DISCUSSION: A Society Without Gender

  1. DISCUSSION:
    A Society Without Gender

The whole world was hearing how the pair sent out an email to relatives and friends after Storm’s birth, informing them that they wouldn’t be announcing their child’s gender as a "tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm’s lifetime."

People had big reactions to these news, and they were not generous and understanding. The family received a lot of angry letters, and on the internet people called the parents "insane" and that it was "child abuse".

Debates about gender equality are often going on, but for many that is not enough; they want gender neutrality. Sweden did, in 2012, introduce a new gender-neutral pronoun: "hen". A swedish clothes company removed the "girls" and "boys" sections in its stores. Activists have the idea that names should not at all be tied to gender, for example that a girl could be named Jack and a boy Lisa.

The idea is that there should exist no gender, all words that says something about gender would not exist (words like "man", "woman", "boy", and "girl"). This will remove gender roles and gender steriotypes, but would it be to go too far?

This was just a brief introduction to the discussion, feel free to discuss anything that is relevant.

How far should we let this go? Will it be possible to have a society without gender, and why would we want that? Eventually, why not? Dicuss!

  2. So, some people call it "gender neutrality," I think that's just a euphemism for perversion.

I don't buy the gender identity nonsense. If you have junk, you're a male. Otherwise you're a female.

Never before has society been so hyper liberal that now our cultural sensitivity has usurped freedom of speech. We've lost our way when we can no longer express our opinion about an issue without being called "bigot."

And please cut the (insert sensitive issue prefix)phobia crap. Just because I disagree with something doesn't mean I fear it.

  3. I don't think that it's possible NOW to have, or ever will have a gender neutral world, unfortunately the world is far too full of closed minds and lack of acceptance.

Would it change things? Well, some things of course.

Gender inequality? From what I've seen it seems to swing both ways, men and women are both descriminated against. Would it change anything? Maybe it would, it would atleast be one less thing for someone to descriminate another person for.

  4. Gender is something that the world has spun in some pretty bad directions, but things have improved. Women fought for their rights and rightfully received what they demanded. Men made themselves the rulers of the "free world" and left no room for women in the chain of command.

Today, even after suffrage, we have women fighting for more. That's a different discussion though. I imagine this thread falls more under the LGBT rather than gender and rights.

I don't think a person should have the choice to chose whether they want to be classed as a boy or a girl. However, I do believe they have the right in choosing who they love in life. There should under no circumstance be any restriction on love.

A person is born with certain physical attributes that class them as either male or female. They have no choice in this, nor did any person ever. This is something you are born with.

There's been advancements in science that allow people to change their gender through surgery and hormone intake, and I believe this is perfectly fine. If you desire the other gender, then go for it. But this is not something you can "choose" at birth.

  5. What do people feel about the new Transgender law regarding rest room usage? There's been an uproar about Target allowing it in their stores.
For instance, I can wake up today, put on a wig and identify as a woman and use the ladies restroom thanks to laws like it.

Are our kids or women safe when there's a potential man in the next stall?

Can someone show me the gay gene? I don't believe that people are born gay, rather it's a product of the environment in almost every case.
There are over 30 sexual orientations now. Does that even make sense? It's easy to see social media websites like Tumblr have strongly influenced teens.

    Androgynosexual
    Androsexual
    Asexual
    Autosexual
    Bisexual
    Demisexual
    Gray-A
    Gynosexual
    Heterosexual
    Heteroflexible
    Homosexual
    Homoflexible
    Objectumsexual
    Pansexual/Omnisexual
    Polysexual
    Queer
    Skoliosexual

Here's a few, but there are new ones being made on Tumblr everyday.

  6. Just as safe as if there is a potential woman in the next stall.

Are our men safe if there is a potential man in the next stall?

  7. I support that we all go extinct and let the Crenga take charge.

    ALL HAIL THE CRENGA OVERLORDS

  8. So you're okay with the women in your life using the *ladies* restroom with men? Just because the men say they identify as female?
How is that fair to the women?

Like I said, I don't need to shave to even look passable. I can say I identify as female right now, and enter the ladies restroom. There's so much wrong with that.
I just saw a YouTube video about a straight man who did that as social experiment. Guess what? They had to let him use the ladies restroom.

Hope you know that's not the solution.

  9. Don't forget quadsexual genderqueer otherkin, like me.

  10. Just to pick up on that, people born the "wrong gender" generally don't get to "choose" what they want to be, think of it more like a compulsion, or being born inside a prison, would you really like to spend your entire life feeling like you weren't in your own body?

May I ask you, apart from the physical differences, what is actually different between men and women?

There was a Roman dude called Galen that believed we were all 'blank slates' at birth, and that women were just men with their bits turned inside them.

Is gender just a social construct?

  11. I'm curious as to how you think that's ANY different to a man using the stall next to another man, or worse, a boy.

Should we place ever more protections around people?

sorry sir, you entered within shooting range of that lady, you're now on the offenders register!

  12. Or how about unisex toilets? Get rid of them?

There's a festival! We need men's toilets at one side, women's at the other!

If you go down the line you're going, those 30 or whatever different sexual identities will each need their own toilet, or block of toilets.

Also while I'm at it, why does there need to be a gay gene? What difference does it make if some women choose to be with women, men choose to be with men. Why does it even matter?

  13. I'm all for just going by biological gender, it gets confusing and let's be plain, if everyone gets to call themselves whatever they want eventually you'll reach a point where there is no way to address a person without them being offended.

Honestly life is too short to worry about what people call you, just chill and be you, if you label something you change it.

  14. No? Excluding physical attributes there's chemical attributes that differentiate the two, but I assume you wanted all things similar to physical attributes exempted from the question as well.

Gender isn't a social construct, there's plenty of psychological differences between male and females.

  15. In males and females yes.

    But not in transgendered no.

Not conclusive I admit, but gets you thinking.

  16. Transgender at birth is a physiological defect. I don't think it's fair to compare them to non-defective males and females

  17. Well said

  18. Gender identity and sėxual identity are two things formed as a child.

i dont think it would be good, nor healthy to further confuse and bombard kids with the idea of gender neutrality.

preferably, instead of judging ppl on their sėxual identity and platforming them as such, accept them for what gender they identify with themselves.

how horrid it must be, to not feel comfortable in your own skin and want to be something society says is "weird" so bad it crushes your heart and soul.

this i see as the real tragedy, as society leans on those complexities, and bends those different to it curve, causing so much agony.

  19. THANK YOU, i agree.

Modern mentality ill feminists, sjws, liberals, all that cancer is to be blamed. And excessive political correctness crap, pretty much anything can be a "phobia" nowadays.

  20. What I think is sad is when people succumb to perversion and feel ashamed of their natural gender.

We should encourage children to embrace their natural bodies.

Why are some people so eager to encourage kids to take artificial medications and cut off parts of their bodies in order to satisfy some sexual urge?

    THAT is a tragedy.
