  1. Full back story for the Guardians of the Prismatic Flame

Recommend that you listen to the song "Ad Victoriam" by Ensiferum while reading ;)

Long ago, a great evil cast its shadow across the land. The Earth itself became corrupt, men behaved as beasts, and an eternal night encompassed the world. Some believed the cause of this evil was a user a dark magic, a sorcerer of unholy intent. The wise were granted no such blissful ignorance. They knew it to be an ageless, ancient force, one spawned before time. They gave it a name, the Abyssal Shadow.

A few valiant warriors initially fought against this evil. Had they succeeded, they’d be known as heroes. As such, most fell victim to dark allure of power the Abyssal Shadow tempted them with. Twisted beyond recognition, the tortured souls served a new master. Those that resisted the temptation now lie dead, their skeletal corpses strewn down the path to the Shattered Realm.

Ages came and went, all tainted by the touch of the Abyssal Shadow.

Near the end of one these ages, a council was formed, hidden from the wraiths of the darkness. This council was composed of the greatest men in the land; a final, desperate effort that would result in either victory or the extinction of humanity. For twelve days they spoke, and for twelve days no progress was made.

On the thirteenth day a visage of Ilyss, Goddess of Starlight, appeared before the council. She instructed them as how to forge a weapon of unimaginable power, one that could stand against the Abyssal Shadow, nay, defeat it. She would give them the materials and they would forge the weapon: A fusion of the mundane and the divine.

As her vision dissipated, two bright streaks of fire thrust through the night sky and landed amidst the council in a blaze of starlight. Recognizing these for their form of divine aid, over the next three days the council forged two blades out of what the goddess bequeathed to them. The finished swords hardly deserved to be called so. Dull blue in color, softer than the wooden swords the army sparred with, they were an utter disappointment. In great disdain the great warriors of the age rejected the swords, confident that the Gods had abandoned them. There would be no true aid coming from the heavens. The war would be decided by mortal men and steel weapons. Named the Blades of Shattered Hope, they were cast aside as the army prepared for war.

It was a bleak day when the two armies collided. The armies of the Abyssal Shadow were vast, stretching from horizon to horizon in a sea of darkness. The armies of the man numbered but thousands. Taking strength from man finally united under the single banner of a Golden Sunrise, they went to battle. The initial clash of the opposing forces shook the very Earth beneath them. For but an instant the armies of light bore the brunt of the darkness, then they were crushingly overwhelmed. Dark Wraiths gutted the army from its center while horrors that were once men cut down the frontlines. The darkness was too tainted, too consuming to resist. Even united, man was helpless.

As ranks began to fall back in defeat, as the army began to scatter, a lone warrior known as Shorok Kal resisted the urge to flee. In his hands were Blades of Shattered Hope. Unbeknownst the forgers, the swords were but steel only in the hands of the unworthy. But in the hands of the noble, the just, they arced with flames of holy vengeance. For what fell from the sky and imbued the sword was Prism Fire, created in the great explosions of supernovae from across the galaxy.

With great blows of pure starlight, Shorak Kal began decimating the ranks of the Abyssal Shadow. Bolts of lightning raced down from the heavens, erupting in claps of holy retribution, leaving gaping holes in the army of the shadow. With the Goddess now behind them, the Army of the Golden Dawn rallied from the depths of defeat. Their blows were infused with divine fires, a touch of searing agony to all corrupt that felt the sting of steel blades. Invigorated by the blessing of Ilyss, the Army of the Golden Dawn forced the Abyssal Shadow and its armies back into the dark nether of the inner realms. As the last of the darkness vanished from the mortal realm a Golden Sun rose to shatter the cloak of darkness that had enveloped the land. For the first time in ages man felt the warmth of sunlight on his face.

But unbeknownst to most, it was not the end of the Abyssal Shadow. Such darkness cannot truly be destroyed by a single deity, simply weakened. Someday it would rise again, and once again mankind would have to fight to avoid extinction and enslavement to the shadow. An Order of guardians was created to protect the land from the inevitable return of the Abyssal Shadow. Numbering only one hundred, they alone watched the land; they alone knew the Abyssal Shadow would once again threaten the world.

It has been 15,000 years since the darkness ravaged the land. The peace that imbued the land is starting to splinter. The Shattered Realm has been rediscovered, known now as the Hoarfrost. Dark Wraiths again walk the earth. The great factions war one another for dominance, unaware of the slumbering darkness that will soon rise again. Knowing that with their small number they have no hope of defeated the darkness once and for all, the Guardians of the Prismatic Flame now open their ranks to all those seeking a greater purpose, those who will stand against the darkness, and who will become legends blazoned in prism fire. The land will soon know war once again; and this time one side will not survive to see a new dawn.

Note: This story will be have a link to it in the actual clan thread. It just seems kinda long of a back story to put in a clan thread, so I put it here.

Let the hype begin to grow ;)

  6. Not quite a clan thread, that'll be separate. This story was too long for a clan thread, so I made it separately here.

Useful for gathering potential members before actual creation too :D

  7. Bump for establishment.

  8. You could've put this in your recruitment thread rather than waste forum space making two separate threads...

  9. It would have taken up too much room on the actual clan thread. Why it's here.

  10. Oh, plus this was made in July - a month and a half before the clan was

  11. So where did the equipment the abyssal blade come from?

  12. Umm...what?

  13. So I listened to Ad Victoriam when I started reading this, but when the song ended, All By Myself started playing just as I started reading the part about the lone warrior. :p

  14. Yeah, it's badass isn't it?
