It's becoming a joke, as well as an abuse of power.

  1. It is neither up to you or the mods to tell someone what is or is not a low effort thread. Sometimes one line is suffice. We don't need a block of writing full of 'detail' for it to be a good thread. Sometimes the OP doesn't know how to make it a substantial idea so they leave it to one line or two for the community to put their input. Quality not quantity. This is exactly the problem - a few players/mods/whatever deciding on their opinions what is/is not an effortful thread. It can't really be judged because what is effortful for me may not be for you. This should never have been brought to forums. Stick to ToU.

  2. Lmao @ mods talking about silencing this thread too, must be a good past time activity for them.. and Eagle, you read out yourself the guidelines to locking a thread, why don't you and the other mods always follow them? Hahaha

  3. But on another note, appreciate the KaW mods. They are much better than the ones on pimd.

  4. Of course.
Like I said, this is a discussion about forum behaviour, not an attack on their moderation of KaW.

  5. @ Mods, I think what we're all saying here, is cut out opinion, and stick strictly to TOU. Half the threads you lock aren't harming anyone, so why lock it?

  6. I thank you for your opinion, but with the follow up locks, we are actually are told to Make sure that forums stay active and clean, so with the low effort threads, we review the case, we talk to each other on what's everyone else's opinion is, we make a final decision, we are happy with it, but most of the time, if we don't understand, we will email into support and get their views on this.

We mostly maintain to keep forums clean from spam and violations, we try to maintain forums the best we can, once a small thread has been answered at its best we will lock it knowing that the thread ran its course.

Another issue we have is players, post counting, which is in fact spam which is defiantly not allowed, BUT! If it is on guide threads we allow it so OP can edit and add more details to their threads.

80% of the time we ask for support on what's the best decision for forums or in game.

So just remember, to keep it at minimum within this thread, have any questions or concerns please contact one of us or support to answer the questions you may have.

Will now be lurking this thread.

    Peace.

  7. Stick to opinion, if they don't forums will be cluttered with terrible threads and then people like you will complain about forums being terrible.

  8. It isn't about ToU. It's about having the people start off on a good foot. You can not pretend that you give low effort threads just as much thought as a high effort one.

When we say low effort - high effort we do not mean bb codes or pictures ot titles ot any of the superfluous stuff.

All we mean is that it's a thought out mention, something worth an answer. I don't understand why you would back up quantity over quality.

  9. I would far rather a two line OP that gets a discussion going than a massive picture thread with abysmal attempts at humour. All that rubbish is clearly spam but is allowed to remain.

The whole 'derailing' thing is a bit of a nonsence too. If i call a friend to ask if they are up for some beers, then after a couple of minutes they ask if i have seen Star Wars, i dont scream 'YOU'VE DERAILED MY PHONE CALL' and hang up on them. Some conversations naturally flow into other areas.

The worst locking i saw was the thread that was discussing homosexuality and christianity. A christian homophobic moderator clearly couldnt cope with having their sensibilities burned and made a moral judgement well above their station.

Saying all that, modding this game must be a huge undertaking so congratulations are in order really. For every erroneous silence/locking, there are many many more made for the good of the game.

  10. I do very much so care about "community enjoyment" btw. Most of the time, when I see a low effort thread that people seem to enjoy - I let pass.

However, when there isn't really any good discussion generated and its almost in the realm of post count farming, that's a different story. That's when it's time to lock and let other threads move up the board. Just my action plan tho.

  11. Eagle the point people are getting at is that locking active threads, is not promoting activity. We are not doubting you or Support's ability, however the idea of locking active threads that aren't harming anyone is counterproductive to producing activity.

  12. So then give a decent reason.
Not: 'it's spammy and cold be on wc /lock'

If you are going to make a grey area lock, explain why you did it properly.

  13. Why lock certain threads? Sometimes when a thread either dies, or where it just becomes spam related, we will most likely just lock with a reason, but if it's for like wc ads, small questions that is easily answered, or if it is advertising certain things, then we would have a full reason, and we have to make sure forums isn't being cluttered up with spam.

Now, once again, I get people are not happy with this, and with this support will be reviewing this thread, if possible with kaw com or admin to post their reply, don't get your hopes up, so we can have a better explanation for you all, I will be personally emailing to get this thread reviewed and a possible answer to answer everyone's questions on why we lock certain threads.

    Thanks guys!

  14. Thank you, Eagle.

  15. But is there really a problem with activity? I don't see it.

Forum is not wc. What was active 5 mins ago should not be lost in the spam of ads. Forums is a total dog eat dog survival of the fittest. The best threads stay active the longest. While others run their natural course. Sometimes with help.

  16. Quality not quantity. I'm simply saying that quantity does not equal effort.

My point is that we all consider effort to be different things. There was a point in forums where anything with one line was almost locked straight away. Sometimes they had the potential to be a good thread but the precedent of one line = lock won. Give a chance for community discussion. Lock only when it becomes a break of ToU.

An idea doesn't have to be a well thought out one with specific details. Sometimes an idea can just be that, an idea. An idea for the community to expand and add detail to. A few lines can be just fine sometimes. :)

  17. I think Delphin was half agreeing with the idea of letting threads run their course but I'm still confused. 

  18. If it's generating community discussion (that isn't spammy, bypassing, count farming, trolling etc) then the players probably don't consider it to be 'low effort'. But gotta give threads a chance to get to that point before immediately locking for a lack of effort.

  19. The moderators must keep the quality of the forum at a good standard. For example. 'Rate the player above you' thread.

A good read. Informative, fascinating, ridiculous post count farming thread. Should be stickied really.

Learn from threads like that one because they never get locked.
