Resurrecting the Professions Idea..

Discussion in 'Ideas + Feature Requests' started by Logical, Oct 13, 2013.

  1. About 2 years ago, along with several other players since then, I posted an idea about adding the theme of Professions to the game. Apart from all of the TL;DR'ers and the "Too much like MMORPG" people it did get a little love from the community.

What I propose is a ... "different" style of introducing a new feature to the game. I went ahead and created 2 sample images of how this could be implemented. If the same amount of interest is still in this idea as it used to be, I will continue creating these images to see if we can create a new feature as a community, and see how/if the Developers implement it.

I feel that KaW doesn't have much of an End Game other than Allies and Leader Board grinding. The Leader Board becomes just like one of those contests of who can stay awake the longest, instead of who is the better or more dedicated player. I think that a good step towards creating a good end game other than just adding more lands could be adding the idea of Professions.

    Armorsmith / Weaponsmith / Alchemist / Miner / Etc...

Imagine fighting a war where your team had a great composition of weaponsmiths or armorsmiths to prevent KO's or deal more damage faster. So that a player actually has to choose a path that will create a weakness for him in other areas, and have to coordinate with Clan mates to make sure they could work well as a group?

Imagine making items that you could cast by themselves to deal damage when you yourself did not have any troops left to hit with? i.e. Explosives/Traps

The chance to have an actual Community Created Content Update could be in our future, if we have people willing to create examples to show their ideas to the developers instead of typing it up in 30 seconds. The more work put into it, the better it may be received...

Here is an example of a player that chose the weaponsmith profession:

This player would gather scrap materials that would need to be smelted into iron bars for crafting later. Which he would acquire via the Battle List (yes I said Battle List):

Any one that is interested in preparing this content for submission let me know. If you are creative and have the tools to produce quality content just follow me and we can put something together.

Please remember the rules posted on: http://forum.kingdomsatwar.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=106749 any posts that I deem set to de-rail or graveyard this idea will be reported as a nonsensical message violation, and you can consider yourself asked to leave the thread. Feel free to post if you disagree or do not support, just keep it professional and offer good criticism!!

    Thank you all

**EDIT** You guys all had a lot of good ideas, I will find a way to compile them and feature them in this post.

  2. I personally think it a great idea. I won't mind seeing more content

  3. This has about as much hope as spy quests, yet as much helpfulness and potential as them, too. We already have an alchemist and a mage. The mage makes equip more powerful so it could prevent less knockouts in wars (referred to as 'BFE' i believe). Alchemists makes the player more powerful themselves. This gives players more to shoot for, but realistically, it's like what we already have with a different name. Maybe if there were different ''professions' that we didnt have...

  4. I like how it involves the battle list.

    Support.

What other types of stuff could you make?

  5. Support. I think this has potential it would evolve from the defender class/attacker flags.

  6. Hmmmm,
I have rather mixed feelings about this.

  7. I see your point. Do you think that if people that chose one specific profession and they didn't have the same options for equipment as someone else that chose a different one would make them "more successful" at a different aspect of the game, be it EE or an EB or Farming.

Part of the professions I am thinking of are:

Alchemist - Creating Potions (both attack and defense), not necessarily spells like we have already. And some more healthy enchantments.

Armorsmith - Roughly can create equipment that no one will ever get from an EB drop or buy with Mithril, etc..

Weaponsmith - Can create weapons that only weaponsmiths may have.

Engineer - Creating items that can attack on their own, or traps that thwart/damage/etc incoming steals or ally hires or whatnot.

And so on and so on.

I was kinda waiting for this feeler to get some traction before I finished ironing out all the little details, because the Dev's would just overhaul them anyway.

    Thanks for the input

  8. Want to be in charge of the reindeer profession? :p

  9. I like this idea. support 

  10. I'd love to be in chage of the anonymous profession

  11. Ohh, ok. And of course, with the ability to do these, there should be some fails like with enchanting equip now? Like, the potions created would have a negative affect on the player or the 'traps' set would backfire on the user from time to time?

  12. Exactly! Just like in most RPG games where you spend all this time gathering the materials just to see it fail on you or not even enhance the level of your profession.

  13. Simply amazing. And those images... 

  14. Hm.. So you could level up your profession after awhile? If so, this could be a good idea for everyone. But you couldn't just pay to max it out. You need to make it so LB players can't just max out everything in an hour.

  15. Great Point Unknown, The idea is to give some depth to the End Game of KaW, and in my opinion that is High Land Complete or greater.

I don't see why lower level players couldn't use it, but it would need land locks to prevent them from being over powered at a really small size.

  16. There could be a level 4 castle upgrade to use this.

  17. I think that might be the next image I conjur up! A few of you have pm'd me already, anyone good at photo editing that wants a stab at it lol you can see I am not the best haha

  18. Mmmmmmm more great ideas..

  19. Traps that would automatically cast a spell upon
    -- ally hires
    -- spy actions
    -- attacks
-- auto taxes someone who buys an ally from you and auto hires it back 1 time. (<-- could cause a lot of expensive bumps haha)

To cast your mith spells only when needed

  20. Yes,
    Yes I would.
    Little do people know,
I'm the one who whips the elves to work...
