Apologies in advance. I realize this is a very minor aspect of the game and that many people will likely mock me. Oh well. As a quasi-OCD gamer, part of my satisfaction comes from collecting the various in-game badges offered, lately from the (ever more frequent) events. KAW apes must have Koko the Gorilla back at the shop coming up with the various artwork which is generally pretty good. (Compare the multiple styles and coloring of the current event equipment vs. the copy & paste purple job of the S2 equipment.) This development is evident in the various badges too. The badge available for this (ironically named) farmer event features a well formed off-white skull with black eye patch over a transitioning purple to burgundy background, and frankly is visually appealing. (I am considering framing a screen-print of the badge and hanging above my fireplace.) However, once a top tier is attained, the badge is splashed with the same golden hue, losing its aesthetic qualities. While this change does distinguish the badge from the mere 'commoner' one, I think there may be other ways to highlight the achievement without a reminder of the real-life gold spent to gain said digital treasure. I would direct the devs attention to the Resurrection badge which features flames coming outside the shield frame. Future top tier badges could include something like this with a flame background or garland type base added to the original badge. The flames / garland / whatever could also be colored bronze / silver / gold depending on tier as further stratification. This would also retain the core spirit of the badge without making them look like other badges - if this trend continues, half of the highly active and LBs' badges will look the same a year from now. Just a trifling recommendation from a wizardly connoisseur.
I actually do like this idea. Although the gold does make the badges seem like they're "worth more," something like this could add a little diversity. Support
Gold is meant to symbolise rarity, which is why when you get top 10 you get a gold version of them equipment. But I do agree where gold looks crap compared to use of colour, me? I like to be wearing a dark evil. Suit of armour with a dark aqua emitting from the armour.
Support. Very interesting idea, and it auctually makes sense! The idea of adding onto the badge instead of making it golden is a fantastic idea.
More designing may draw attention away from more important areas. I am aware the creative team is different to the development team however how many people constantly look at their badges. I personally would rather see more well designed ebs and equipment than badges. A new UI would be a welcome thing in the game.
