Hi I felt like making this thread so here it goes I had to get a new iPhone case today because my Otterbox of 1 1/2 years broke. I decided to try life proof so when the iPhone 7 comes out I know which case to buy! A lot of people don't know if they should buy themselves an Otterbox case or Lifeproof case. I have experience with both so take my advice. Otterbox- Pros: Fits very well in my hand, audio output is great, VERY protective, easy to push the buttons Cons: not waterproof Lifeproof- Pros- Waterproof, semi-protective Cons: Feels very bad in hand, audio output is not great, you need a hammer to push a button, pictures can be blurry because of the camera covering, hard to clean because it takes a jackhammer to get the case off, harder to type, hard to get earphone cover off, hard to get charger cover off. P.s. The life proof case instructions are not so clear, let's just say my life proof case no longer makes my phone waterproof
Otterbox. Even if they aren't waterproof, they feel nice, and they are damn hard to break. If I plan on tap dancing around a pond while videoing, I'll get a Lifeproof.
Lifeproof trash is cool if you want have waterproof and if wear it out it defeats the purpose. Otter box is where it's at. sturdy and reliably and it can help with a little water and if it plastic breaks or something you can take a picture of it and they will send a free new one
Otterbox is great for like everyday things that you do but I only find a use for Lifeproof if you swim in the pool or beach a lot otherwise I'll stick with the Otterbox. ~Chaos
If using Droid products the life proof is better. I have a device with each. The sounds better on lifeproof, the pictures easier. The waterproof is great for south Florida rain. And it's more protective. (I love the fact that with this case I can throw the phone at people without damage. I did once cause noticing bruising to a friend though)
I have a speck case and I've been really happy with it. They're not bulky they're fairly cheap and I've thrown my phone approximately 7.2 times and it hasn't broken. You also need a protective glass that's nice so if it does crack you can just take the screen off and your actual screen will be fine. They also look really nice.
Life proof is better than otter box. Like you stated it is a little hard to hear but I'd buy another life proof case before otter box. The other downfall for life proof is you have to have apple chargers. Life proof cases are easy to put on you don't need instructions.
I've had my 5s now for two years, time to upgrade. No case ever on the 5s and it's still perfect. May try a waterproof case when I upgrade to a 6s Plus or whatever that should be coming out. Thinking of trying the Catalyst case.
Life proof is the way to go. The life proof charging case(iPhone 6) I am using now is very sturdy, and provides lots of extra batter life. About the same size as an otter box too. You'll have a tough time trying to kill this case if you put it together correctly. Definitely the way to go.
I just cracked my iPhone T.T Debating whether to buy a case to prevent my iPhone from getting further cracked or spend a whopping $300 at an Apple Genius Bar to basically get the whole phone replaced for repairing the touchscreen.
Fixing a broken lcd/digitizer assembly is easy. And much much cheaper if you do it on your own. But, you do run some risks. If you feel like you can handle it you should do it yourself. If not, take it to a professional. But not the Apple Genius bar.
