Fore note: If you have read the Myst books some names will be familiar and the plot of the story kinda shows itself PROLOGUE The cool mists that appeared over Levilthrie Castle were unnatural, and had an unforgiving aura. A cloaked figure whispered ancient curses outside the gates. The mists descended onto the tall spires and walkways, and seeped into every window and door. The mysterious man heard the clatter of mail suits and whirled his cloak around him, and he was gone. The guards clattered out into the courtyard to find… nobody. Screamed could be heard outside, and the guards turned around to face the castle, and saw the mist ignite in a deafening explosion. Flaming servants and guards flung themselves out of shattered windows, flailing their arms and screaming. A dark figure jumped the rooftops of the kingdom, passing forges, factories, and huge circles with red markings strewn all over it in a twisted pattern. He almost missed the Guilds in the eerie twilight, and started mumbling in Ancient again. "What a sad loss! I'm surprised they never spotted me!" he said to himself, chuckling. CHAPTER 1 King Aitrus and his trusted friend Veovis stood side by side, staring at the wreckage of the kingdom from a ruined balcony. "How could this have happened, Veovis? Who could sneak in?" "I don't know, sir." "How many times do I have to tell you, to you I am not sir!" they were silent for a moment, then Veovis turned and left Aitrus on the balcony. Guards game up behind Aitrus and grabbed his arms. Aitrus tried to fight them off, but it was two against one. "Let me go! I demand you let…" another guard gagged him and stuck a noxious poison vile in his mouth. His sight was swirled, colors were too bright, and his head felt numb. He saw Veovis trying to fight off the guards, but the guards didn't stop taking Aitrus to wherever they were taking him. "AITRUS!" Veovis screamed as the guards shut the large, burnt oak doors. Veovis checked around him, and then whipped his robes around him, and disappeared. A slight laugh sounded from where he was, and then there was no trace that he was there at all.
