So, anyone watching the news this morning will be aware that a Russian SU-24 warplane has been shot down near the Syria-turkey border, this poses a few questions. Russia has violated British airspace in the last few years and whilst it has been reputed that the warplanes entered British airspace, Russia's honesty is at best questionable recently, however they claim to be able to prove that this incident was in Syrian airspace. What does this mean for the Middle East? What does this mean for turkey? Would they be backed by the west? Will Russia pursue action? Will they prove to the world that this was a Turkish error? Is this the beginning of a new war?
I don't know how I feel about this. But I assume it'll go down similar to the whole civilian plane incident a while ago. Covered by the media instantaneously and then re-routed to the ISIS issue. But Putin/whomever is currently in charge of Russia is unpredictable, comrade.
^A world war between who? Syria (specifically ISIS) and EVERYONE WHO HATES ISIS (which is a pretty long list) or the countries involved with this plane downing?
It's going to be a complicated world war if there is one. In the past it's been 2 sided whereas now there will be a few sides. ISIS will be a common enemy but I predict Russia will push too far and make more enemies.
It's nothing it's just a warning to Russia that they have to be careful not to bomb turkmenen that lives in Syria near turkey border a few days ago Russia bombed and around 30 turkmenen living in Syria were killed so this incident is just a warning to Russia there will be no war between Russia and turkey !
ISIS and everyone who hates them. I also feel very bad for the muslims a lot of people are lashing against the culture completely.
Though geographically you could argue this involves ISIS, this isn't about them, this is purely about established countries, not groups that wish they were counted as a country, thus ISIS aren't included. I'm also quite sure everyone vs Isis wouldn't constitute a world war. ------ Putin has said there will be serious consequences, whilst the military power of Russia is debatable, Putin is quite easily the most powerful nutjob in the world, who knows where this is going to go? I wonder.. Will turkey be backed by the west if they can prove their airspace was infringed? Or will the west fail to learn from the 30's that appeasement doesn't work in the face of expansive aggression?
Turkey is a member of NATO meaning many western countries would have to get involved because of many treaties
Imo no big nation can wage a war. Eu has Israel and USA as their allies, Russia has China. Either way an escalation would probably end in billions of deaths.
Look for China to put pressure on Turkey in the next week. It will probably be through diplomacy, economically and probably launching anti-terror attacks on Uyghurs. (If that doesn't makes sense you don't pay attention) Who knows what Russia will do? I really expected a US plane to be the center of controversy in this strange conflict we called the Syrian Civil War. I can only imagine every form of subversion will be used against Turkey from Iran, Russia, Turkish-Kurds, and the Chinese. Watch the papers...
I am an American, born and bred. I feel that Putin has bigger man parts than my current president as he is not sitting on a sideline cheering. Putin is putting his troops in harms way to lean on Isis. Which in turn is not a country or governing body at this time. If they are reported in Syria, then he is doing the right thing. The Syrian govt and or leaders need to protect their people or hold Isis accountable. Don't make this so dramatic. Billions of people will not die in my opinion
