Strong support ... been thinking that something like this would spice up the game, including for the new players. I have the following suggestion, since the exploit issue is a serious one and the black market (if we call it that) must not be a tool for channeling funds between alts or friends or clan members. For this reason I think that the market should have an auction element. I propose the following: (A) Any account may only have one item for sale at any given time; (B) the item must be available for sale for a significant period of time (3-5 days minimum), so that it isn't that only the seller knows about the item for sale; (C) the price is set by auction, whoever has offered the most at the end of the auction term gets the item; (D) placing a bid deducts the bid amount from the account of the bidding player (no bidding on credit!), the unsuccessful bidders are refunded their bids when the term of the auction expires; (E) the item is sold to the highest bidder at whatever the price may be (no minimum price may be set by the seller), item and price transferred at end of auction period.
This is a great idea but I would recommend having a cap so people with more than one alt can't just 'volley' up the price of it until something stupid. This would also bring back the need to go equipment hunt as you could search for a piece of equipment which is selling well or to 'restock' your equipment shop. On the downside, this would require a huge update and I don't think Devs can be bothered to do this.
A cap on what the seller can earn. A cap on what tier eq a buyer can bid on.(stat based or similar) A limit on how many items you can buy/sell per week.
The whole purpose is to be able to get gear you don't have, if they have the money to buy it they should be able to get it (could also benefit Devs if they make packs of gold bars for sale using real $$$ or nobs)
Exactly, it should be eq that you could already earn but you would rather exchange gold for it than your time. Not a means to over power builds that refuse to grow. These are the exploits we are trying to avoid.
I'm not letting this thread die. It's a good idea and the Devs NEED to implement this! This would add a new element to the game and make it that much better.
It is a great idea. I also thought of this a couple of years ago but did not post it. It would add a great aspect to the game. I would place fixed prices on equip rather than black market rates. Maybe have a KaW tax on sales also to keep devs happy (a bit like the tax on bars). That is the cost of buying is more than what the other person sells it for. Say... Hairy legs cost 1bill then the seller only gets 500mil (50% tax). Naturally this will make devs happy because peeps will then buy xtals to make gold in order to buy equip. Maybe equip could only be bought using bars rather than gold.
Support definitely. I also like the auction-style idea that was presented earlier. I think that every eq should have a set starting price and the exact amount of time left should not be stated. It should always round to the nearest day, and when it reaches less than a day left, it would say something like <1 days left. This way, people looking to trans to alts would not know which item was theirs. I also support the 1 listing per account presented earlier, and I also support the tax, which I think should be an added % onto the sales price.
I think that hauscat has an interesting refinement in not marking when individual auctions are ending. Would make it very hard to abuse the system. I also like the tax idea. So how about that the items are sold for regular gold; however, you need a gold bar (or other item) to pay the auctioneer's fee, and this item costs, let's say, 5 or 10 Nobility Points? This might make the devs more inclined to invest in writing the code to do this.
