You get best equip from voting every 24 hours not for voting correctly

I just didn't have to buy it.

However I can't see any round 1 owls in my marketplace. I haven't voted, but on my event page "Round 1" it says I voted already ...

 

Says each player will receive a sapphire but I don't have one

 

I hope people vote for stuff other than hte and zta. Would be a shame to see this become another addition which becomes all about premium play.

Try closing your game completely, not just minimizing it. When you reload the items should push to your account.
