Alright, this is in response to my ways to recruit people toward the KaW community. This will also be a short, not fancy, blabber. To start, I have made an alternate account for the new Kongregate site and I have been talking to some of the new players on there. Almost all have agreed that the experienced players in the Kong chat are more helpful than the tutorial itself. After talking to them about how the tutorial could be improved I have picked up a few things. One, most have said the tutorial should say "You can ask people in World Chat to hire you with your 5 free speakers", Two, a lot have said to go more in-depth, instead of making it a 30 second guide maybe take 5 minutes and explain concepts such as epic battles, wars, ee wars, allies, attacking, stealing, assassinating, scouting, health crystals, and nobility. If these things are implemented. Quite a bit of people would understand and take this as more of a long time game instead of 20 minutes you win type of game. This would also help keep hundreds of new players being less confused and require less effort for veterans doing explaining. Sincerely, Within Space
Getting into a clan is one of the big barriers new players face. Once you've found a good clan however you'll be in a good place as they explain the true inner workings of KaW and help you experience the many sides of the game hands on. I'd definitely love if everyone would be welcoming to new members and helping them grow. Do you guys have any ideas for how to get more people into Clans quicker? Anything you think would be good to add to the tutorial?
Honestly, tell them, "Use your Speaker to ask for a clan, and that you are new" , also you could tell them to watch their wall and join which they would prefer.
The tutorial needs to be short and sweet, but get all the info in there or else people will get bored reading. The only way to get into more clans quicker is to: 1. Grow 2. Hope they are nice and will accept you.
Auto-join players into "newbie-only" clans through which they can socialize with other noobs and build bonds. Maybe a training clan or experienced players can advertise their clan from these clans. After 1-2 weeks, the noobs get auto-kicked. Explain how cc works, etc.
I'd rather we get rid of the help button in favour of the clan button, or have an option to toggle the buttons. I haven't used either in a looong time.
If you could add a tab for "New Players" that could be viewed on all versions of the game, that would be great. The only time I know if someone is a new player is if they post on WC, and most probably don't do that. Maybe change the UI for an extra tab on the home page, or in WC, or somewhere else? If we had easy access to lists of new players, we'd be able to help them much more efficiently.
One thing I here from new players is they didn't understand wat a clan was ... They thought once they joined one they were locked in like an alliance or something ... So they held off joining any clan only asking to enter very large ones that don't accept new accounts
Explain the damn wall system. First time I seen it, I was lost. Make your "kaw" account post on the new player's wall to explain how to post on your own wall, reply to him (kaw) and delete.
Also, you should add some pop-ups if they press on something (It'll explain things about clan, BL, etc.)
Max plunder is another thing most new people don't understand heck I've personally had to explain it to a bunch of people even some as large as 1 mill cs ... How they got that big with no allies I'll never know
I like the idea of them auto joining a clan just for new members, to help them grow and the veterans can explain the rest of kaw to them while they are in the clan. For example have the VK's run the clan if they choose too of course.
People on computers have no access to speakers when they begin, I'd say KaW should implement at least 1 speaker for anyone new to be able to ask for a volley and some help.
One feature that would be great to implement is to have clans sign up on a list if they would be interested in accepting new players. Then, once a player has completed their tutorial, a list of clans would be sent to them and instructions on how to apply to them.
