The problem with Kaw

  1. Let me first say please excuse punctuation and grammar as I'm trying to type this on phone. I think the main problem on kaw recently has been a lot of negativity towards ATA with recent game developments. I have been playing kaw for over 4 years now and view this like a marriage. There is some great days and bad days but in order to have a successful marriage you need communication. ATA is a victim of its own success. They came out with a great game(kaw) and then after a while began looking towards its next successor in stead of really promoting that which gave them their start. This is not uncommon, it happens with almost any successful venture you forget what got you there and start looking for the next big thing.

Recently, I believe they have realized this and are trying hard to get back to their roots by coming out with several new things to help promote game growth. However, here in lies the biggest flaw in kaw promoting that New Growth. In order to achieve continued success they need new players which is the biggest issue.

In the past few weeks I have bought 20 new players via the new player announcement in wc( which is great btw). I volleyed those new players to 50 billion and to be honest even this was quite difficult. Even though there were new player announcements I found it hard to get help volleying these new players. In several cases I used the aid of my clan to do so. Out of the 20 volleyed 5 still are very active(assuming alts) 6 are semi-active and 9 quit within a week.

Of the 9 that quit I asked them all why and the overwhelming response was they didn't know what to do. I directed them to threads but to be honest they hard to understand for new players because they don't know what they are trying to become or how to get there. There aren't threads that say here are your build options, what the pros and cons are to each and how to achieve them.

Most of us love or like this or we wouldn't still be here reading this or playing.

My solution: First and foremost we need more communication between ATA and players. Second there needs to be less complaining and slamming of ATA and more solutions.

Lastly. We need a community effort to promote new players.

I believe the best way to promote new players is a dedicated forum link for New Players helping them figure out what to be and how to achieve it. Next we should have new player clans that are solely dedicated to new players. These clans should be owned by kaw community for new players only and the admins should be Valiant Knights or mods or others dedicated to helping new player growth.

In these new clans players will be aided by experience and build advice. These new clans should be allowed a free HTE every 4 hours or few EB's to help promote growth and interest in the game. The admins of the clan are allowed to get the free HTE as a service for their aid. I know as most think this would turn into abuse somehow to volley gold. I think there should be a time limit like 2 months and minimum cs to be in clan. Once either of the 2 parameters have been met you are kicked from clan.

Once removed clan you have ability to form your own clan free of 30 bill fee or join another.

I think this would help promote unity between new players and the people in starter clans to help continue playing the game past a week or two.

In order for any business to succeed it requires a new flow of customers and return of your existing clients to be successful. To that end for those that love the game like I do. We should not forget to help perpetuate that which we began at one point. There is a lot more to this game then when we started and to keep it going we need to educate those that want to play. This starts by giving advice or a volley or a helping hand to make our game better.

    Thx

  2. I would like to see the Devs invest more in us. On their newest game smash rewards are given out every 8 hours. I would like to see more of this implement into KaW. We are investing in them by buying seals and etc. now I'd like to see Devs put more money towards some stuff for us. Doesn't have to be free seals or anything premium but something would be nice in return

  3. The problem is devs probably won't make the clans you came up with because why give free hte to anyone? Rather, like you said, we as a community need to create and run these clans. The only issue is that many of these new player clans run for a week and then start failing warbeasts and things like that. We need experienced, dedicated and caring players to run these clans.
Let's stand together and help the game!

  4. Midget agree with a lot of what you said, I've been playing four years and still don't know what the hell IM doing

I never understood why they aren't dev released war guides with definitions and explanations of things?

Why aren't there dev released building guides with the stat levels for each building ?

It just doesn't make sense to me considering how much time and effort and money we have to put in to understand war and how much time and effort we put in to save for land and buildings

IMO devs take this for granted . They seem to think we can war or play this game casually like any other iPhone app, but you can't .You have to plan for war and plan your build etc

Idk why there even needs to be a thread about this ... Why hasn't someone at ATA said hey you know maybe we should have this in the game

    I don't get it

  5. Good points Ml. Sounds similar to the EVE Online system. The HTE idea could help keep mid experienced helping players there.

One problem is unlike other games there is no tutorial. You just show up, do a quest, and roll out.

Another issue is the lack of actual graphics with movement. Kids and teenie boppers don't want to play a game where nothing happens and all you care about are numbers for which nobody knows the exact result. For example in other games you add a module = certain damage.

Here spy buildings add 87 spy stat. What does that mean to actual spy combined stats? Someone had to write a spreadsheet showing those numbers.

Overall the community aspect keeps players, but it's hard to break into the community.

  6. Support communication is a great idea. A suggestion is just the debs just pop in say hey and what not and say hope yall are enjoying your time playing the game we have created for you instead of the normal button press rate our game message. And the major reason why they won't do the thing you are suggested is because they care to much of money from the lb. but it's important to get new players some times if you have to sacrifice for the long run.

  7. Good thread.

On the first events we had over 50.000 accounts active, now maybe a little over 15.000. And of those only a small part reached the higher tier rewards. Most had no chance to get there as drops are related to build and size of players.

Promo is a shortcut for promotion. Unfortunately devs don't know what promotion means. All their promos look like sellouts instead.

Many have quit recently, mainly because of wrong decisions taken by ATA. So many quit that I stopped buying active players long ago as they reset far to often. I prefer inactive pro pack allies meanwhile.

New players hardly get volleyed anymore. You need to click 10 times before you actually buy someone and this is a waste of time. New players often end with a hire value below one million meanwhile.

When new players enter this game, they don't know what to do. The poor tutorial does not help at all, the forum is also not realy helpfull as it is to difficult for new players to find basic information there, that is still up to date.

Players have made so many suggestions (also a lot of obviously stupid ones, but those are easy to detect) how to save kaw from dying, but the devs always show up with something completele different.

The game needs new EB, but not such as this Tabaluga of the Lowlands stuff. We need new EB to replace the low Tier EB. Most of those are just bad. Early trial and error stuff, not realy good for new players to grow and enjoy the game.

  8. I agree 100%. When I first started playing a year ago, someone said go to forums and you could find out all you need to know how to play.

I had a great deal of difficulty wondering through forums trying to find explanations of what I should do next. I understood that I should build something but was not sure what and if I did build something what the outcome would be.

There are a few good topics in forums to help the beginner but they are hard-to-find and it would be very helpful if they were all located in one spot.

I finally joined up with a clan who had someone that pointed me in the direction of an outside of the app tutorial. It was very helpful in explaining builds and how to achieve them at the beginning.

I struggled trying to understand indi wars versus season wars as there was no clear explanation found anywhere. Nor is there any where a good explanation of the difference between random advantage or classic wars. Also there's no explanation of common terminology used during wars for the beginner to understand.

I must admit this is the first app or online game than I have ever played that does not have some form of help system from the developers that can explain terms and how to play.

I have friends and relatives who tried to start playing this game that felt it was too difficult to understand or did not want to take the time to try to find out how to play.

  9. Great points, Midget-Lover. One thing that really needs to be done when it comes to getting new players to KaW, is an updated tutorial. It's really hard to find information about the game and what to do for new players. I'm sure I wouldn't have played the game today if a real life friend hasn't helped me with understanding the game. And as Midget-Lover showed here, that's the reason to why new players choose to quit KaW. 45% of the players stopped playing KaW becuase they didn't know what to do.

Fast growth for new players would also help players to stay. I also think that the big gap between players are keeping many new players away from continue playing. The lower tier epic battle should give more gold, and drop more equipments. As of now, there are only 4 equipments for the four lowest tier epic battles. I've seen a lot of forum posts that come with good suggestions as to what that could be done to increase growth, so it's no point to repeat that again.

All the negativity against the game and the developers (where they for example say that this is KaW's end and other things) may also keep some players from playing. You don't feel like you want to play the game when you see all that.

  10. Great thread Midget and I support your ideas with one exception:

I think the concept of new players requiring a volley is trash. If it's known that you need a certain amount of gold to start the game and be successful, why not just start with that amount of gold... I know people will cry abuse, but the amount of gold it takes to becomes lowland complete is so minor in today's game that if you really want to waste the time to abuse that, feel free.

I applaud what you're doing Midget and hope more (all) get behind your cause.

  11. Support Mid.

If they really want to "prevent" gold abuse then just give them some build tokens so they can build up LL or there about and then there's no gold involved.

  12. Support all the way

  13. I agree with everything here it would help so much, also why not promote the game more? Like I never see anything that leads us to install kaw

  14. I have seen hundreds of solutions most are crap few are good but ata doesnt listen you wonder why people say they suck.

  15. Support !!

  16. Very well written thread. Couple of ideas I'd like to add.

I think giving new players money or build tokens to become LLBC would be a good start. LL stats are insignificant to later lands and giving them these stats from the start means they'll be able to take part in indi wars and hit bigger ebs straight from the start which are the types of things that keep you interested in kaw.

Also once a week maybe hold indi wars especially for new players where they war but some experienced players are allowed into the way clans, not to war but to give advice on how to war and WC the war etc.
