OSW Spectator - Let's use them extra miths!

Discussion in 'Ideas + Feature Requests' started by Eiwa, Jun 1, 2016.

  1. If there's a similar but much better developed idea, feel free to direct me to the relevant thread, as I didn't find any myself.

I know that OSW is by definition not the devs' concern, but I think that it would be quite entertaining to be able to watch what happens during these organized yet quickly turned into chaotic tap tap conflicts. And we need a way to use that extra mith, seriously.

All OSW participants would cast a spell similar to WoC and join the same clan (the horror!) and pick one out of two colors -or more! The limit is in the number of members, not that of alliances represented. Now, if they agree on letting people watch, they can buy a number of "spectator" roles and someone would have to buy a spectator spell BEFORE casting that WoC spell to be protected from the rest of the clan once they join. They can still get hit by other players outside of the clan (or maybe not unless someone buys another spell to hit them).

The WoC-like spell would be similar to Opt In in length but it would use mith, and here's the fun part: the spectator spell only lasts hours, so if a spectator forgets to renew their spell...!(Or if alliance members think they can join the clan but not commit to the fight...)

Other advantages to the OSW spell:
    1. everyone would be able to tell who is an osw runner/spectator if they leave the clan before their spells wear off.
    2. Forums would provide more screenshots of what's going on in the hottest osw. I can imagine a few forumers making a career of being spectator/reporters. 3.Annoying spectators or osw participants can get muted! I bet some of you dream of doing that.

Overall, I believe this would promote osw. I am an EB fairy but I believe that some of my wing-flapping peers would be convinced to join osw if they could see how exciting it could get. The rest of us would flock to forums to get the latest news.

Obviously spectators wouldn't get any training because both sides are in the same clan and can't share strategy (or can they?), but they'do learn the hard way if they let their spell expire xD

Support, do not support, point out flaws to the concept, hate, the usual.

  2. Doesn't this turn an OFF-system war into an SYSTEM war?

  3. Not like current system wars. There's no match up or even timer or winning side -no KO or SKO-, the devs just help create the spells and the spectator role.

  4. Okay. Let me see if I understand this.

Instead of a time it would be until the war concludes. OSW players would have a clan color for a name.

    All of this cost myth..

Okay, I'm going to tell you why this won't work, but first. It can be retooled for a fun off system competition, not an OSW.

    * (edit)
    Here is the flaws, mate.

    1st:
OSW is fare game on anyone who enters a clan. Having a spell that prevents visitors from being hit* will be used to complete EB's more than to report what's going on in the CC.

    2nd:
In OSW, clans will be preparing strips and tracking strips. That and they are coordinating ally movement, laundering, and buying so to move gold to the front line buyers to strip someone. They are also counting bars on a strip, watching their sleeper's allies, as well as a number of other things that they want No One to see.

Even when clans plant deceptions and lies into their cc to check for moles, they do not want obvious spectators from outside the clan to be in there.

    3rd.
Most of all that chat is actually done on a 3rd party app. Their are two that are popular that most all OSW clans use

    4th.
Myth is freakin expensive and so is OSW. Growth stunts and strips takes from the bank, we already spend gold and left over myth for strip boosts.

    5th.
It wouldn't be Off System on a System.

    Conclusion:
I like where your head is at though. We all have bad ideas and good ideas and don't let this bad idea get you down. I would suggest finding a friend or two, or many, who's played this game for awhile and bounce your idea off of them first, than if it all sounds gravy, post it. Just make sure the friend or acquaintance is someone that enjoys the aspect of the game that you are about to post an idea for.

    Keep the ideas flowing.

  5. Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I knew that the idea holds multiple flaws. But, as you say, gotta keep them flowing.

    1. As I said, the spectator spell would last only a few hours, and it would cost lots of mith as you said in 4.so I don't think one would abuse that spell.

Your 2nd and 3rd point are most definitely the reason why this idea wouldn't be implemented but it's a choice that a clan would have to make by creating the spectator role. That's what makes it not really a system war. Kind of because participants would be using war spells, buy no timing or so as I replied earlier.
Back to point 4. I know people with loads of unused mith. As only the spectator spell would cost a lot of mith, I don't think the expenses would be a deterrent to OS warriors.

Overall, you're right, not the best idea. Thanks again for taking the time to write this lengthy and elaborated reply.

  6. Any time. If you ever want to see an osw clans, some of these wars last years. New Age is going on our 3rd or 4th year now non-stop between two different wars. (I stopped counting)

So if you ever wonder what it's like. As one of the clans in OSW. Most of the OSW clans are still at war. They may teach or let you look. Just expect to get incoming when and after you leave.

  7. Maggot on point.

However, I love how entertaining this would be. But from a mod perspective, cc is a safe space. You can't bond knowing you have people watching. And that's what they have moles for.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  8. Good idea but if you want the feel of an osw, just get in one 

  9. Not really an OSW though. More like an Irregular System War.

It would be neat to see though.. Could prove to be interesting.

  10. It could be very interesting, but could prove to be unruly when a spectator becomes a mole and tells the other side about a strip about to happen.

  11.
  12. What more LAME than tap tap your phone thinking your hurting someone?

Watching others tap their phones LMFAO

  13. Yes lol

  14. Realy this is what a joke kaw has become , I did about 5-6 ee wars and ranked 255th in medallions which tells me maybe 500 people partisapate in this war games war system.

I guessing half of that are alts , so what 1% of people that play kaw even bother to war. The prize in war is mith , have over 2000 but nothing to spend it on. So what we're just too lazy now to even try to war we will just watch other people?

Dev figured out they have to fix nothing , just offer some useless trinket and you mindless sheep will fill their pockets $$$$
