This thread is an overview on current issues that persistent between the Community and the Developers. In this thread, I will also include Kaw_Community, even though he/she is not a dev or a player because KC is the common middle man/woman. I will also be excluding Support because they are to handle in game issues on an individual level, not a massive one. Terminology The only major miscommunication between the developers and players as far as Terminology goes is PvP Devs refer PvP to all player vs player actions in this game, to include EE. Players refer PvP to all Off System player vs Player actions and call all Player vs player actions done in EE as War or simply EE. This miscommunication as led to the off-system pvp player rioting in forums. As they original understood the updates, Off-system pvp was to be added in these events. That case was not true, but in turn EE was. Solution This one is easy. I feel like the devs should give way to player terminology and refer to future updates including on wars as either EE or Wars. Also, if any updates go towards off system pvp, the devs should refer that as PvP. EE EE is the the crazy kid in KAW. On the Player side. We have clans that search and spend a lot of time and effort to build rosters that create mismatches. Then we have players that cry and/or complain to the devs to fix the mismatches. The devs then nerf the GH to help fix the issue. Players learn the SH is now the new way to go The devs then go through a large scale of testing in the chaos wars to try and fix that. Possible Solution The devs and these clans can dance around EE forever and people will find way to make mismatches. I find the EE is not a Developer Issues but a Community Issue. There are a few ways to work around the issues without having the devs change up the mechanics and plunder of certain builds. If we rely on the devs to fix EE, but let the clans keep exploiting and corner cutting, this issue will never end. In short, EE is a play made problem that would be best fixed by the players as the devs work on it's reward systems. Hunts This is a new deal in KAW. Issues are mainly Duration of the Hunt: -The feather hunt lasted way to long Rewards: -The armor in the previous hunts have sucked. *The exception being the feather banner, and some moth equipment. -Current hunt lacks SOD rewards and sod is a better reason to hunt for eggs than the expectation on armor -Reward set up. (i.e. You must get x-amount to get this, and must also be in leaderboards to get that) It seems a bit much at times. PvP: -Being in OSW durning an event and not getting anything for playing kaw the old school way kinda sucks for some players. Possible Solutions This is all Dev work: Incorporate a drop per successful hit in the next event. -This will allow big and small players who enjoy all styles of the game to get rewards. From PvP to EB's -For HTE and RotWB, add end plunder drops. Mainly because if you pay for an eb, you are supporting the community and should get a bit extra. Also may be fun to add the end drop to other ebs and increase drops per successful hit if a kingdom hits a bigger size kingdom. -For EE, keep the same system as before but with the drop per successful hit. I feel the above solution, which was thought of by another player who I could not find out their name, will be a plus in the community as far as moral towards the events. Also: Increase rewards as far as armor bonus and add more SOD's to the leaderboard charts. Off System PvP This one is an absolute mess. From Rusted_Knight_of_Serenity's push on rewards to Swabia's request on double and triple plunder bonus through Battle List. From OSW Clans to 1v1 players. Many want updates, many don't want updates. many want updates to bring more people to the off system battle side of the game, many want updates to get more bang for their buck. Issues go from miss using alts to potentially creating an new style of PWars. It is a melting pot of emotions and complaints. I feel like the devs should be more responsive on players thoughts and issues with Off-system pvp instead of completely ignoring it publicly. Possible Solutions 1) Incorporate Off System PvP into Hunts in the way stated in the Hunt section of this thread. 2) Maybe incorporate some of the ideas originally brought to forums. (there are dozens of them.) --Personally if PvP would just be included in the Hunts and plunder boost events the EE and EBs get, I feel that would solve the issue for many. Community and Devs If any of y'all have anything else to add, I will be happy to include it. Below I will reserve 2 spaces, one for dev replies, not only on this post, but all post similar to my op. Also one for player suggestions and ideas. This thread is meant to be a living op that hopefully helps makes KAW a better game as well as allow the devs and players to sync up ideas and mindsets. Note: Players, remember this. The devs run a company and as a company they can run multiple projects at once. They have mentioned that they run a lot of events in parallel to each other. Devs, remember this. Players make the game. I know you have to make money and making money is a goal. But no Players, No cash.
Increase plunder of hits so it is 1.5 times HTE. Gives option to PvP or EB. Balanced by tremendous pot costs and risk of retaliation. OSF aren't a problem but pwars are. Luckily i think devs managed to neutralise them ages ago. (Money doesn't go to osfs when forfeit i think). EE. They should freeze our accounts and give us a choice of some set builds. EQ earned goes to normal account.
Nicely written thread! I agree it gets confusing when everybody means different things by PvP, I personally don't tend to count EE as PvP, and can't take part in EE due to slow internet speeds in my location for the last year or so! However, it will be interseting to see what the devs have lined up their sleeves with the new off server beta tests! As a lover of off-system PvP, I do find it frustrating with the collection type promotions watching non-warring accounts growing stronger with items and such whilst I am enjoying the game the way I play it, but I guess that it is my decision not to take part in the events. That being said, I would dearly love to find a way to to stay on a level playing field with those that do take part in these events and EE, by having Off System PvP rewarded somehow, however, it's extremely difficult for the devs to come up with a system that we players do not find a way to manipulate, and ofc, there are those who are quite right in their statements saying that once Off System is thrown in with special rewards, then it begins to lose the 'Off System' element of the game. With all of these points, I don't have the solution- I can't think of any way in this situation that everybody can be kept happy - however, that being said, it'll be really interesting to hear suggestions for improvements! iphi.
We could reward players for successfully defending attacks as well. This would stop everyone being so defensive and freaking out over a few incoming lol
Well written thread. All points covered I think. Personally I feel PvP could be improved by making other players pay as well or better than HTE.
