  1. Hello everyone! It is my first time being on forums so I'm glad to meet others. I have read threads and read interesting stories and figured why not bring a story that I am writing into here. I hope everyone takes a great interest. If it's too long and you didn't read it, I understand. As for everyone else who did, I hope you enjoy this story.

Kingdoms At War: Champion of the Frozen Tundra

Nalovanth, a Human who was trained in the ways of the Light. He served for justice and for truth and would cure diseases of the unholy. He stood tall at 6'4" with long golden hair, smooth shaven face, blue eyes, and a bright smile. His smile gave hope, his light gave courage, his sword gave strength, his armor gave justice. A Paladin, who walked the path of light at merely the age of 18 and became very well known in his Kingdom of Silverwind City at the age of 21, was greatly appreciated and celebrated for all his heroic deeds.

Suddenly, darkness came into his throne room and a dark figure appeared. She was wearing the cloak of a Warlock and her skin appeared as an undead. She saw Nalovanth and bowed in respect. Nalovanth returned the honor and talked to the oracle. "King Nalovanth," the oracle said with great enthusiasm. "The great hero of Silverwind City, I have come to you with urgent news." Nalovanth knew that the oracle would never say urgent news unless his city was at threat. "Speak Oracle," he said with concern. "what dangers are lurking around my city this time?"

The oracle looked at him with a dark concern, something far more dark and evil than the city having a threat. "I am afraid it is not your city you should worry about," the oracle said darkly. "It is the frozen tundra up north you should worry the most." Nalovanth's fears of the north has started to happen like his dreams told him. "My lord, you must head north to the Frozen Tundra of Nevara. The Death King is awakening from his slumber and he is not only planning in wreaking havoc in your city, but also plan on doing so to the entire world." Nalovanth looked down at his hand and saw Holy Light covering his gauntlet. The warmth of the light is trying to feed him hope and to not fear the darkness that occurs in Nevara. He then looks up with determination and bravery.

"Oracle," Nalovanth speaks. "Why now? I thought we had more time until I am a fully fledged Paladin. I have yet to reach the extent of the Light." The Oracle nods in agreement. "Yes Nalovanth, that is true. You have yet to become a full fledged Paladin." The Oracle starts to think for a moment then looks up. "But all is not lost. This, my lord, is where you must put your light to the test." The Oracle goes towards Nalovanth, and with her dark hand, she touches his hand. Nalovanth starts to shout in pain as he can feel the darkness trying to consume him, but because he carried the light, he charges the holy power within him and banishes the darkness from within.

"What treachery is this Oracle!?!" Nalovanth asked angrily as he was ready to draw his weapon. "Calm Nalovanth. What I did was give you a taste of what Nevara is like." The Oracle, with her darkened eyes, bowed her head to show she didn't mean any harm. Nalovanth understood, she was only trying to help him. "I see now," he said calmly. "Forgive me for my misunderstanding Oracle. I did not realize you were trying to help." The Oracle looked up and said, "All is well will end well my lord. As I said, you must go to Nevara and put the Death King back into his slumber." Nalovanth started looking confused. "Why can't I just destroy him?"

"Because my lord, if you are to destroy him, you will become the next Death King. The light will not save you. But do hear this, if you put the Death King into his slumber, he will not disturb the world for another 500 years. If you kill him, you will take his place, but your slumber will last for over many millenias." Nalovanth had to think about the choice the Oracle gave him. "Choose wisely my lord, for only you, have the power to save your people and the entire world." The Oracle summoned the darkness and vanished into thin air with the darkness disappearing.

Nalovanth summoned his servants. "Get my men and the ships ready," Nalovanth commanded. "But my lord," the servants said with grief. "You and the men have just came back from slaying Sylvannis Sinestra. You and them are in dire need of rest." Nalovanth looked down with sadness. "We will depart in 3 days. That is as much rest I can grant." Nalovanth departed from the throne room and climbed up to the Balcony. His wife, Melora, came to comfort him. "Why is my husband so frightened all of a sudden?" Melora said calmly trying to comfort him. She started removing his armor and was caressing him to make him relax. "I was given terrible news my love," Nalovanth said quietly. "Yes I know," Melora said with grief of worriness. "My husband, I do not want anything to happen to you. You know I cared about you since we were just children." She started tearing up, but Nalovanth grabbed her and wiped her tears. "Nothing will happen to me. These are my people that I must protect. As much as I cherish our love, I also cherish life... But because I cherish life, I must protect it."

He looked outside and started having imaginations and dreams of how beautiful life is. "I can imagine a world without violence, without the need of senseless killing. I remember as a child we would go to the forest to play with the Centaurs. They would take us to the mountains and to the fields. Seeing flowers and animals running in the distance with their pack, shows how we are. I feel sad that we have to use some of their homeland to make our homeland. But I cherish all life so much that I even forged a pact with them. They know live within this kingdom. They grow beautiful life, flowers, they even grew the largest tree man has ever seen. This is what I must protect Melora." He turned around and looked at his wife. He then walked up to her and touched her stomach. "If I want our child to see how beautiful life really is, then I must protect what we all we have. It is the best I can do." His wife looked at him and smiled and they kissed.

3 days have passed and Nalovanth and his men are getting ready to set sails. With his wife in the distance looking, Nalovanth caught the attention of his men. "When we set sail, I am not your king, I am not your ruler, I am not your commander. I am your ally, your comrade. I am your righteous sword of justice and I am your shield in battle. I will fight alongside you and I will die alongside you. If we are to die as soon as we get to Nevara, just know that you will never be forgotten! You will all be remembered forever in this day and age! Once we land foot on Nevara, we will show the Death King and his minions, no matter how dark the land is, light will always prevail! Stand beside me my brothers! We shall soon give our people the peace that they deserve!" The men shouted their battlecry with enthusiam. "Men, my brothers... Fathers, sons, cousins that have joined this day... It is time... To be rid of this darkness once and for all!!!!" The men shouted without fear and began to set sail. The Oracle stood atop a mountain with no expression. "It has begun my lord. It is now time for you to become the Death King."
