timed use items (example crux key)

  1. Devs,

I am proposing that when an item has limited use like the crux key. The restriction is placed once per 24 hours. With a static reset time.

Example now if you use a Crux key to open the crate you have to wait 24hrs.
11am day one then day two you get to it at 14:32 day three you get to it at 15:00.

This is a frustrating roadblock. I can think of some pros for it and cons. With a static reset time I think it will help remove the confusion from this and encourage additional engagement. (It sucks hitting the key at 22:00 and not being able to use it again for 26-30hrs if you fall asleep or before 22:00).

I propose that the items always reset at something like 03:00pst in future events, or at noon pst like when top of fate is cast.

A player would have the same amount of "opens" available as under the previous system. If the player forgot to open from the previous day prior to the reset time they would still have a chance.

    Possible "abuse"

    1) someone earns a crate 2hrs before reset and opens it then earns another crate 2hrs after reset was able to open 2 crates in a 24/hr period.

I think that situation really would encourage more activity.

  2. This is why we need a Kaw clock which has been mentioned several times before.

  3. there isn't a kaw clock because the devs don't want to post their tz!

  4. Or you post on your wall right after you open, then time it EXACTLY to open the next! Genius.

  5. That idea makes it hard for people with different timezones and work lives.

As it is now, people can get to it in their own time and are responsible for themselves. I set 24hr alarms so I do not unlock late.

  6. Or you set an alarm on your phone exactly when you open the next day!

    Wow I'm brilliant

  7. it is mildly annoying how the time gets pushed back a little bit every time you are a few minutes late, or when you can't be on to unlock it on time.

one key per preset 24hr period makes sense.

  8. It really is a good idea. From my viewpoint.

  9. Again, stressing the need for a kaw-clock... Then it'd reset at that time... It's far less effort to keep the status quo
    ..

However, in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather have programming time spent elsewhere.

  10. Daphnia I disagree no matter where we are on this planet there is a 24hr day. If the reset time is a static time and that reset is at 4am your time you still have 24hrs to use the item any time during your day. We could argue here indefinitely about what that time should be.

I suggested just that there be a set reset time, perhaps tied to the top of fate clock as an example. The top is able to be cast starting at 12pm pst. No matter what time that is locally for a player. It also ends at the same time 12pm pst for all players.

This is a needless complication to the game. Is it a game breaking barrier? No. Can it turn new players off/discourage participation in the event. Yes.

I see value in the collective opinions of the forum community. Sadly at times I think that very community may be advocating for things that discourage/hamper/hurt the game at large. To have the game continue strong for years to come the game needs to be more welcoming to new players. Sure it is different than when I joined in the pwars day. Something are easier some harder. New players join everyday, how long are they staying? What can the devs/community do to improve retention. That is what I believe a simple update like a static time could help with, changing anything is s very complex process because you will have ripple effects all across the game. Before making such a change permanent try it out in a similar event and see if engagement goes up or down.

Let us all provide ideas and feedback that will help make the game better, and if the idea doesn't work as well as we hoped (pvp opt out anyone?) then we tried it and move on.

  11. In my opinion it's just fine the way it is.

  12. You guys care to much about something that doesn't give a good reward for the effort or money you put into it 

  13. See your point but because of the vast time zones I don't see this happening. Instead why not just set a alarm to do it or just open it when you get home and have time to keep a eye on it. :)

  14. ....they mention PST a lot

    Pacific standard time

ATA is somewhere in the west... Noob

  15. I thought it was common knowledge that ATA are Canadian? Or am I completely wrong

  16. OP, I disagree, not because I agree with the current system, but because I have a better idea.
I would suggest that we keep the system as it is, but with ONE change. Instead of every 24 hours, it should be every 23 hours. Why? Because, as OP highlighted, there is currently the problem of the time being pushed forward each day. My solution would remove, or at least reduce the impact and prevalence of this problem. Even if you are 1 hour late opening the box, you have lost no time at all.

Props to League of Legends for giving me this idea - it has a "first win of the day bonus" which refreshes ever 22 hours. This system is incredibly useful and ensures no one ever experiences a "loss" of time/misses the boat.

  17. it wouldnt cause problems for people in different tz…they would have 24 hrs from the reset to open a crate before next reset.

    Support!

  18. You could just set a timer as others have said. Pick a time that's most convenient for you at a time that you could get on KaW, so you won't have to worry about falling asleep. @ everyone asking for a "KaW clock," the devs have already said no because of lag reasons.
And the apes are in Vancouver. :p
