithril

PLEASE, do not make the community lose out on this opportunity. We want to keep this Epic Battle available for all players, do not force us to remove it due to abuse.

    Gameplay balance & Tweaks

We are constantly looking at the feedback we get from players, and may tweak the game if certain builds are too powerful, or are paying out a disproportionate amount.

    GMT/UK Time

We understand that UK time has changed (moved 1 hour ahead). However, GMT time is still at the same time (+7 hours to PST). Please let us know if there is still confusion here. If you live in the UK, you'll need to add one more hour to the GMT time.

    Rewards

Estoc's Edge - This will be given out as it has always been, +1 level for winning, -1 level for losing. No changes from the previous weeks.

Rancor Rage - This is an achievement given out to all players who participate in next week's Preseason (Week 0) schedule. Note that this is only given out in Week 0, and will be distributed at the conclusion of the week.

Rancor Level - Two levels of this is awarded to all winners of the Rancor Wars. One level is removed from losers of the Rancor Wars. No levels are lost when you leave a clan. These are time limited spells similar to Estoc's Edge and will expire in 2 weeks. Whenever you participate in a war, your Rancor Level's timer will reset to 2 weeks. Note that in the last 2 weeks of the season, we will award 4 levels of Rancor for every win versus the 2 for the earlier weeks.

Based on your Rancor Level, you will be eligible for the Vanished Paladin equipment rewards, given out at the conclusion of the season. They are given out as follows:

Rancor Level 50 (MAX) - 6 pieces of equipment
Rancor Level 40-49 - 5 pieces of equipment
Rancor Level 30-39 - 4 pieces of equipment
Rancor Level 20-29 - 3 pieces of equipment
Rancor Level 10-19 - 2 pieces of equipment
Rancor Level 1-9 - 1 piece of equipment

Rancor Fury - This is an achievement given out to players at the conclusion of the Rancor Wars. The higher your Rancor level, the higher your level of achievement.

    Rancor Level 50 (MAX) - Level 5
    Rancor Level 40-49 - Level 4
    Rancor Level 30-39 - Level 3
    Rancor Level 15-29 - Level 2
    Rancor Level 1-14 - Level 1

    Vanished Paladins Backstory

The equipment's coming soon, but to tide you over, here's the beginning of the Vanished Paladins story:

Long before the Mage uttered her fateful curse, an unusual incident befell the Red War Paladins…

It happened on a still, moonless night, when the faint rustle of the desert wind was the only sound to be heard. No shrieks pierced the noiseless night, yet in the morning, the captain awoke to discover five of his bravest soldiers gone—vanished without a trace.

The captain claimed the men fled of their own volition, they were cravens not worthy of the Paladin name. Yet inwardly, the captain knew this was a lie…

For the vanished knights were of the bravest stock—they had not fled, they had been taken.

    To be continued...

    Estoc Trials FAQ
    --------------------------
Q: How does the Wave of Conflict (Opt-IN) spell work?
    * Players will have to cast the Opt-In (Wave of Conflict) BEFORE matchups, casting it after matchups does not work
    * FOR ADMINS, When you sign up for an Estoc Trial, we will inform you on the # of players who have opted in for that war
    * FOR ADMINS, If your clan members affect the qualified number of participants in any way (leaving the clan, casting Wave of Conflict etc), and that number exceeds or falls below the requirements for the event, the clan will be disqualified. It will be up to you to manage your members and ensure that your clan meets the size requirements at all times.

Q: When can I leave a clan who is participating in Estoc Trials?
You may leave your clan 30 minutes before the signup ends for the upcoming war. After this point, you may no longer leave the clan until the war is over.

*CLAN ADMINS* If you want to let new members into your clan before signup ends, cancel your signup, get the new member in, and then sign up again *edit*

Q: Wave of Conflict - Clarifications
The Wave of Conflict always opts you in for the FIRST war within the next 24 hour period. Example:

    War #1 - 1 hour from now
    War #2 - 12 hours from now

Casting Wave of Conflict will only opt you in for War #1, not War #2. To opt in for War #2, you have to cast it again after War #1 is over.

    Q: Forfeit Option
There will be no forfeit option in all Estoc Trial - Rancor Wars.

Cool sounds like some good tuning has been made.

  3. Re: Estoc Trials Season 1 - Week 2

Devs may I ask where the no match threads are? We would appreciate if we could see what just caused us a no match, but understand you guys must be busy.

  4. Re: Estoc Trials Season 1 - Week 2

Ty kaw but could you please put out the no match reasons for the past wars so we can adjust accordingly? Ty

    Ty kaw admin :D

  6. Re: Estoc Trials Season 1 - Week 2

    Oh, also, on another note.

What do you guys think about these two ideas.

The Vanquished Paladins EB already drops some mith, as if you had won the war.

So how about allowing the EB to also reset the timer on the Rancors Rage and Estoc Edge spells?

Not give another level, but just make the timer go back to 335/336, as I'd you had gained another level.

    --------
    Second idea.

How about giving clans who don't match up, one level of Rancor Rage, not the two they would get if you won, but just one level increase.

I feel it wouldn't be such a kick in the teeth to get a no match up then, and others would agree.

Otherwise unlucky clans like ours will never get the chance to get our 50 levels.

    Thanks!
    Anarchy.
