Highland/Hoarfrost Optimization & Price

  1. SUMMARY:

    1) Buy: 15 HL with lvl 1 building
    2) Buy: 12 IL with lvl 1 building
    3) Buy: alternate between HL and IL based on the ( ) cost of HL and IL with
    a lvl 1 building
    4) At 20 HL and 15 IL: start upgrading all your T5s to max level
    5) Buy: the rest of HL and HLBC
    6) Open/build on ILs (do whatever you want, you don't need my advice anymore)

This will give you the best stats and plunder the fastest.

MAIN (sorry it's so long but I did this in a spreadsheet and it's hard to describe in words)

I was looking at the cost for HL and IL (screw HF, i prefer Ice Lands as in Low Lands, High Lands, Ice Lands --> LL, HL, IL). I’ll break down how much each land and a building costs then suggest how to optimize your build between HL and IL. There’s a lot of stuff so I included a RECAP at the bottom to summarize my thoughts. FYI, I know it looks terrible. The input was organized but I can't figure out how to put in spaces so my charts line up.

The HL and IL columns have the price to open and in the ( ) is the price to open the land and buy a T5 L1 for HL or T6 L1 for IL. The difference column shows how much more the next IL with L1 building costs compared to the next HL with L1 building. Since you need 15 HL to access the IL, the difference column uses the price of the 16th HL (115b with a building). A negative number means it’s cheaper to open an IL and buy a L1 building than to open the 16th (next) HL and build a L1 building.

(now for the fun part or...it's time to count tiny sheep part)

Until you hit IL #13, it is cheaper to buy the next IL and L1 building than to buy the 16th HL with a L1 building. The IL costs less than the 16th HL and you get better stats with a T6 L1 than a T5 L1. After the 12th IL, it depends on the land price and building stats. To give you an idea of the relative strength of the T5 and T6 buildings, see below.

    __________Tier 4 ___ Tier 5 _____ % over T4 ____ Tier 6 ______ % over T4

    Balanced
    Lvl 1 ____ 94,744 __ 104,220 ___ 1.10 ________ 119,860 ____ 1.265
    Lvl 2 ____ 94,744 __ 156,324 ___ 1.65 ________ 179,949 ____ 1.899
    Lvl 3 ____ 94,744 __ 234,498 ___ 2.475 _______ ----- ______ ---

    Spy
    Lvl 1 ____ 64,960 __ 71,400 ____ 1.10 ________ 82,800 _____ 1.265
    Lvl 2 ____ 64,960 __ 107,100 ___ 1.649 _______ 123,080 ___ 1.895
    Lvl 3 ____ 64,960 __ 160,740 ___ 2.474 _______ ----- ______ ---

(based on the pattern, I'd estimate that the T6 L3 are only about 2.85x the stats of a T4 L3)

The devs went with a specific % increase for the T5 and T6 buildings over the stats from a max T4 building. What you should notice is that the T6 buildings are not much better than T5 buildings especially considering that a max T5 costs 175b, which is less than the 200b it costs for a lvl 2 T6. The stats on the T5 L3 are quite a bit better than the T6 L2. This means that given the choice, you should upgrade a T5 to max rather than upgrade a T6 to lvl 2.

Once you have 12 IL, you should alternate between HL and IL and you can use the chart above to see the total price of land with a building (e.g. IL #12, HL #16, IL #13, HL #17, and then either HL #18 or IL #14 because they both cost 140b with a building). If a HL and IL cost the same, I would buy the HL first since the buildings are cheaper. If you want to speed up the process a bit, you can buy T4s on HL but your stats will suffer for it and a T4 L3 will only save you 13b. I'd stick to T5s on HLs.

To maximize your stats you should buy through the 15 IL and 20 HL. The 15th IL & 20th HL cost a little more than upgrading a T5 L1 to L3 (150b) but it’s only an extra 15b for each land and the extra plunder should eventually offset the extra gold spent.

Next, upgrade all your T5 buildings from Lvl 1 to Lvl 3. A T5 Lvl 3 increases your stats by more than a new T5 Lvl 1 but the plunder increase is smaller. For example, a T5 L3 spy building (160,740) increases your stats by 89,340 compares to the lvl 1 building it use to be. A new Lvl 1 building gives you 71,400 stats. Therefore, upgrading a T5 spy building from L1 to L3 gives you an extra 17,940 stats more than building a new T5 L1. It’s the same for all T5s.

When you've finished upgrading all your T5s to max level, use the chart above to determine whether to buy an IL or HL. At this point, I’d just finish buying the HL and maxing out the buildings. If this helps, my experience so far is roughly 600k more plunder per T6 on haunting. I can’t remember how much my plunder went up with a new T5 L1 building.

    RECAP:

    1) Buy: 15 HL with lvl 1 building
    2) Buy: 12 IL with lvl 1 building
    3) Buy: alternate between HL and IL based on the ( ) cost of HL and IL with
    a lvl 1 building
    4) At 20 HL and 15 IL: start upgrading all your T5s to max level
    5) Buy: the rest of HL and HLBC
    6) Open/build on ILs (do whatever you want, you don't need my advice anymore)

I hope this helps someone. If anyone put their head through a wall, my bad...

(ik i made mistakes the first time i posted but it was late, i was trying to do this on my phone, there may have been some empty beer bottles, and i'm just a sheep)

    .... Complicated

  3. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

    Iceland I love it

  4. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

T5 cost 25 bil a piece, this is wrong.

  5. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

The numbers Mason, what do they mean?

  6. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

    Lol fruit cat
And the new lands or your IL cost can be found in other forums with land prices.

  7. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

Just one observation: your prices for highland plus building do include T4 lvl1 prices, and not T5 lvl1 ones (25b) which I think they should.

In the same line of thought, I did a few calculations to find out when I should upgrade/build what, for example:

I am a hansel still having T5 lvl2 on HL, should I upgrade those or should I build on FL? When should I switch back from FL T6 lvl1 to T5 lvl2 -> lvl3?
If you purely look at stats per billion spend, at around frostland 14 it starts getting more expensive to buy land and build T6 lvl1 than upgrade your existing T5 lvl2 on highlands. But as you get much more plunder for an additional land than for an upgrade, you should therefore build at least 14 T6 lvl1 (I'd even suggest up to 19) before going back to T5 upgrades.

Iceland is not actually icy and Greenland is not actually green....ITS A CONSPIRACY

  9. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

I like the format--kinda but why didn't you spend 30 seconds on wulfs thread and complete the land cost comparison

  10. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

And also lets not forget you have to have 15 HL before you can even start on the HF. So the first 15 HL in your equation are useless.

  11. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

Fruity cat just won the forums

  12. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

    Thank you for this information.

  13. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

Wulf has a post with all the land costs in the strategy section of the forums, you can get the info on hf land cost there :)

  14. Re: Highland/Iceland Price

Completely wrong to start with. And the name is Hoar Frost. We call it HF for a reason.
First part... T5 is 3b? I ******* wish, I really do. Think again genius.

  15. Re: Highland/Hoarfrost Optimization

*sigh* lack of independent thinking...1) it's been updated long since with the correct T5 prices and all the land costs...2) the # in the last column (-60 for land 1) shows the difference between that IL and HL #16. That number tells you how much more/(-less) the next IL costs vs the 16th HL, after IL #12 you can look at the prices in ( ) to decide...3) there's a recap if you don't want to read everything

  16. Re: Highland/Hoarfrost Optimization

What did I just not read?

    Too many words.
