(From the actual breast cancer campaign site) That is around 76% survival rate for breast cancer Ebola has around 10 - 50% survival rate But it's great the way people like to leave out other deadly cancers for example... Percentage of patients deceased within five years after diagnosis: Pancreatic cancer – 94% Liver cancer – 83.9% Lung cancer – 83.4% Esophageal cancer – 82.7% Stomach cancer – 72.3% Brain cancer – 66.5% Ovarian cancer – 55.8% Leukemia – 44% Laryngeal cancer – 39.4% Oral cancer – 37.8% Colon cancer – 35.1% Bone cancer – 33.6% Rectal cancer – 33.5% Cervical cancer – 32.1% Kidney cancer – 28.2% Bladder cancer – 22.1% Uterine cancer – 18.5% Breast cancer – 10.8% Skin cancer – 8.7% Thyroid cancer – 2.3% Prostate cancer – 0.8% I don't mean to be offensive to anyone but when breast cancer is all the way down at #18 I fail to see why the other cancers like pancreatic aren't being the number one awareness cancer as it's classed as the most deadly. 2003 - 2007 Breast cancer: 206,983 lives Pancreatic cancer: 162,878 lives The figures will have changed in recent years best one I could find. Yes breast cancer has taken more life's but the death rate is fairly low compared with pancreatic cancer. As I said I don't mean to offend people but the way I see it it's not as deadly and the survival rate for breast cancer 90 - 70 % Where as the survival rate for pancreatic is little more than 5% even Ebola isn't as deadly than that and that is shocking to me. Lung cancer is also the biggest killer, killing over 3 - 4 times as many people than breast cancer with a death rate of 80% So instead of focusing your donations to one particular cancer, since no one can say what is worse. ( I'm saying this because there will have been plenty of people that's had a lose due to other forms of cancers and diseases ) why not just donate to Macmillan since they deal with all types of cancer.
Africa has weak government. Raising money don't mean they would get it. I do understand its not a country. But a mess at the least. 70% plus die. Been studying since the 70's. Not close to a cure. Just flush with fluids and hope body fights it. Too many weird death rituals don't help.
It would be best to donate to the world health organization(WHO) instead. Also there will never be a cure for everything. Viruses are constantly evolving and changing. Like the flu virus has evolved, there are many that are evolving now and becoming antibiotic resistant. Breast cancer death rate is also low because there is so much focus on catching it early. When caught early, it's usually easy to cure and it's easy to check for breast cancer compared to other types.
More people have died from obesity, smoking, and alcohol than Ebola will ever kill. I say we donate to stop fat smoking drunkards (Americans) from doing what they do.
So stop America from giving more to any other country has ever given to anyone else? Is that a fair trade? These fat Americans have saved more lives and brought more to the world then anyone has ever done. America also has the best athletes and best technology as well as the best military. Hate to state these facts because it brings the butthurt out in people but I'm tired of the ignorance to the facts.
