question 4 runners (exercise question not osw)

  1. For the longest time I tried increasing my 10k time but I plateaued (I typically ran til I got tired) - a friend recommended that I try a running plan. The plan was counter intuitive - asked me to tons of easy runs and incorporated intervals and pickups. But I can't complain cuz I ran my best 10k time ever.

I have a question, I wanted to start another running plan. I can either do another 10k plan that works on increasing my 10k time further or starting a half marathon plan. I would like to run my 1st half marathon next fall. But I'm wondering if further strengthening my 10k time would help me in running a half. Any thoughts.

If you don't run - please don't comment on this thread. I would like to hear from veteran runners who can help me.

  2. Getting a personal trainer would be beneficial. Do you have one?

  3. I don't have a personal trainer - I'm a poor teacher

  4. I would recommend starting a half marathon running plan. Distance is all about endurance and having your body in peak condition. Train for what your goal is, anything less could be detrimental to your health.

  5. With a distance run find a pace that works good for your body and just stick with it but go further each day also wanting to run a 1/2 train for 3/4 so the 1/2 is nothing then

  6. I agree with Kanney. When I do 1/2 marathons, if I haven't trained in awhile, it takes me 10-12 weeks to get prepared. There are plenty of running plans online and if u can get to the 10 mile mark u can do 13.1
