Introduction Many players in Kingdoms At War (KAW) find the beginning of the game quite difficult because although this seems like every other mobile phone game of this genre it has some wildly different concepts. Getting started is often tough because key elements of knowledge like the importance of allies to increase plunder are difficult to explain in quick in-game tutorials so the developers rely on new players being helped and taught by the existing player community. This guide is not a full explanation of the mechanics of the game it is simply a series of instructions that will help you to make a very fast start to the game. I will add more hubs in this series exploring each mechanic in detail. Please make sure you read through the whole guide once first before starting out! Starting Concepts Clans - A lot of the social element of the game comes from being in a clan. In a clan you can socialise and be part of a group of up to 100 members and more importantly you can hit one of the main revenue streams in the game, “Epic Battles”. As part of this guide you will need to join a clan and hit a specific set of Epic Battles Epic Battle Item Phases - In certain Epic Battles there are “item phases”. What is special about these phases is that any player regardless of size can take part in them and successfully “hit” in the battle. The result of this is they will then get a portion of the Epic Battle bonus which is paid at the end Volley - A volley is when a player is repeatedly hired over and over again by two or more players. This can be very profitable for the players being hired. But most importantly it does generate revenue for the person being hired (initially, YOU) The New Land Trick - When you do spend money on buildings and land the first thing to learn is when you unlock a land for the very first time if you build a balanced troop building (Stable, Beastiary, War Aviary..) on the land immediately it will be built and give you 500 troops. This set of 500 troops is the same a full troop regen (26 hits) Quick Start Guide - Phase 1 (Starting Cash) After the tutorial where you named your kingdom and built a troop and spy building either side of your castle navigate to World Chat and ask for a ‘volley’. Simply type: “I am new, please volley me?”In most cases an initial volley will raise your hire price from $10,000 to $2-5 billion it should take several minutes and should leave you with several million gold (still a relatively small amount). For example a volley that raises your price to $1 billion should give you approximately $60 million gold Quick Start Guide - Phase 2 (Your First Buildings) The temptation at this stage will be to spend all of your money right away but DO NOT do this. There are several tiers of buildings which you are given access to as you unlock lands. You will now use the new land trick and your volley money to unlock lands.Unlock one land and immediately build a stable on it. This will give you 500 troops.Go to the quests section and complete the first quest called “Excavate” over and over until you have no troops left. One advantage of repeatedly completing this quest is that it is easy which means you will have a very low fail rate. More importantly though is that quests have a 0.79% chance of giving you a nobility point. Nobility points can be exchanged for propacks in the “Oracle” section of the game.Repeat steps 2 and 3 in this section until you have 9 lands unlocked. This will cost $2,735,000 for the lands and $175,000 for the stables Quick Start Guide - Phase 3 (Your First Epic Battle) You are now aiming to join a clan that is running one of the following 3 Epic Battles The Reckoning - Healing Aura - $62,500 Origins - Scroll Of The Mage’s Eye - $5,000 No Mans Land - Runes Of Detection - 37,500 Note - This early in the game when your stats are next to non-existent you might find that clans running Epic Battles above The Reckoning may not accept you. Once you join a clan running one of the above spend all of your remaining money on the relevant potion for it. Ideally buying hundreds of that potion and using as many as you can during the item phase. (For information on how to hit an item phase please check out my other hub dedicated toEpic Battle Item Phases)Once the battle is completed successfully you will receive a large gold bonus which you can now spend on your kingdom! Quick Start Guide - A quick footnote about Allies Allies are HUGELY important in Kingdoms At War. So much so that in the next few days I will have a dedicated Hub setup to explain all their tips and tricks. For now as a new player you should understand the following basics When you attack Epic Battles and other players with troops then the total $ value of your allies will raise the amount of money you earn per hitA small percentage of your Allies’ attack and defence stats (2%) is added to your stats when you attack or defend Make sure you spend some of the money you earn from Epic Battles on Allies!
Introduction In Kingdoms At War, the most important element of the game is allies. New players often miss their importance and existing players spend many hours teaching new players how to wield allies correctly. This guide should give you the knowledge to make sure you are getting the full use of your allies. Max Plunder and Ally Plunder Whenever you hit a player or an Epic Battle successfully the victory screen will display (amongst other information): The Total Gold WonPlunderAllies Bonus In order to get your allies bonus you will need a certain gold value of allies owned. Remember it is not the number of allies, or their attack and defence characteristics that is factored in here it is simply the total gold value of the allies you own. Your Allies Bonus is set/capped by the number of lands you have unlocked and the level, tier and type of the building you have on them. Generally speaking (although there are some incredibly complex behind the scenes game mechanics) the bigger you are the more you can make per hit. What often catches new players out is a) that they don’t realise they need to own allies to make more money per hit and b) they never invest enough as the amounts are very high to begin with but reach a peak at around 20,000,000,000 billion gold. There are two relatively easy methods to check that you have enough invested in allies Testing Ally Plunder – The Combined Stat (CS) method On your profile there is a section of your stats that are your “Bonus To Allies”. You have Troop Attack, Troop Defence, Spy Attack and Spy Defence values. If you add all of these values together they become your CS (Combined Stats) value. Multiply this value by 5,500 and this will give you the total gold you need to have invested in allies. For Example: Troop Attack: 85,000 Troop Defence: 85,000 Spy Attack: 12,000 Spy Defence: 12,000 Combined Stats (CS) = 85,000 + 85,000 + 12,000 + 12,000 = 194,000 Total Ally investment required for Max Ally Plunder = 194,000 x 5,500 = 1,067,000,000 Testing Ally Plunder – The Hit and Buy Method Another method that can be used to test if you have enough invested for max plunder is to attack either a player or epic battle once and write down how gold your allies bonus earned you. Then purchase an ally for whatever amount you wish and then hit again. If your allies bonus went up you are not at maximum so repeat the process again until your ally bonus remains the same. It is important to note that if you do this test you must hit the same player or Epic Battle as you test. Do not switch from one to the other as the amount you get from hitting different players and Epic Battles varies on their relative strength. Bonus From Allies – Allies you own make you stronger Another crucial element of owning allies is the fact that owning them makes your kingdom stronger. When you view another player or ally you can see their public stats. If you own that player as an ally then 2% of their stats are added to yours. So if a player has the following characteristics: Troop Attack: 20,000Troop Defence: 20,000Spy Attack: 10,000Spy Defence: 10,000 Then your stats will increase as follows Troop Attack: 400Troop Defence: 400Spy Attack: 200Spy Defence: 200 The gains may seem small at first but since you can own hundreds of allies the cumulative effect of their stats can have a huge difference to your strength. Many of the leader board players have increased their maximum stats many times over by owning hundreds of large players. Dropping an Ally Sometimes you might want funds in a rush and one way to get them if you cannot sell an ally is to drop them. If you mistakenly hired an ally or got scammed by someone and really want the funds back then this might be better than having your gold tied up forever. This is not a preferred option as you will only receive a maximum of 58% of their value back and only if you have owned the ally for more than 15 days. If you have owned the ally for 0 days you receive only 4.5% of their value back. For each day that you own the ally the percentage of their value you will receive will increase until it reaches the maximum 58% When an ally is dropped its price is immediately reduced by 25% and for every 3 days the ally remains ownerless its price will drop a further 25%
Introduction (For those of you just looking for specific quest information please scroll down to the table at the bottom) The Quest section of Kingdoms At War has remained largely unchanged for the entire time the game has been available for download. This really stands out when looking at the gold you are rewarded for completing the quests. The figures are really low when you consider you could earn so much more doing Epic Battle item phases. That said quests are still useful for two (possibly 3 depending on your outlook on game completion) reasons. First the quests offer crystals as a bonus at fixed points; these crystals are used for regenerating your troops and spies which is very useful using them on other players or Epic Battles can earn you a lot of extra money. The only other source of crystals is to purchase them and if you only bought one at a time it is going to cost you just under a dollar for the privilege. Crystals have been dropped from quests randomly but the drop rate is so small it has not been successfully measured by players. Second every time you successfully complete a quest there is small chance that you will receive a nobility point. Various players have run tests to determine the probability of a nobility award with varying figures from 0.73% up to 2%. The generally accepted figure is a 1% approximate drop rate. Nobility points can be used for a number of in game actions. You can buy propacks, change your name regenerate your troops or exchange the points directly for gold. Lastly quest completion does provide you with an achievement for quest mastery. Getting the achievement gives no bonus to your account unlike some of the other achievements. The game developers have now altered the game so that quests do not reset when a player resets their accounts. Quest nobility drop rate has not been changed. There is no limit to the number a times a quest can be attempted.
