New Player Equips - An Idea

  1. Hello forums,

If you remember the now irrelevant KaW roadmap, you'll also remember that the Devs outlined a plan for new player equips. After thinking it over, I've come up with what I believe to be a suitable solution to this.

    FIRSTLY - The Equip

The first thing that came to mind was the stats. They should be able to give the newer players the ability to hit Epic Battles in the T4-T5 brackets with minimal pot usage. However, they should also be under the stats of the more powerful, higher end equips from T6 and above.

For the stats, I looked to the currently existing equip. Hooves of Destruction and Hystricidae Helm - both fairly useless once you breach around 150k CS (a day or two's work), as they only give a noticeable boost towards very small players. Instead, the infamous Leonine Armplate and Diamondiferous came to mind. NML is classed as a smaller player's EB - it's never run except for unlock purposes in larger clans, as the bigger armplate drops far outdo it, but smaller clans run it often as it gives them a chance to get a powerful piece of equipment. It's total stats reside at 6mil - great for a noob, but unable to compete with the Aureate Bracers and Sunflare Bracers. Diamondiferous is less of a small players equip, but it's an indicator of what the boundary of the stats of these new equips should be. 7.6mil - similar to the Leonine Armplate.

6-7mil in total seems acceptable - a total loadout of it would give 72-84mil total in stats. For arguments sake, I'll say it's balanced equip - that's only 18-21mil per attack, def, spy attk and spy def. Detrimental to smaller players, but only just breaking through the lower levels of high tier equip.

    SECONDLY - The Epic Battles

This was a fairly easy decision for me. The T1-T3 EBs are fairly dry when it comes to equip drops. They're meagre in comparison to T6 . T1 is the most neglected tier, despite the messages at the end of T1 EBs constantly hinting at a large horde of treasure.

To The Chamber and The Depraved - higher end of the T1 EBs make these deserving of a drop of some kind, aside from the vague chance of a horn. It's meant to be a gateway to a horde of treasure, after all.

The Despair - everyone's least favourite EB. Awful plunder and regen. At least people would run it, albeit begrudgingly, if equipment dropped from it.

Foreign Territories and Battle Royale - I rarely see these running, aside from when a clan is unlocking Origins. FT in particular is a horrible EB with an even worse payout. Battle Royale was simply long and difficult enough to warrant some form of drop.

    LASTLY - Enchanting

Probably going to be the most disagreed with section of this post, but oh well.

First of all, bring back Psion. Permanently. Make it drop from The Depraved, The Reckoning, Origins, The Destroyer, on a moderately rare basis. Also give it as an event reward, like Aqua/Inferno.

Now, allow players access to the Mage with a level 2 castle. BUT only allow them to enchant with Psion - leave Aqua/Inferno enchanting at Level 3, so that there's an incentive to upgrade it again. Level 2 used to be used to access the Alchemist, but that can now be done by people even without a castle so it has effectively been rendered useless. It's about time it got used for something.

All of the new equip should be enchanted with Psion. The plus 10 stats (max enchant level) on them should be at 6-7mil CS in total, the number I stated earlier on in this post, and would perhaps begin at around the stats of the Hooves of Destruction, giving the Devs some room for better and more even stats per level. It gives small players an insight into enchanting and also incites a bit of competition among the new players, which is key if KaW wants to retain newbs for longer.

Last of all, make the enchanting effect of the equip purple instead of yellow/red. It distinguishes it from Aqua/Inferno equips, and also ties in nicely with the colour scheme of the Psion itself. Not important, just thought I'd mention it.

  2. Apologies in advance for total lack off bright colours, fancy BB codes, pictures of potential equips or totally unrelated GIFS of tap dancing cats.

  3. Well thought out idea! The only change I would suggest is have a new enchant material rather than psion... That was supposed to be an event thing which would make a reappearance (doubt that) and having it drop would allow player to finish enchanting their rings
Instead let it be something new... Something green or yellow maybe?

  4. I did mention that it would likely be this that would get the least support. However I simply thought it'd be better to use something that's already established as an enchanting material, rather than adding yet another one. Plus, people completing their rings isn't exactly a terrible thing either.

  5. Wassup my boi

  6. You didnt even read.

  7. So when you get a lvl 3 castle you get no more psion and cant finish maxing your equip if you want to?

    No support.

  8. No, you still get it. Where did I state that it would stop?

  9.
  10. Great idea! I would love for better equipment.

  11. nice job quoting there Unknown ;)

  12. Well it isn't going to be better. It will be worse. Also, great idea, support

  14. Support: I as well want psion back

  15. Don't get me wrong, I would love to finish upgrading my rings.. But then people who bought seals to get those psion drops will complain how it is no longer exclusive for them

Please no comments about players who have max enchanted without paying for seals.. Don't want to turn this into another hte debate.. This is a good idea so let's keep the thread on track

  16. Firstly I support there being some equipment drops from the t1-t3 ebs (apart from the hooves and helm which both really suck.) The equipment does not need to be great because they are for new players but they will undoubtedly give new players a boost which they so sorely need. Just remember how disheartening it is to see all those equipment slots which look like you will never fill for ages due to all the higher tier ebs dropping them.

Just imagine a new player being given a chance to get weak but highly useful equipment that will push them through the lower tier of the game far quicker. Some weaker players who are t4-t5 size might even go back to lower ebs for the equipment.

Psion as you already said will have mixed reactions. This was an event drop and I believe that it should stay that way however I also feel like the event equipment was slightly ruined when they buffed the Scrag equipment. The honeycomb and drone rings were pretty similar but about a level higher than the talon and mesmeric rings respectively. Now that the scrag equipment has been buffed it's pretty rare to see the hive equipment. The swarm ring is the exception here as it is still used by plenty of people however most people who maxed it had to work hard to do so and I believe that it should remain that way. Basically although the other 2 rings are now near useless if you have the scrag equipment they should still remain what they are. Exclusive to the event.

  17. First of all, thank you for the feedback.

Yes, I understand that Psion was an event drop. However, as you pointed out, the Drone and Honeycomb rings are very neglected. Perhaps re-dropping Psion would encourage their use as players would be able to upgrade them to a level which allows them to compete with the Scrag rings again. Just a thought.
