2014: The Year in Review The year is coming to a close, and it's been a great one. Time has gone by so quickly this year. It feels like 2014 just began. Lets look at this year, in pictures. Sports The 2014 Winter Olympics at Sochi The World Cup And who could forget the 7-1 domination that Germany put down on the home team, Brazil.. Champions! Some Random Beautiful Sports Photos Achievements European scientists were able to successfully land a satellite into a comet, the first time it has ever been done. If you think that parallel parking is difficult, imagine landing a satellite on a tiny stable area on a large comet moving thousands of miles per hour. American doctor Nina Pham overcomes the disease Ebola, and is completely healed thanks to our great doctors and technology. Scientists have been able to invent a 3D Printer that can print 3D objects if given just a picture. It is a truly amazing achievement, and it is hoped that one day prosthetics organs could be created by this. The limits are endless. A company called Hendo Hoverboards have been able to invent a functional hoverboard! That being said, it only hovers about an inch above the ground, and only works on conductive material like copper. Your SciFi dream can come true at just the pre-ordered price of $10,000! Noteworthy Events of 2014 For all of you with OCD, this is in order of date! well... Mostly January 1st: Marijuana was legalized in Colorado on January 1st. Since then, several other states have legalized it. March 22: A mudslide near Oso, Washington killed 43 and destroyed many houses. Many more than 43 were effected. April 29: Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling receives a life-time ban from the NBA after racist comments went public. July 17: Eric Garner choked to death by a NYPD policeman, even after saying that he could not breathe multiple times. It was later decided that the police man would not be indicted. Since then, many people have been protesting, including athletes like LeBron James. August 9: Michael Brown is shot several times and killed in a town called Ferguson, Missouri. This created many riots throughout the US, especially after the policeman was not indicted. October 8: American Thomas Eric Duncan dies of Ebola, becoming the first person to die of it in the USA. Since then, many people have been cured of the disease, and the light at the end of the tunnel is approaching. December 3: After five years of review, the Senate Intelligence Committee releases a report on the CIA's use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" in the post-9/11 era. It reveals that "CIA detainees were tortured."
