America's Decline

  1. XD Nailed it.

  2. 23% out of my pay, an extra 10% standard tax towards everything plus 3% food tax. Our bills are extremely high too. The cost of living is expensive. Calibrating in family vacations, travel, etc..

  3. ~43% out of pay. 21% vat (6% for food etc.) cry me a river

  4. Corporations run the world. They exist to make a select few wealthy and pay the rest enough to keep them interested in keeping the cycle going

  5. Economics aside cuz each nation has differing ways in governing.
Quality of life n cost of living r more down to earth topics for an average citizen.
    Ask this:
Is my family n I able to get good schooling n medical care?
Can we get an affordable mortgage relative to what my wages r n where i live for work?
Basic Q's i guide myself by amongst others but u get the gist.

    Some things to ponder:
Eg Canada n USA differences i know of.
Gas is cheaper in the US
Cigs n Booze cheaper in the US
    Medicare in Canada is universal.
Prescription r much cheaper in Canada.
Taxes r relatively similar but the US is less.
Just a few things i know of.

Gas in the UK n Europe much more costly.
In my home province if u r willing to go where good money is made u can do very well. Yes Canada has winter n not like the US but some ppl i know here want what they prefer n not what they need to do. Others do whats needed n can live a very good life. I'm a tweener btw.

Life is a business n we all take ownership n choose what we will n live with our choices. We r control of most of what we can or will do. Many ppl r not so fortunate n I for one never look down upon them.

  6. My point, there are droves of ppl crossing the boarder daily, willing to work, supporting their family here and their extended families there.

So there are jobs but not necessarily white collar jobs. Everyone likes to say teachers they don't get paid enough, well they work 181days out of the year. Oddly most ppl in the U.S. Work for some form of government ie police, fireman, postman, toll work, train, by the way all union jobs.

There's to things in life, play it safe and work for the man or start your own business. By the way, owning your own business gives you write offs ie dinner bill is $100 buck well write it off, really $50 out of your pocket. Again loop holes, again I get it.

I would recommend inventing internet related business plenty of money there...before industry blows up again. FIT is thinking of doing IPO talk is 3 Billion, I'm sure ATA wishes they thought of that.

Opportunity is here, no gives you anything on a silver platter.

  7. The only reason I'm bothered is because America chooses to invest it's taxes poorly. I love America-the land of opportunity. Billions of dollars lost to child earned tax credits to immigrants who are not working offends me. It wouldn't bother me paying high taxes if people who make more than me paid high taxes too or if the government invested our tax money more efficiently. The whole argument is about 1% of the population paying minimal taxes.

  8. America isn't a democracy it's a country

  9. Corporation is the new religion and union is it's lay group, American government is a corporation itself which makes it a sovereign entity that exists solely for the purpose of creating profit for it's share holders.

  10. ^^^

  11. Upperclass complaining about taxes? Give me a break 

  12. Ah wealthy Canadian come here aka US when they're sick. Oh BTW in socialist medicine sometime you don't qualify for that lifesaving procedure. It's true....look it up.

Be careful for what ya wish for, you might just get it.

  13. America is now a socialist democracy, consider how our lives are closely tied to the government.

  14. VMA that's not true in most circumstances...

The only circumstances that a Canadian goes to USA for medical care is because that Canadian is probably wealthy and because USA hospitals will service people with lots of money faster than those without. Poor Americans will also avoid going to hospitals when sick/injured in fear that they'll get stuck with a pricey medical bill... Resulting in less waiting time for Canadians who go there.

Canadian hospitals are superior to American ones because in Canada, the government wants it to be as efficient as possible to minimize the tax burden while still offering great service. The result is technological advances that makes Canadian health care one of the best in the world.

The Canadian health care system is not perfect... There are waiting times... But almost all Canadians agree that health care should be a right of all citizens. The system is always being improved upon, but when there's a shortage of doctors there's not much you can do.

  15. Your post doesn't make sense. You don't understand what socialism is. Socialism is an economic ideology in which people share their resources for the good of all.

As I said earlier in the thread, income inequality in USA is at its highest ever in the last century. That's FAR from socialism.

As far as democracy goes... I'd say that the voting system is democratic on paper, but not in practice. Right now the USA is facing the same problem as the USSR faced, which is widespread corruption.

As far as government playing a big role in people's lives... It does. America's government is pretty sneaky... It spies on its own citizens, has 2 million of its own people in jail, and has invaded various countries and installed fascism (ie Brazil in 80's). This is, of course, a bad form of government playing a role in people's lives. But there are good ways.

A good way that it helps people is through police, medical care (not in USA), firefighters, research, infrastructure development, protection of its people, education, enforcing human rights, regulating dangerous/hurtful business practices, and providing a way to bring a nation's people together to determine how one's life can or should be lived.

Your post makes you seem libertarian... But realize that there is a difference between the government using taxes for good, and government using taxes for bad. Also realize that corporation can be far worse than any government, and governments are a good tool for regulating them.

  16. As for the earlier post VMA...

Once again, you need money to start a business. Nobody in the USA has much money except for the top few. You have to work hard to make money, but you also need money to make money.

Small businesses are the primary employers in America, and trickle down economics is closing them all down. Small businesses make for good competition. They create and innovate. Good small businesses will grow. Bad businesses fail and get replaced by new businesses. Employees of the bad businesses have to find a new job.

But people aren't going to open a small business if they have no money.... That's the thing. Where's that employee going to work?

  17. They take a loan out. Thats how its always worked.
