Re: New Ok we'll since you nooblets are still complaining about how you're not allowed to swear on a 9 game. Even though it's pretty dam obvious... Take example a. When flora brought out a advert a little while ago in 2014, it was all seemingly innocent. Until the end. While children brought up the breakfast they caught there parents "wrestling" as it says on the ad. Even though you didn't see anything and no context other than wrestling was used. Didn't stop the general population from complaining and demanding it to be removed. That is petty compared to actually openly swearing on a online game made for children 9 . Even with changing the word to stars, parents will still speak up if their child ever did ask what the stars meant. Ata will most likely have to close down the game along with possibly having a court case on there hands. Not forgetting apple has to review the game to make sure it lives up to it's 9 rating. It's sad how you will voice a complaint about the restricting of profanity words, not just because you're actually wanting to swear, nor due to is it because you claim "your chat is being restricted" (which it isn't) it's sad because you can not come up with a word to replace that you shouldn't be saying anyways. Swearing doesn't make you look "badass" and ata would rather have you out of the game, if you can not follow simple rules than allow you to swear. This isn't freedom of speech or to express. You play to ata rules.
Censorship has been proven not to work in alot of countries it actually frustrates ppl and makes the problem worse
Re: New This game was already censored. This is just censor 2.0. I think this is an experiment in "hey if we make a change, as irrelevant as it is, watch how many people complain about it." Instead of having asterisks for a 9-12 year old to look at, they removed them and made it blank. BIG DEAL. Sure, it's different. But the same thing. The pop-up in cc is pointless. People will bypass anyway and it's not silenceable. Don't be afraid. You'll just need to sharpen your English language now.
Re: New Still it would be a great addition if the clan owner could change whether the cc had the new censor or not. That or they could choose to remove it altogether.
Re: New Devs: You claim that you are doing this because of a toxic effect. Can you provide any significant evidence to support this? As is, it seems very arbitrary and alters what players have come to enjoy (if they didn't they would have already left). Without understanding the actual context all you did was alienate the culture you have worked hard to attract/maintain and wasted time on another useless change rather than developing meaningful change. Current issues are: 1. Many 9 games have widely different filters many of which are less strict than previous policy and experience no significant effects. So what data caused you to change policy? 2. Doubtful 9-12 year olds make a significant contribution to funding and, because they quickly realize they can't compete without spending, leave before contributing significantly. I have yet to meet an avid player in that age group nor have many people who are posting. So why alienate players who fund the game to attract players who don't? 3. Public radio, television, etc... All allow profanity and are highly accessible to children who constitute a large part of their audience/profits. These have become increasingly lax over last few decades... Why are you moving away from this trend when the more progressive policies are a major draw for youth? 4. Name a single measurable harm from profanity that doesn't come down to "bullying" which is still allowed by using different words. Yes there is a stigma, but there is a reason that censorship and being PC becomes a moving target -- aka words just express concepts and if a word is blocked language adapts by transferring the meaning onto another word. It's not the word itself, but the underlying assumption/content which is potentially harmful... (Ex. The term for a female dog is profanity AND also the correct word choice between dog breeders). What are the actual results of similar policies being implemented in other games? This is especially critical because kaw is advertised as a war game. War demonizes the enemy otherwise they would be allies. How is this policy consistent with war in which negative content is necessary in the creation of an enemy? 5. WC is public domain that players cannot self-filter so I understand a filter there... CC is a choice which IS self-regulated by players. What data supports players quitting rather than changing clans which would mean no measurable impact to game. 6. Censorship aimed at protecting children is frequently about protecting innocence. A child who could understand the previous form of censorship clearly was not innocent. So how much protection does the new policy actually propose to provide? 7. Ironically I only see adults defending the censor on the forums. Yet the language is "adult appropriate" regardless if it is the language that those adults prefer. So what is the impact on the actual adult community? Both number who quit and their financial contribution percentage so significance can be evaluated. I can go on but got bored long time ago... Bottom line, there are trade-offs when deciding to spend time developing one change over another. There are numerous changes that have been promised and asked for and are yet to be created. As is, you alienate many in the kaw community and defend it with assurances that this is a meaningful change which means it should be prioritized over the other changes. Considering how many times promises were made and broken/unfulfilled it is clearly warranted why the community doesn't feel inclined to simply trust arbitrary claims. If true, provide actual data to support your claims so the community can understand why the alienation and trade-offs are justified regardless of our personal feelings toward profanity. Either provide evidence to back up your statement/policy change or acknowledge that this change was a waste of time and money and that you don't care about your players because you would rather alienate them and ignore meaningful change (to clarify mods/devs -- silence is considered the cowards way out for accepting you were wrong since it is your job to monitor these forums).
Re: New Remove clan chat censorship, if a player dislikes the chat they can leave the clan. If a player follows them then it can fall under harassment. ...... Please
Re: New Kaw_community you have forced me to do something I never ever wanted to have to do. From now on I'll have to use Shakespearean swears...
Re: New Very good kaw, i give you a round of applause for this new implementation of improved chat filter.
