  1. Leveled Furn - Price Checks and Calculations

    Good Morning, Good afternoon and Good Evening Kaw-munity traders, today I am speaking directly to you and your needs as a trader. I know that one of the biggest problems(and source of arguments) as a trader is trying to price out leveled furn and finding an agreed upon way of pricing it accurately.

    Disclaimer

    If you aren't here to read/practice a bunch of math then don't ask a bunch of questions or complain, just skip to the end for the prices and use the proprietary tool.

    Bunny's Original Foundation

    One of the main people to lay the foundation and find a method that worked reliably at the time was the well-known trader, Bunny. I want to give him props for that too, he boldly took the first steps to finding an equation that works and figured out the variables needed, something no one else had fully gone through with up until that point. Through his own math based on the given market prices at the time of his research, he found that taking the dismantle price of a pet at 1/6th it's value and multiplying that by the number of dismantles needed(minus base) would approximately give you the cost of a lvl 20 pet at that time. He then used that recipe to find the cost per dismantle for the rest of the furniture items.

    This can be represented as: Price per dismantle = Base / (1/6)

    This can be simplified as: Price per dismantle = Base / 6

    (This simplification is important because it establishes that the 1/6th value can be expressed as just "6" in future explanations. That variable will be defined as "X", so X = 6)

    Price per dismantle = 2.5/6
    Price per dismantle = 416.67

    Next Bunny would take that answer and multiply it by the number of dismantles for the lvl of pet he was working with, lvl 20 would be 343(344-1 for base) and then at the end you add your base back in to get your final answer. This can be represented as(and referenced as the precursor to the main formula):

    Price of leveled furn = (Base Value) + (Dismantles needed * Price per dismantle)

    Price = 2.5 + (343 * 416.67)
    Price = 145.42 Bil in charms for a lvl 20 pet

    The Missing Link: Including Mats Cost

    This has more or less been the standard for traders to find the cost for leveled furn but there was always a catch... this pricing method didn't include the cost of mats, so that's where I come into this. I set out to find an equation that includes the cost of mats in the price in a way that's coherent with the rest of the formula and can be adapted to keep up with the ever changing status of the market.

    Well I'm proud to announce that I have found the missing link and defined every step of the original and new equation to be accessible, repeatable and adaptable to the crazy unrestricted market we operate in every day. In this post I will explain the entire equation, define all the variables, show some examples and then show the extra special tool I've been working on to pair with the new equation and make life just that much easier for you all.

    I think the easiest way to describe it is to just walk you through every step. We'll stick with the lvl 20 Pet and TL

    Finding the correct variables and order of operations to find the average cost of mats was a crucial step in this, that's what ends up becoming Variable Y. The other crucial step was correctly defining the "cost divider" variable and how to use it to adjust with 'real' market values, that's what ends up becoming variable X. These two variables were crucial to completing the formula that Bunny started.

    Key Variables to Understand

    P = final price
    D = dismantles needed - 1 (can't include base)(lvl 20 would be 344-1 = 343)
    M = total mats needed at your lvl( lvl 20 pet would be lvl 2-20 summed, 40,350 mats)(please refer to ceth's upgrade cost guide)
    Y = equation to find mats cost per dismantle
    Z = equation to find dismantles cost
    Base Value = The base value of whatever pet you're working with or the dismantle price of an item(you could have paid 10b for the base but we always use the dismantle price in the equation). Let's use 2.5b the minimum dismantle price as our “base” for today.

    X = the cost divider variable
    X will be the divider that best fits the current market rates, could be 1/6th the value, 1/2 the value, 1/3rd the value, doesn't matter as long as it gets you close to the market values. Bunny uses 1/6th the value for everything, I have found that 1/6 works on pets and 1/2 works on everything else in the current market. Feel free to play with it but we can simplify these fractions when plugged into the equation so that the numbers we use are 6 and 2.
    X = 6, X = 2

    R = Current market rate for mats
    R will be the market rate for mats, could be a rate anywhere from 1.2-1.7 so I've been using 1.5x as an example so we just take 1.5 as the number
    R = 1.5

    Example: Lvl 20 Pet

    Main Equation
    P = (Base Value) + (D * (Z + Y))
    We will always know the Base and the dismantles needed(D) so we need to solve for Z and Y

    Z Equation
    Z = base value / X
    (Z is also fairly predictable but for the sake of explanation I am writing it out)

    Y Equation
    Y = (((M / D) / X) * R)

    Now that we have all the equations we can start to plug variables in.

    Z = Base / X
    Z = 2.5b / 6
    Z = 416.67m

    Y = (((M / D) / X) * R)
    Y = (((40,350 / 343) / 6) * 1.5)
    ⠀⠀(>>>work left to right>>>)
    Y = 29.41m

    Now that you have Z and Y, you can plug them into your main equation

    P = (Base) + (D * (Z + Y))
    P = (2.5b) + (343 * (416.67 + 29.41))
    P = (2.5b) + (343 * 446.08)
    P = (2.5b) + (153,005.44))
    P = 155.5 Bil in Max Charms for a lvl 20 pet including the cost of mats

    If you run the same calculation with 3b, you get 184.59 Bil, giving you a price range of 155.5-182. 57Bil for a lvl 20 pet

    Deep Dive into the Y Equation

    Now, before we go any further I want to dive into the Y equation and explain why I chose that order of operation

    Y = (((M / D) / X) * R)
    Y = (((40,350/343) / 6) * 1.5)

    I think the biggest hurdle for the Y equation was finding the most accurate way to divide up the mats by their levels but if you look at the spreadsheet for materials needed per level, it really doesn't increase at even rates, making it even more difficult to create a reliable equation so I opted for the next best thing and divided it by the number of dismantles needed since that variable is also already at play in the original equation. That ended up being the best 'average' divider and the rest naturally made sense.

    Take your answer after dividing by the dismantles needed and divide by the unit cost divider to keep with the cost per dismantle, could be 6 or 2 depending on the item. After that you have to convert it to max charm rates so we then have to multiply to get the price in max charms, I used a rate of 1.5x as an example rate and that gets you your cost of mats per dismantle.

    That was probably what took the most work and time to get right, that was the big missing link to the equation to correctly price an item with the cost of mats included.

    Defining Variable X was also equally crucial since that had been the source of many arguments around the validity of Bunny's equation, but now that we have everything clearly defined, we can adapt this to any item and any market prices by adjusting the base price of an item, the lvl of the item, Variable X and the Rate of mats to charms. allowing for full adaptability and maintaining the mathematical validity of the equation.

    Example: Level 20 TL Item

    Let's run the equation with a lvl 20 TL item with Variable X set to 2 (1/2). I found that an average lvl 20 TL sells for 17.5-20 Bil

    Z = Base / X
    Z = 100m / 2
    Z = 50

    Y = (((M / D) / X) * R)
    Y = (21,345 / 343) / 2) * 1.5)
    Y = 46.67

    P = (Base) + (D * (Z + Y))
    P = (100) + (343 * (50 + 46.67))
    P = 33.26 Bil for a lvl 20 TL

    Here's the cost of that item without the cost of mats added in:
    17.25 Bil

    When you run the same calculation with variable X set to 6, we get - 11.73 BIl

    Which is what the old equation would have told you to sell the item for. So you can see how much of a difference it really makes with these smaller items and offers them at a value that they're actually worth for all the work and materials that go into upgrading it.

    I said earlier that 2 would work for other items but really it’s a range between 2-4 for most items, but that's more maths than I’m willing to do on paper for an example, but if you’re really interested please feel free to try writing out the equations yourself and working through the math.

  2. Introducing the Calculation Tool

    Now, I'm not gonna lie, that's a lot of work to be referencing back to the material cost guides and a lot of math to be doing regularly. You all would hate life very quickly, sooooo I made everyone's lives easier and decided to just create an app to do the calculations for us. Don't ask me about the specifics of this, I am not a coder just a creator so this was grueling work all around but I made use of good(& free) internet tools to make something beautiful that actually works properly and is conveniently easy and intuitive to use.

    Click link ^

    Cheers to everyone that gave input and help with the math and market prices, as well as those that helped encourage me to do this, thank you to all of you.

    Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns about the app, the math or current market values.

  3. I also have typed out lists of relevant prices based on the new core math:

    Dismantle Prices:
    Pet - 2.3-2.92B
    Throne - 650-700M
    Weapon - 350-450M
    Armor - 300-350M
    Chandi - 175-300M
    BL/Pillar/Dias - 110-120M
    TL/ML/PF/Rug - 95-110M
    Sides - 85-90M

    Lvl 20 Prices(Rounded whole numbers):
    Pet - 142-178B
    Throne - 89-94B
    Weapon - 71-86B
    Armor - 62-70B
    Chandi - 41-60B
    BL/Pillar/Dias - 27-28B
    TL/ML/PF/Rug - 17-18B
    Sides - 14-15B

    Here's the list of each item and its Variable X setting:
    Pet Variable X set to - 6
    Throne Variable X set to - 3
    Weapon Variable X set to - 2.3
    Armor Variable X set to - 2.25
    Chandi Variable X set to - 2.2
    BL/Pillar/Dias Variable X set to - 2.5
    TL/ML/PF/Rug Variable X set to - 3.5
    Sides Variable X set to - 3.8

    Here is the information about the cost per unit for each item using the given variable X:
    Pet - Cost per dismantle unit = 383.33M
    Throne - Cost per dismantle unit = 216.67M
    Weapon - Cost per dismantle unit = 175.00M
    Armor - Cost per dismantle unit = 150.00M
    Chandi - Cost per dismantle unit = 87.50M
