Not sure about furoms but I know someone that was silenced in game for banter. No profanity or real life threats, but was told it was bullying.
I was forum banned for a week for mentioning that a certain player, who's name I won't mention. Onesy. Enjoys Grindr more than kaw.
Sometimes the Devs are just super Devvy and can't make the reich choices, and then more often than not, they end up overreacting..

What if I tracked and stripped the player in the 1v1 and got my clan involved. I'm sure you guys wouldn't be very happy about that. "We can do it, but you can't." (Had a couple paragraphs of text but accidentally pressed undo and it deleted everything)
To answer OP's question and having been here a bit over 5 years I think that the tone of Forums changed. It has become more acrid and bitter - people take this way too seriously and get into personal attacks way too easily and with a gusto for nasty retorts that was not there before - at least not with this frequency. Forum posts like Phil's had banter on it and we often skirted around insults but we're generally careful about notgoing there. I don't think that's the case any longer. There are way too many people who seem to get a kick from crossing the line on forums. And too many of those are statless alts.

Threads being censored and deleted is absolute garbage - I remember Philo's threads getting nasty - the Monster garage civil war and the insults there - remember the Wendyms thread? Or some threads by Allison (super fun to read) the hatred between combatants has always been there. The threads have always been mean - Kaw is just weaker now. Now Jackson - as far as apoc has changed into Zaft - LOL - we haven't changed - we have always been this way - there are numerous numerous threads from 4 plus years ago that we are jerks/bullies/ etc - good reads they all were. I think in zaft one, or maybe even the res war - I first posted "don't like us- stop us" That was many many many moons ago We haven't changed - Kaw has simply become weak willed and over sensitive. I think it shows when your online or not. So that people could stalk us. Not that i have a issue with being stalked or stalking people.
