i have those things and i was a complete failure. thick skin helps, too. you can't go blowing your top every time there is drama. you'll end up in a constant state of noob rage. wait....do i not have those things?!? :shock:

Quite a few interesting thoughts that do hit the nail on the head imo. Activity, Patience and interacting, personal integrity, leadership, game experience, humor, diplomacy, the right clan members. Those were mentioned by Daphnia, Sholron, Wordwaster, Parsfan, Warlock and others and are all essential. I would drill it down to "presence". And I do agree with Warlock. Get the right people at the right places in your clan and it eases your task as owner enormously. PS: Loved explaining ally bonus plunder a few times a day while heading our academy a few years ago. I've owned and co-owned a few clans, to be brutally honest, it's time consuming and downright stressful, so hats off to all successful owners. Plus I get bored really easily, and like to start trouble when I want, not a good characteristic for a clan owner
You need a good support network in place as a clan owner, as you cannot be active 24/7 unless you're some sort of non giving up kaw guy. Successful clans all have 1 key element that those who collapse and fold don't have, constant activity and no real down time. If you're just run sing the same thing over and over again it's likely that members will get bored and leave for greener pastures, so it's safe to say that you need to think of more than just your immediate concerns, even if it means doing weaker ebs or not warring just so you can progress your clan as a group over maybe one or two people. Can't just focus on the high ends, gotta get those in the mid range of you clan (say your full) so meaning those between 20-70. Yeah it's a big gap but as long as they stay active consistently you'll have a very successful clans going.
That's why I loved Ambush so much when running the few I have - pays like a T4 but hits like a T1. We need more EBs like that, I always hated that I'd almost always shortchange somebody if I ran anything else.
seriously. i had "max plunder" boiled down to a "barrel of water" metaphor after awhile. that seemed the quickest and easiest way to do it. "the bigger the barrel, the more water you need to fill it. the bigger your build, the higher the total value of allies needed". 2-3 times a day on a good day. bad days were when someone just could. not. get it. to this day i cringe every time i see someone ask, "what is max plunder" or any variant of that.
