Additional (Modifiable/Special) Attack Button

Discussion in 'Ideas + Feature Requests' started by 88keys, Mar 31, 2014.

  1. My feature request is or an additional button (or 2) for attacking (both PvP and PvE) that has a player-pre-assigned effect, allowing players to quickly and easily perform repetitive/typical actions (especially in time-sensitive crucial moments, as in war or EB item phases).

    The EB "Attack" menu (which currently brings up Fight/Scout/Steal/Assassinate/Item, each of which brings up a sub-menu for selecting items) could have a 6th option--"Special Attack". The Special Attack would be like a macro/sticky that the user could pre-assign at any time (say, on a menu added to one's profile page). Possible examples for use would include:
    "My clan is running Haunting/HTE, I'll set my Special to Use Item>Seal of Deflection";
    "Clan is running FoD, phase 2 approaching, set Special to "Use item> Locust Swarm Holy Wrath Angels of Light";
    "Clan is running TSG and my Atk is too small to hit without pots, set special to Fight>Add Blizzard"
    This way when a fast item phase comes up, people won't miss items simply because they were still trying to select which item to use, while people with alts in clan were watching for the phase on 1 account with the item pre-loaded on another (we've all done it or at least seen it). This is also particularly useful when an EB starts with an item phase (such as Summoner or StP). If you just finished an HTE and run Summoner next, people on iDevice (possibly Droid? IDK..) go to Use Item and Seal of Deflection is still selected--must deselect SoDef, select Amulets..). A Special button would ameliorate that, eliminating that annoying extra second on a bar that is gone in 3 seconds.

    This button can also be added to profile pages for PVP where the menu has attack/spy/buy. (In fact my suggestion is replace "buy" with "special", and put that buy button somewhere else entirely...how many times have I clumsily tried to buy someone during war because I was trying to move as fast as possible and missed the spy button, and luckily had no gold out/insufficient funds--but still...move that buy button, closer to "follow" or something).
    Anyone who wars knows that time is critical and precious moments selecting items, etc. can make or break you. And perhaps you don't want to select your precious new Quetzal Skull that you only have 1 or a handful of when you are scrambling to Attack>Select All Items. One could set Special to Attack>Add 14 items (all but Quetzal Skull) so one could save that for later, yet not get pinned down while trying to "attack>select all items,>deselect quetzal skull>continue-->You do not have enough troops...You just got KO'd". Instead one could just hit Special and the activity is performed, one and done.

    I've debated in my head whether further additional buttons should be added, perhaps as unlockable. I think limiting to one gives a more realistic approach to war. It's a specialty, so you choose to have your specialty be attacking or stealing or scouting, etc. Nobody should be remarkably good at everything, but it makes sense to me that everyone should be proficient at SOMEthing. But perhaps any/all of these should be unlocked by some achievement. For example, PvP Special Attack only awarded to those with XXXXX successful attacks on opponent kingdoms; PvP Special Scout for XXXXX scouts, etc.

    This is my feature request, support and constructive idea criticism appreciated. Expedient action by devs to bring this into being appreciated even more. Personal criticism and trolls not appreciated at all--Don't make me "Attack>Select All Items>deselect Quetzal Skull>Continue" you. Cheers, and happy KaW'ing to all.

  2. People already use macros on kaw, its called botting and you get banned lol

  3. I do like the auto-select atk pots for pvp though, it should be like the pot selection on ebs, what you used last action is auto-selected for this action - not modifiable

  4. Personally I don't support this idea, it's similar in vein to the 'unload all troops/spies' button that occasionally gets brought up as a suggestion as not being an improvement to the game, only serving to help people lazy in EB's - (if you want to be lazy in EB's why do them at all??)

    To start with it's a pointless 'advantage' in an EB, as everybody will have it-therefore the 'fast item stages' or such will go even quicker, leaving those with slower connections even worse off, and on other stages where you need to select pots to win, then it really is only once per unload you are selecting them-is it really such a hardship to select a pot every hour?

    In regards to pvp, you should be assessing how many pots to use on each target and adjusting in order to make more profit from each successful attack-so depending on how strong your opponent is, you should be adjusting the pots selected anyway, leaving this function that you suggest redundant in pvp unless you are only hitting accounts that are much much bigger than you, and in addition to this, it would reduce how fair it is to respond to any inc-by the time you have received notification you are very much likely to already be pinned-so in this case, slowing things down by selecting pots actually increases the fun in pvp.

    (Note-this is my opinion as a player)

  5. I can appreciate all you said iphi, and thanks for taking the time.

    For EBs, I still submit it's not a "cross the board same advantage". First, as I mentioned there are people with alts that sit with one account refreshing EB or clearing the bar that precedes an item bar, and other account(s) sitting with Use Item>[proper item(s) selected], and their finger hovering over the continue button, which is a pretty significant head start over someone with one account that is refreshing/clearing a bar, then has to go into that menu, find the item (which if you have 1000s of each pot might take a few moments to even load, let alone have to scroll down). Second, that becomes even worse for someone with a slow connection, as each step in the process is slow, so the additional steps compound the problem. Reducing the number of steps actually evens the playing field between fast/slow if anything--perhaps makes no change, but definitely doesn't increase the gap between advantaged fast connection/disadvantaged slow connection.

  6. As for your PvP comment (iphi), in war ( at least for me) there is no time to make such adjustments, and I barely care about the cost of the pots when it comes to the possibility of failing an atk/trying to WIN the war. But to your point, if you were so inclined to select specific pot(s) for a specific opponent, (say your opening target or as you come out of KO), you could set that (pre-war, or as you are in pin) and come out gunning with a single button press action, then change it if you were so inclined next time you are in pin and selecting a different target...

  7. I like this idea - especially moving the buy button.

    I can't tell you how many times I've hit that by mistake trying to steal a target.  fortunately, I've never bought anyone (yet) due to insufficient funds. But it's an easy mistake to make. I support a confirmation popup for buys and/or moving the bit button away from PVP buttons.
