Who are you to tell someone if they can breed or not? It's easier to end welfare, whether on the coroportate level or for the individual. Overpopulation is a direct result of industrialization and our urge to take care of one another through walfare. The current birth rate in the US is already at 1.8. If this trend continues without immigration that leads to a natural population reduction. The corporations need to keep the population growing to support the consumer based economy. When we allow people to immigrate and pay for them to have children this adds to the claimed overpopulation issue.
The other option is total communism with totalitarian rule. 1 child policies, speech control, gun control, pretty much all the things Americans find repulsive. The free market can fix just about anything when you eliminate welfare. All forms of it.
Entitlement. If people felt less entitled and took responsibility for them selves then we would have a lot less issues.
So those who are currently on welfare should be what? A tad short sighted. And extreme with opinions there. But lets go more extreme. The world according to one US study showed can only have 10% of the current population at today's level of technology without damaging the earth in any measurable way. So yes we are far too overpopulated But if your going to say cut welfare it solves the issue. Say what you mean. You want them all dead as would happen without their welfare in towns with 75% plus unemployment due to collapse of local steel mills etc. when the workers are used up, their children not smart enough just kill them right ? And you ask "who are you to say who can have how many children". When what you are really saying is kill the rabbits. Let them starve or just put a bullet in them. Seems a little harsh. But the other solution is to?? Guess that's why no one has solved that yet.
Also re limiting benefits affects. That policy fails miserably in third world nations. It does nothing to stop people having multiple children. They have more to try and have one survive. Better education is needed. Better job creation is needed. Better living at every level creating a more stable environment slows overpopulation. And so on. But when one person has all the answers. I'll vote for them as world president.
It's not short sighted. It's long term. Obviously you can't end all entitlements tomorrow. Third world countries are supported by who? It's nation to nation welfare. The war to poverty is global. Right? Our corporations who are supported by corporate welfare invest in third world nations. This provides conditions suitable for population explosions as they grow through industrialization. This is long term philosophy.
What Walfare? Is that a special fee you pay in the Walmart shopping center? Problem is not people being too many but rather people indulging in too many luxuries. 120 years ago ppl ate red meat less than once a week. Now Americans eat it everyday. Any idea how damaging cattle raising is to the Environment?

You can't end the majority of welfare without writing off millions of humans worldwide. How do you provide jobs and medical aid for all who are currently affected? It's a solid ideal. But within the lifetime of any recipient it's not possible. And in the future unless you can maintain job security for 100% of the population welfare will always be needed. Unless you can assure perfect health, no accidents. Welfare will be needed. Market collapses. Firms going bust. Welfare will be needed. It may need to be streamlined. Limits imposed ( for example only two children per household from this year onwards for all new children counted for welfare ) But it is a necessary evil. That will always be needed. We need job centres that don't just sign you off but link you with a job you can do. That conscript people to jobs from manufacturing or essential services. A work for benefit program that gives references and hours of employment based on minimum wage. So all physically and mentally able are able to achieve a meaningful outcome with hope of moving on to a better job. Those with degrees put to use teaching or medically. There are many options that could be used. Many support groups added. Mums supporting mums running daycare centres, while other mums work. People caring for those unable to care for themselves. Carers cost a fortune. And yet so many people could be working to support families. So many people could be better trained. And instead the system writes them off, takes away money when they are sent back to work rather than supporting those who seek it. And forcing people to maintain a less than desirable lifestyle. So yes welfare is needed. It needs to be restructured ( not like Cameron wants. He is an imbecile ). But change is needed to support the people. And education is key. Free education available to all. Teach people to solve problems and manage their own lives. That's the long term goal that more need.
I refer to developing nations. The free market has no conscience at all when laws do not apply globally.
Those bail outs were welfare. I'm not being picky about what is and what isn't acceptable welfare. All welfare need eliminated.
Every time someone does something stupid they should get a brainfreeze for 1 minute. This would cure stupidity.
