What a difference a couple of years make, and what's t

  1. So the title kind of gives it away but for those with the IQ of a squirrel I will fill in the blanks. Up until last week I'd been on a forced 25 month break from the game we love kingdoms at war, just before my kaw break I was bunkered down with friends at hog in osw against what at the time was the biggest and strongest alliance in kaw zaft and thankfully I returned to a naked account I'd have been disappointed if I didn't.

Now please don't mistake what I'm about to say as a dig at you guys left in zaft, just before I was forced offline zaft had an army of clans from zaft corp, destiny and rebels to name a few and had redstar, cella and many more dominating the ally leaderboard, what happened?
Not to mention the 3rd lands had just came out and I've returned to find more and more lands, epic battles and equipment which is cool but with the new lands and massive stats I've got a question here for devs what are you going to do in respect to new players?

The reason I ask this question now more than ever is simple and before all the ogs jump on me for saying this but how can development expect new players to stick around when achieving even the stats my lil ass has will take them a fair bit of time nevermind the huge cs of my clanmates like wythen,IMF and goddi.
I put this out to the kawmmunity to pitch in how you guys think devs can go to entice and retain new players?

*disclaimer* excuse my shockingly bad grammar and spelling I have pretty bad alpha dyslexia an it wasn't for spell check chances are your eyes would burn

  2. Now I know I'll have critics here but having set up an alt on my return to the game from my experience I think devs should increase the plunder spell for new players and possible slight increase in payout from tier1 to 3 epic battles. Now before ogs give me the "back in my day we only had dial up internet you kids n your new fangled wifi" speech it's not about you or me but it is about keeping the game we love alive and strong. New players at least up to the point of hlbc nowadays need to feel they have chance of catching the top guys around them or they will ask what's the point and quit

  3. Go read the community wishlist response. Devs reveal a lot of their plans there.

  4. dont feel bad. i came back to my account not availiable anymore. but its extremely easy to grow. taken me 3 weeks and 2 events to get to almost 20millcs.

  5. Didn't know about the thread you speak of been away 2 years plus the more discussion the better oh also congratulations on your 2000th post on my thread I feel so honoured

  6. These are my stats after 30 days :) I'm not overly active however I've spent money so I guess it evens out lol

  7. Growth now a days are easy for smalls, to help a good start would to stop volling every new account to 1bil. back in my day if you didn't ask for a volley you didn't get one, it would help more smalls keep allies an a be an easy fix verses looking to devs to fix a problem we compounding ourself been a while since a real new person even joined kaw an even longer for someone new to stay solely because all the cheap allies being vollied up an it be hard for smalls to keep allies for mp an after a while they lose interest some return but most dont

  8. Shs there's the problem 1)there isn't enough new players coming into the game an more important staying 2)with every new guy being vollied to extremes new player's struggle 3)granted they can attain llbc without breaking a sweat but hlbc takes more an few are going to put in real life cash to achieve this with the disparity between them an long-term players getting bigger and bigger. I suppose I'm wondering if ata may get off there ass an do what the like of ms you know the one Arnie voices have done an TV advertise cause ms player base is up over 200% since the ad campaign and IMO devs need to make hlbc not as pricey for new players that maybe ain't in a b2b hte clan to get but what do I know

  9. I agree with the volleying concerns, however hlbc is achievable in 2 weeks now. As well as the thread mentioned earlier was posted a week ago.

  10. You've come back after 25 months and you're an expert on all things ATA?

People have been crying since 2010 that the game is dying out, it hasn't.
It'll go on for a few years, there's always a constant influx of players quiting and players rejoining / discovering the game.

Compared to SMASH Monsters that was touted to be ATA's next big game, KaW has tenfold the actives.
SMASH has about 1,500 active per weekly event. So comparatively to some other games/ATA games KaW is doing rather good. It rakes in anywhere around 100K USD a month. (Check Sensor Tower for more stats)

The devs are communicating on the forums, life goes on. They're looking to update and change certain aspects of the game. How many game developers do you see talk to their player base about potential updates? Not many.

You don't have to be "BC" to enjoy the game, no matter what level you're at, there will always be other players playing on the same level. Doing the same actions with varying levels of activity.

You don't want to spend money? Cool.
    You want to? Go ahead.
It doesn't really matter, as long as you have fun.
There is no end game on MMROPGs like KaW. I think players tend to forget that.

  11. First off venom you read like you need a hug so here *hugs. Second where oh where did I say I was an expert on all things ata? Like seriously point it out to me... Oh wait you can't. My point is that the health of the game I left which seemed to be thriving and on an upward spiral to what I've came back to which is far from it. So yeah I believe it would be in atas an ours as player's for them to go on a TV ad splurge. But once again where did I say I was an expert?

  12. The problem with new players doesn't even start with Growth it technically starts with Kaw's 2 and 1/2 star rating.

And the problem isn't player ranking it low, it's the fact that the developers have been unable to maintain an app with a good rating. This is attributed to the endless about of Lands the developers have released and then mucking up pvp and ee while doing it.

Not only that, but it cost money to play competitively in this game. Rather you ee, OSW, or just hit ebs. It's all the same when it comes to cost of game.

So the constant pandering to the biggest accounts on top of them ignoring the mid grade accounts and doing very little for new players have killed KaW. And there really is no fixing the game.

  13. Yep rusty that's the kinda insight from a og I needed as I'd wondered where it went wrong on my break, thanks for pretty much filling in the blanks... But now I ask you a question what can devs do to change things?

  14. Hi guys,

One of the biggest problems with the game for new users is the look and feel. We find when new players join the look of the game feels really out dated and they bounce. We've always hesitated to change the UI because people get pretty upset and we mostly kept things as they were. But we're shaking things up and adding new features. And with each new feature we're improving the UI. So expect that to help.

There is definitely some balance issues with joining the game now and we want to accelerated some of the early players so they can be more useful in the game sooner. Similar to the way World of Warcraft was able to do this. One of the systems we are going to use for this is the build token system (releasing soon). But more on that later in the community wish list thread.

Despite some of the vitrol around new lands, we are definitely not just focusing on build complete folks.

  15. Hopefully you don't just plan on putting makeup on an old game and adding build tokens to correct your issues.

  16. I honestly don't know why everyone is whining about this game being p2p. It isn't. If you are dedicated to this game you can make great progress. Either way for me I play this game because I like the environment it has with players who stick around long enough. To me it's more about the friendships you make on kaw. And yes I know I will look like a hypocrite saying this from a p2p clan.

  17. I don't mind pay to play, I do mind the game and the game play when it comes to how pvp was before and how it is now.

  18. New players on kaw have never had it so easy. Free 25 lower lands , and event equipment and silver bars . it takes time to grow. You cant expect to get it all given to you for free. And if it was all free then it takes away the whole challenge of the game.

  19. I am arguing more for pvp than new players honestly.

But as a new player, hearing it takes years to bc or you'll never do it is a turn off.

But when I played becoming HLBC was a challenge but I could still war OFF system fairly quickly. And that was what hooked me. Pvp and war. (Not ee war. That was fun but it wasn't my favorite aspect of the game.)

  20. Sorry bear for hijacking your thread by the way.
