^Out of all my other posts you decide that's the only mistake you could refer to? Something 3 pages back. You're a little late, woifie. I appreciate you correcting me, dictionary-san.
Apparently this issue has been addressed. I was able to edit the OP of my Android guide. And this from mobile platform of forums.
The concept of editing is one that has existed without issue for over 5 years. Why is there a need at all to even consider reinstating the 5 minute no edit policy for all devices? There was no issue before all devices were able to edit. If you feel it's being abused revert to the last point the system worked, rather than mess it up all over again and ruin the efforts of people who actually treat this place well.
Support. You should be able to edit any post even if it's over 5 mins past, from any device. (Obviously excluding locked threads etc.)
Pc kaw wasnt released until ~a year~ in, so editing hasn't "existed without issue for 5 years". This idea is unbelievably stupid. Way less than 50 unique thread OP's will actually use this editing feature (outside of the current 5 minute window). Basically, these super minority of users are being prioritized over the plethora of posts that will be abused.
Plethora of posts? A tiny tiny tiny percentage of posts made are abusive. As for being a stupid idea, it evidently wasnt seeing as the system has been in place since forums was around via PC editing, and the devs agreed to undo the decision. Yes, sounds like a real stupid idea Benny.
It doesn't help that kaw_community pretty much told everyone how to abuse it. It is still stupid. 5 minutes is plenty of time to abuse a post. I prefer old forums back over new ones if we are going to be limited on our new features. Better yet, let us just flood forums every time we update our threads. I know it will take Wulf ages to work on his Buildings guide.
I support the ability to edit unlimitedly. 70% of the threads I do require editing. Now, you can say I should do it all at once no mistakes. But, nothing is or will ever be fully perfect. I urge KaW to leave it unlimited. (Just tried to edit some posts, can't anymore.)
Considering I was beta testing the first release of pc kaw in October of 2010, you'd be mildly incorrect and my approximation of 1 year from release was awfully close. They'll see it is not the wisest change when less then 50 users utilize it within a year and they everyone has to deal with abusive post edits.
Guys remember, ATA could care less. Remember the event war they gave pimd when we wanted it more? Remember the really lame events? Remember all of those.
Have any idea what the topic is here? Or did you just happen to join the ata hate wagon and decide to spew garbage here? I honestly think allowing unlimited editing won't turn out to be a huge concern.and if it does then they can simply make it 5 minutes again. It doesn't hurt to try something.
My brain is failing me apologies dude who corrected me and i tried to correct back ... I did beta test some pc update in October though lmao sorry am fool now gonna go hide under a rock... All this time I've Deadset thought it was the original release I was involved in testing
Thanks for pointing out this issue Mango, I didn't quite realize this implication. Very annoying for anyone with a thread that gets regularly updated. Glad it got changed!
Am I wrong when I point out that ata does not own the forums and that they go through a 3rd party for forums and as such have to use a product they do not actually code or run. Blame the forum developers not ata for this change. ( unless I am mistaken and ata have taken over forums) Quotes btw where a great idea, but so widely used inappropriately we would almost be better off without them. Though I am hoping the use of them tones down when the novelty factor wears off
