I read an old thread that stated that the best war build is 10 Subs, 10 Guilds and 2 of each tower. is this still the case? Also what would be a good offensive troop build for war?
I believe it's 12subs +12guilds (PS. Towers do not give plunder) (PSS. You can make up for toweres with pots)
I liked GodSIN's old war build better. I believe it was 86,400/57,600/256,500/270,000. Low troops+high allies means he can fully unload on an enemy without worrying that his attack will go down. 57,600 makes it seem as if he's weak and other players fail to get past his strong defenses from his allies and potions. The high spy attack is useful in stripping and weakening opponents while keeping his plunder bonus extremely high. The spy defense tower prevents noobs with 5,400 spy stats from assisting a strip. This is actually nearly the perfect build for every situation, even peace time. His attack is insanely high and the amount of troops he has has nearly no effect on his attack strength. His defense is underestimated and makes the enemy lose many troops. His spy attack is high in assisting anything, and his spy defense will nearly block out any type of strip attack. Additionally, his plunder with this build is very high (9,504,000 gold) overshadowing the spy def tower. The only problems that I see with this build are the small possibility of a strip and the high ally cost. The possibility of a strip is extremely small because 1. his allies cost too much, 2. he has a lot of guilds, and 3. his spy def towers prevents noobs from helping. This can be patched up by adding more spy defense towers. However, you lose plunder so insert more towers only in war time. As for the ally amount, just buy a lot of allies and you'll get there eventually >.<.
Thank you guys, and special thanks to blumpy for breaking down everything for me. However, as those builds are a bit too spy oriented for me are there any more troop oriented builds that are effective in war?
Take a look at iAlchemist's build. 302,400/201,600/13,500/135,000. His attack is very large and backed by ally power, it can be very very strong. His level 4 guild is to scout and help in strips, and he is almost unstrippable with his 135,000 spy defense. The only shortcomings I see are the spy stats and plunder. 13,500 spy attack can't do much besides helping strips against people with less than 13,500 spy defense which is somewhat rare. Also, his plunder bonus is extremely low (4,536,000), although it doesn't really matter because war builds are quite temporary. While this is less item dependant, it isn't useful for every situation like GodSIN's is.
