Amazon was originally incorporated in Washington state in 1994, but re-incorporated in Delaware (!) in 1996; a State which levies no corporation tax on earnings from goods and services provided outside that State. Amazon operates freely within the EU single market because it (and many other multinational companies) has a corporate headquarters in the Republic of Ireland. Until very late in 2014 the R.O.I. did not insist that companies based there also be registered there for tax purposes, allowing such companies to avoid paying Corporation Tax within the EU (hence the "illegal state aid" finding by the EU Commission). This has now been abolished but will only take effect on pre-registered companies from 2020. What I find interesting is that after the United Kingdom leaves the EU Single Market, Amazon will lose its trading privileges with the UK. UK consumer will still be able to buy their Goods from the UK store but will be subject to Customs duties (at whatever tariffs are decided) as it will be provided by an external company. Amazon will not be able to provide Services to UK customers, such as Amazon Marketplace, Amazon Prime, unless a specific free trade agreement allows for external Services. Or unless Amazon incorporates in the United Kingdom. If it does so it will be able to freely provide goods and services, but at the cost of having to pay Corporation Tax to HMG at the going rate (may be subject to change if Mrs May was serious about lowering rates). Or unless a free-trade agreement is reached with the U.S.A. that covers reciprocal rights for Service industries. I'm now waiting for some libtard Shadow Minister to tell me that Brexit is still worse than Hitler coming to power. Opportunities look fantastic to me
Why is that person's name censored, when Stalin's is not? Liberal bias. Stalin was responsible for more deaths, but no-one ever says "wouldn't it be great to go back in time and kill Josef Stalin". smh Edit, not saying that the censored person was not an inhuman monster-(expletive censored, sigh)
