Junior Moderators KaWmunnity today I come to you asking for your support in an idea I've had. Junior Moderator - a younger KaW player who wishes to help improve the community and protect fellow players. Think of it as a combination of Valiant Knight and Moderator. Requirements Same as the Requirements for regular Moderator with a few exceptions. 1. Age 14-18 2. Very active and helpful in KaWmunnity activities such as World Chat, Forums, helping new players, etc. By "very active" i mean talkative, following players back, giving wall art if you're into that. Details Now to explain a few things. +At the age of 18 a JMod has the option to apply for full time Mod or be considered for VK. Perk - if they apply for Mod they have a higher chance of being chosen having already proven to the KaWmunnity and Thinking Ape Team that they can moderate. +A JMod does not have the exact same abilities and perks of a regular Mod. -A JMod cannot perm silence or permanent forum ban(only 24hr silences and bans). They can lock, edit, and delete forum posts and threads. They cannot combine threads. They can clear profile status's of offences. +JMods appear Orange in WC and CC. +JMods do have the same allowance of speakers as a regular Mod. Purpose Now at this point you're probably asking yourself "why?" I'm sure we've all seen times where there is a World Chat offence and there is no Mod on to act upon it. Of course we can take a Screenshot and email it to the Support Team but that does take a few minutes and the offender could still be spamming or saying bad things in the time it takes for the Support Team to do something. Having Junior Moderators would cut down on that majorly because I know personally there are very mature candidates lurking while these things happen. My main purpose for having JMods is to have power directly in the KaWmunnity. These select KaWmunnity nominated players are very active in the way things work. We understand that Moderators are adults with lives and sometimes the stress can be too much on them and they can get very busy. Also this gives younger players an opportunity to somewhat Moderate before turning 18 and defeats the common complaint of the Moderator age needing to be lowered. How To Apply Well you don't. To become a Junior Moderator who are very active in the KaWmunnity you must be nominated. To be nominated you must have the entire KaWmunnitys backing (except for obvious trolls). You must be mature and only the KaWmunnity truly knows how mature you are in the game. *Example* Lets say I wanted AJ for JMod. I'd as an active KaWmunnity member myself would make a forum thread asking for support in having him made JMod and ask around the KaWmunnity if they think he would be a good one also. After that if there is enough support theĀ Devs or whoever recognizes VK's would contact AJ and give him a variation of the regular Moderator application(which helps them gather information like Time Zone) which he would fill out and email back to them. If they like and approve then he would be made JMod. Please discuss and support. I'm here to clarify and answer questions. If you have anything to add or refine please say so.
Aside from being younger, what do these Junior Mods have over regular ones? Regular mods are still regular players like Avatar or Daphnia. The power is still in the hands of the players.
But to what end? What I meant is, what purpose would they be contributing to that the current moderator position doesn't contribute enough to?
Crow can you re read the 2nd purpose that might clear it up a bit. If not I'll try to explain better.
Okay Benny bruh you don't even play. This is to improve the KaWmunnity which I haven't seen you in so maybe you don't understand yet. :/
Who do you have in mind? I'm unaware of most players ages, and those I do know and would consider for future mods are not under 18.
@princess, I'm not going to reveal my age, but I have more experience moderating than anyone current, or previous in this game. I sought an era of change, in both the community and player oriented side of things. When considering a moderator, the qualities, attributes, skills ect should be considered. People thought I was in my late 20s during my reign. There are obviously reasons for and against 'underage' moderators on a (9 ?) game, specifically on the monetary and liabilities side of a 'child' representing there game (significantly reducing the need for CSR's at ATA). Now back to the central argument, it's a flawed idea. Just like forum moderators. If an underage player possesses the same quality set as another; eg helpfulness, than they should not have bracketed tiers of abilities, which are little nonetheless. I don't disagree with under 18 year olds becoming moderators, I completely support it. There is no need for extra tiers, and unfortunately this idea will never happen.
While I think the intention of this idea is great, it advertises the ages of the most vulnerable in the community, whom mods are here to protect. Would make it easier for Pervs to target them. Just my thought.
