You can get more than 6, you just can't buy mith so you have more than 6.

Try some EE wars to get mithril and you'll get more!

You can buy 6 cast a spell, and buy more to replace what you used for the spell though!

 

my preferred method is to get that sword and beat on people with it until they cough up mithril.
